Whiny Diff was successful with that scenario when he parted out his sort after pile of rubbish.

There's a chap on a facebook page I'm part of that goes around rescuing old Nortons and stuff from boof heads in the US who chop them up and turn them into hideous choppers and bobbers. Some great before and after pics which fill my heart with warm fuzzies of the restoration. GOOD MAN!

I used to fancy an 860 GT when they were cheap to make a 900ss replica out of.

But hey, one bevel drive Ducati is enough

If you ask Kickaha he will probably tell you none is plenty.

Yeah. I've done time in two Ducati Dealerships now. I'd still own one (or more...)

The one bevel i'd own is the 250 mach one. I did the engine and fixed the frame on a restoration the wife's boss at the time did.
Finished up a magic little bike. He went to a DOC national rally and won best bevel, well deserved too.

I maintained one (1982 Darmah) for 50,000km, did couple of 1000 miler rides, Southern Cross and plenty in between, apart from valve clearances at 10,000km intervals it only needed oil and filter changes, I think the one time it didn't get me home the starter shit itself 400m from home at the local shop

I'd have my MHR back tomorrow if I could, one bit of shoddy workmanship prior to my ownership did eventually cost me 5K engine rebuild though

Poncy Italian bikes, too complex and overpriced parts, not like good old Kraut Bikes you can fix in your shed.

1000 mile ride....is there nothing else to do in the South?

Snap, i had the same bike! I have never fixed a bike so much in my life! Cracked both exhaust valve guides after a reshimming and seized on the valve stem wearing all the hard chrome of both rockers on both valves. Sprag clutch went. All the sprocket carrier bolts flogged out. Silentiums burst open. Tank rusted. Fork seals blew. Fuck I loved riding that bike! But it had to go!
