Given it is already on its way, & the shipping costs, I'll just have to order the correct one & suck it up. If no one here wants it it'll go on Trademe.
    Did you sell the part?

800km over two days, Te Aroha - Kimbolton and return. Desert Road, Western Access etc...
Chewed through 48.53 litres of fuel, averaged out at 16.48 km/l......Is that okay, good or bad experts? I see the specs say 14km/l average approx...
I didn't go over 118kph, and that was one stretch of road through Rangiatua....all in all i was impressed with the ride, although a bit of a bitch to start this morning, might need a tune, me thinks..
The wind was bloody awful too!

Sounds like my experiences. I get 15 to 17 depending. Mine is often hard to start as 1cylinder starts then the 2nd one pulls in. I do love the basicness of them

But when warm, is fine right? I started her up this morning, took a bit of time......
Warmed it up, then turned off and had a brew......Then I had to repeat the process once more.....Bugger!
One other thing I have found which is a pain in the arse......The neutral light disappears and I cannot start until it lights up....I then play with the lever and all is fine.
After parking it up on the centre stand for a day or overnight, it disappears again....
It is basic, I like it, runs well and certainly different to the Japanese bikes... Sort of makes you lazy too, changing gears is a thing of the past....

mines good to start, just gotta push the choke lever all the way round for the first start of the day, then I bring it back to the 1st stop for a bit, then I can turn it off and the bike will idle at a very slow beat.never actually measured economy on mine but they arent that flash, agree about the tractability of the engine

Choke lever? They are so yesterday.
    Mines great when hot.
One of my neutral switches doesn't work so I have to listen to the change of engine noise, you get used to it

I tried this and it works a lot better....The owner said it didn't need the full choke, but I guess it does. As soon as it starts, i backed it off to the 1st stop, then let it idle, a slow slow beat.. Thanks for that.....
On another note. I noticed a tiny drip of oil or similar on the floor from both sides of the Bing Carbs, just behind these where the black hose bends up into the engine. I put my finger around the bottom of the hose where the cir-clip is and got a smidgen smear....Is this a normal thing after long ride, anything to worry about?

Thats pretty good economy for an airhead, all of mine used to do 15 or just over. The torque spread is good huh, just pick a gear and go.

Clean as a whistle and dry too. Looks good in there. I just tightened the hose clamps a bit more...
Ran my finger around the bottom, nothing more than a tiny smear...So I am happy with that.

It is a bit disconcerting when approaching an intersection. I stop and I have to listen for the engine as I think it has stalled. So quiet....it just rumbles on.
The thing is, I am used to changing gears, got to learn to just change up and roll on the throttle, or stay in fifth and use that big bag of torque!
It does need a sixth though...Might have to look at getting a smaller rear sprocket....

Is the PD designed so you can lift the tank still in place and work underneath? I see a hinge there to release the tank from the housing, but do you have to disconnect the fuel lines?
    The fuses, air box etc.
