Really north Korea and russia and China journalists are prevented from posting true factual information
Trump and his supporters are being currently prevented from posting demonstrably false and misleading information.
Its rather telling that you can't tell the difference.

Private entities such as Twitter and Facebook can decide what is on their platforms as they are privately owned that their right.
what's odd is do you criticize the Russian media and election system.

    Breaking news

Reports are coming in of major civil unrest in Bananastan.
Many people in Bananastan felt there were problems with recent elections and a small group of protestors stormed a govt building.
The building is no stranger to invasion having been site of major protest at the appointment of a court judge Kavanah who was subject to false rape allegations. A time the time national media even
    Encouraged the protests.
The current sitting president of Bananastan has had his electronic communications severed by a biased private company.
President Biden says Merica.cant stand by while democracy is threatened and has deployed the USS Nimitz carrier battle group to the region to restore democracy.
Bananastan has significant military capability but Biden says they will carpet bomb with ZB52 bombers and paratroop will land and secure control until fresh elections can be held.
Biden promises to Build Bananastan back better after its all over and promises not to seize Bananastans significant oil reserves.
Satellite images show caravans of political refugees fleeing already across wide open borders to mexistan and canadastan.
ItÂ’s expected the president of Banastan will flee to a much safer freer country like China.

Anybody can say anything they like - within reason. Nobody has to listen, nobody has to provide a soap box.

In this instance some people have not stayed "within reason." Recent events indicate their consistent misinformation is dangerous.
The owner took his soap box back. No problem.

Not only that as the President of the usa he can hold a press conference and the reporters will film what he says and report it to word for word
Of course he doesn't want to do that, as he would also be asked questions that he doesn't want to answer.
The US president is a coward.

You seem like a smart guy but how have you misunderstood this situation so badly? Twitter is merely a school chalkboard for someones thoughts. In no way is it a news platform or a place to post factual information political or otherwise. In Trumps case, it has been used by the general population of the world to see what a fucked up cunt he really is. That has now culminated in his ban from the class chalkboard for swearing too much. He has been sent to the headmaster. Hope he gets six of the best!

I agree with what you and pritch are saying...

The problem is despite twitter not being used by much of the general population the mainstream media presents twitter as the medium of expression for what’s happening right now that’s important.
For someone whose operations have communication with general public as a core need as vital as water or electricity it’s bit right to cut off the fastest tool available.
Yes he can do press conferences but the media often cherry pick those to distort...

Just imagine if in the heydays of John Key if twitter had blanked out Jacinda mania from twitter and said oh no she’s nonsense.

What happened to the lefts idealism of equality for all or is that just a selective illusion?

Re the Jacinda thing, I am unaware of that as I do not follow social media for anything important in fact restricted to immediate family. So I only see the shitstorms brewing on the news or on forums. TBH, Twitter has done the world a favour banning this clown and should have done it a long time ago. For no other reason than to stop people relying on twitter for forming their opinions.

The point he is trying to make is what if they had of banned her from twitter.... well the real point that he misses is why would have? she wasn't inciting violence or spreading lies, they would need a reason the reason to ban her based on theor own rules they didnt ban her or others as they had no reason to. In the case of Trump as you said, they had ample reasons to ban him.

Some would say that's the opposite of what happened. Some journalists complained that if the press printed everything Trump said, it would quickly become apparent that he is a mental case, but the press would be accused of bias. So the press left out the weirdest stuff with the result Trump looked almost sane. A misleading impression. The press conference when he babbled about disinfectant and strong light curing Covid should have been a hint for anyone who hadn't already guessed, he's as dumb as a box of rocks. And no I'm not confusing ignorance with mental conditions, they are not mutually exclusive.

A lot of the current problems with coverage in the US can be attributed to President Reagan. There was a law requiring fairness in broadcasting but Reagan repealed it. Subsequently FOX, and more recently OAN, NewsMax, Sinclair, and all, can and do, broadcast all manner of fiction as fact. Maybe Biden should bring back whatever law Reagan ditched.

