So it turns over but doesn't fire? Is there absolutely no sign of life when you crank the engine over, or can you get it to partially fire if you play with the throttle while cranking? If it's the first, I'd say it's electrical, if it's the second it'll be fuel.
pull the plug out from the head, plug it into the spark plug wire and hold the tip of the plug against he engine. Turn the engine over and see if the electrode has a nice blue spark. one should do it as you should be getting something if even just one cylinder was firing. all you need to take off is the rear seat fairing, 13mm spark plug or long socket to get the plug out. should take 5 minutes (most of that just undoing all the fairing screws and getting the fairing off;-). If you don't have the tool kit with the socket mine was 8-10$ at supercheap.
Also, just wondering on the off chance anyone has a spare tank sitting round, and/or a left inspection panel. Ideally looking for red and white type 8 colours but at this stage I'll take anything.
There was a tank on Tm for 150 all up but for that plus painting of around $400 it's getting a bit steep! I managed to get all the other panels ex japan second hand for an ok price (decided not to go for the Chinese crap again!).
Lastly, had anything changed with tyres since I last owned one of these? Is it still a toss up between bt45's and alphas? I want the most km's I can get from the tyre, occasional track day and weekend ride.
Where did everyone go in this group! :-( is there anyone on here in Auckland with an nc30/35 wanting to go for an occasional ride?

They look really nice, probably better than the ones I've got. Japan yahoo auctions, through Japamart (there are a few companies). typically about 4000yen per piece, then shipping to the warehouse in japan, then gets all sent in one box to nz. What bits on yours are broken? I'll have a couple of spare bits after my next box comes, as one auction was for two right sides, and another for a right and a left side, and I also have a spare tail fairing OEM with crap matt black paint, and fibreglass lowers/inspection panel/cut down upper fairing.
Koba - haha that's good..I'm not a fan of group rides, just one other person, it's quite nice to go find some corners and follow each other's lines, braking etc. it's not as much fun getting lost alone in the waitaks!

Echo - you are blessed with a magical 17" rear rim, otherwise I too would be on road attacks - did 20000km on them on my er6 and were 2/3 worn, and not bad in the wet. Anyone happen to have a 17" rear not selling for 600$?;-)

First place I would be looking is the wiring, particularly the plugs on the right side of the engine. pull the plugs apart and see if any have burnt pins, broken wires or anything else awry. It could also be something like a faulty ignition barrel or kill switch. If you're not confident with electrickery then get an auto sparky to look at it for you.
Got Some Dunlop Alphas on my 18" RVF.
Prob the best set of tyres ive had on it for everyday commuting/some weekend rides.
Is there much difference between the 12's and the old 10's that I used to have?
