All good, with fitting I'll probably just end up going with aj, esp as by myself, it'd be another 60$ for shipping (as costs not shared) :-). Who did your work? Aj?

Only front intakes were out. They were too tight. I would worry about doing them as the clearances tighten over time and could eventually damage the valves which is not good news. I got Honda Hamilton to do the work. If I was in Auckland I would have gone to AJ.

I had been meaning to get the clearances checked for years. It is a bit of a relief to finally get them done.

Oh yup. When were they last checked (if ever?) km's wise?

I'm thinking I could possibly do them maybe just with a service at some point in the future, but to be honest I really want to find an rvf to keep and sell this at some point (hopefully before kids come along ahaha) so not sure I could justify spending $500 in the near future when I'm told there's a high chance they could be fine

There was no service history with the bike and this was the first time I have had them checked. I am not actually sure how many kms I have put on the bike. Around 10,000 I think.

There was an RVF 400 going cheap on here a few months ago. Would be surprised if any more pop up for a decent price.

Bike is finally back together and rideable! Well I hope its rideable...

Turns out I am missing a piece of plastic that connects the nose cone to the inspection panel. When I was in the pits at hampton downs a piece of plastic dropped to the ground. Couldn't figure out where it came from. Now i know... I think it got thrown away as well

So now I have a small gap that is really annoying me. Hopefully a plastic welder can make up a new one although I am not sure if they can create a piece this large. Sadly the previous owners just glued anything that fell off and now I am paying for it

Support My Mate just dropped my VFR400r NC24

After spending half the day fixing the voltage regulator and on a test run my mate was riding my spare NC24 and lost it on some gravel.

He is OK for now, Bike is a bit damaged.

Snapped the gear lever off and the left foot pegs (Hanger), left mirror and fairings are not great now (Just painted and had new decals!), windscreen destroyed and upper fairing (Around headlight) badly cracked.

Anyone have a parts bike or have any of these parts to spare?

As much as I like putting bikes back on the road, that one is a mess, and given the kms you wouldn't get back what you put in..maybe at 200-500, but 1250!!

Anyone interested? :-) will put up on trademe if no one interested here - one panel may go to the uk - but would make sense to keep it here since I already paid shipping from japan!:-)

    VFR newbie

I have just brought a VFR800 I had read so many great reports on them and I have to say I love it.
I haven't had a bike for over 30 years. My last one was a Suzuki GSX 750 but sold it once I got my other half, as you do.
Anyway I haven't gone one any long runs yet, just around town and a few back roads to get into those windy corners.
    Cheers
    David

Hi David, I see you are in whangas. We do a thur night ride most thurs nights leaving kamo around 6. Usually go to a pub or cafe, all welcome, all levels. We don,t go that far and always regroup. If you are keen, give me your cell no and I will add you to the text list? Cheers, Al

Nc30 people might be interested - set of 4 plugs delivered from Amazon came to 77$ nzd delivered..cheaper than rick Oliver or David silver, and cheaper slightly than eBay. Certainly cheaper than the 35-40$/plug places here want to charge.

thanks for that. I got my last set from egay.... can't remember the price but it beat the locals by a considerable margin including the shipping.