    .
There's a very good Aussie political journo called Katherine Murphy who works for the Guardian Oz. Couple of years back she was in the entourage when ScoMo met Trump.
She wrote a very good piece on watching the stream of conciousness babble that came out of Trump - and the media's problems boiling it down to something which made sense and was publishable...
Her comment was basically as you say - if the press told the truth they'd have been attacked.

But I can't help feeling that this was all a "staged event", in respect that certain actors from within the US political / business / military environments allowed Don just enough rope for him to not only politically "hang himself" (figuratively speaking) - but to justify further legislative change.

Knowing that Don could not resist initiating such an event, and that some of his followers would be only too willing to respond and participate. A little collateral damage to the Capitol building could be easily repaired. I mean, this whole episode was hardly at the level of say the Oklahoma bombing.

What did intrigue me was Biden's choice of the words "domestic terrorists" in his address that followed.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terror..._United_States

After 911, barely six weeks later, the 300+ page Patriot Act (which involved the granting of new administrative legal powers in respect of actions by foreign actors) came into being. Amazing not only that it was written in such a short time frame, but that it also successfully navigated all the Houses and came into law within that period as well.

Some have even said that the Patriot Act had already been written, and was just awaiting the right trigger (event) to justify its coming into being. An argument that I'm not really interested in debating.

But I do now wait with interest to see if a corresponding "Domestic Terrorist" Act (Patriot Act 2 ?) now comes into being, and within a similarly short time-frame.

Why ? Because after doing several quick Google searches (in response to Biden's words), the words "domestic terrorist" turned up several recent articles seemingly calling out the "apparent need" for such a Bill.

Not only stated by Biden himself (as recently as November 2020):

    https://www.wsj.com/articles/biden-a...sm-11605279834

But also by a range of various online publications e.g. Washington Post, Vox, Mother Jones, just to name a few that I noted.

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/natio...m-capitol-mob/
    https://www.vox.com/policy-and-polit...ism-definition
    https://www.motherjones.com/politics...-he-can-do-it/

Even the CFR got involved: https://www.cfr.org/in-brief/domesti...-and-democracy

I would have thought that the challenges of (i) Covid infection (ii) Vaccine production and national distribution (iii) economic recovery (iv) housing and employment situation would have been more than sufficient to keep the new Democrat administration busy for the next 12 months at least.

But I will watch and wait the possible appearance of a "Domestic Terrorism" Bill.

As for the Democrats choosing to (i) pursue impeachment (again) (ii) invoke the 25th Amendment (since they now control the Senate) - all while Don has only two weeks left to serve, well, I'm still laughing at the suggestions.
Jesus titty fucking christ. Who do you think is staging this?!?. Do you realise that the Democrats are not in power? What fucking crazy world does your head live in?

    Ok I'll type this slowly.

Trump and whatever is left of the Republican party after he routed it have been in power for the last 4 years. Does that register?

There are no Jews or shape shifting lizard people who are really pulling the strings.

I haven't had a proper look yet today but there are arrests happening across the USA. These arseholes don't look anywhere near as cocky in their mugshots. The guy carrying the plastic handcuffs would have been difficult to identify, he was also wearing a mask. I thought it likely he was law inforcement as his gear was good and was worn correctly. He had no official insignia but he did wear a badge, a map of Pannsylvania with a thin blue line through the middle which hinted at police from that state. But no, he's a barman and an air force veteran.

His gear is all too good actually; too top end to be common. His clothes are in an unusual colour, and that with their 'exclusivity' is what resulted in his identification and arrest.

Buffalo man has been busted too. Clever pic.

I'm reading that some of those arrested are claiming that they only did what the President told them too, in defense. Fair call, really.

Kinda opens up an interesting can of legal worms.

I cannot help thinking that they may of been better to hold off naming and arresting them for two weeks in case one or two of them are flush enough to buy a pardon from Trump.

Even by the own low Standards his supporters and excuse-makers hold Trump accountable to. It might not be the best call for a republican leader to pardon a mob of people that broke into a govt building past barriers and bludgeoned a policeman to death.
We are the replication party law and order, but it's okay to beat a policeman to death. This doesn't seem like a statement that will get people elected.
