I won't use VTNZ for my bike any longer...not because of failing or any safety concerns for my bmw, but because they don't have the gear to do it. Caught the last guy trying to jimmy up some way of jacking up the rear to test the brakes without the proper gear (or knowing how to use it) and it was looking like he was going to do damage / or drop it so I put a stop to it.

Total fuckwits.

I had exactly the same experience at VTNZ. The guy revved my CBR hard and dumped the clutch, causing the back wheel to spin slightly, then he slammed on the front brake and locked the front wheel nearly binning it. Right in front of me.

Now I take it to another branch of VTNZ where the bike guy is very careful and seems to know how to ride quite well.

If you change the frame of the bike over will it still go through? Because you know, with the different number etc.

Also will a slightly dragging front brake pass? Not that bad at all but the wheel won't spin for long by hand. Not sure if its part of wof these days

If the front brake is dragging, why not just pull it off and free it up. Nothing to do with the WOF, but it is related to 'stopping' and not wearing our your pads or overheating your disc.

If you think a WOF makes your bike safe you must be daft. I have seen bikes with cracked or bent frames pass. They don't even check the pad lining on cars. WOF is just a legal requirement for me - it has nowt to do with safety whatsoever as I don't trust it at all.

Incidentally - I always take my bike/car to VTNZ as they are not looking for stuff to fix to rip off your hard earned and heavily taxed $$$. At least in that sense, you can trust them. And my bikes/cars have always passed anyway.

I take mine to Haldanes - they also are fair and don't try to rip me off. Plus they know bikes and I trust them. A WoF has never cost me much there so I'll keep using them.

I don't like the idea of using VTNZ - I don't want some cager that doesn't know shit about bikes going anywhere near any bikes. Bike guys checking bikes has to be better for safety.

Can't you determine yourself whether it's safe or not? It's only as safe as your ability and I definitely wouldn't be riding a Ducati if I didn't know how to 'check it out'. Had your valves done yet?

Thats b.s. Someone can have all the ability in the world and still have a mechanical failure thru parts wear or lack of maintenance.

Having a MC mechanic check things out during a WOF is like an "insurance policy" to me because I do most of the maintenance work myself.

I think I'll stick with Haldanes, I don't want a cager OR a Triumph rider doing the WoF. (Triumph riders probably think that the oil belongs on the garage floor instead of the sump)

I've had pretty good luck with wofs. I know it's total bullshit and gives a lot of people headaches and needless bills but I have yet to complain!

Is he the older guy, I went there and he said my front wheel bearings were shot, and he failed the bike , I said your`e full of it and went off and bought some bearings , took the old one`s out and they nearly fell apart in my hands, well what was left, I have no issues with VTNZ ( well at the hub anyway).

P.s there were 8 cages and he told me to go around them and park in the center isle, done and dusted in 10 mins ).
