Obviously such things matter a lot to some of you people. Not surprising really.

Just for the record, I have only just gotten back into bikes after perhaps 14 years of not having one. That pic was taken when I only had a couple of hundred ks on it from new. I am actually pleased that I have been able to get back into it quietly and taking it easy for a start. If other motorcyclists want to point and laugh at me, fine, I could not care less.

That's lucky. It'd suck to be you otherwise.

Are you this much of a sourpuss grumpy-poo all the time, or is it just an internet thing?

He's no hero, he's the irresponsible fucker who pulled out and rode past us doing a estimated 120+ on the back wheel down Great South road, should be banned from riding for a such a reckless disregard for his own and others safety

I've posted a few other far more interesting, and much funnier posts, and yet - incredibly enough - a comment about watching someone pull a wheelstand gets 9 fucking pages of shit...

For the record, I suck at long wheelstands, i pull em when no one else watches (less people laughing at me...), and the only thing that I do to impress other people happens in the privacy of my bedroom.
It’s diametrically opposed to the sanitised existence of the Lemmings around me in the Dilbert Cartoon hell I live in; it’s life at full volume, perfect colour with high resolution and 10,000 watts of amplification.

Dipshit... good on you for getting back into bikes!!! I appreciate your view on stunt biking, it obviously is not your thing. Many others see it as another skill in motorbiking. Where is the damage in that? You can argue extreme cases of stupidity, however, I have only seen wheelies done in low risk situations. I don't advocate people doing stupid stuff on public roads, but have no problem in them training their skills and pushing their limits when appropriate.

    Anyway... each to their own.

Oh yeah... nice bike I did my first wheelie on an SV it was kinda freaky. It was a friends bike and we were in a small group of 5 riders near Kaukopakopa. After a stop I gave it some herbs and proceeded to shit myself as I shot off up the road on one wheel. It definitely wasn't pretty, it all happened very quickly and best of all, no harm was done and I learnt from it.
    Enjoy summer!

The fact that you have to explain the situation regarding you and your bike suggests otherwise. The fact that your tyres show decidedly more wear in the center compared to the outside and the discolouration of the front header also suggests you like to talk utter shit.

Also, I still remember one of your opening posts in the stunting forum, since moved to PD as it deserved. Why post a thread in a forum dedicated to stunting stating "What a bunch of wank"?

    You're trolling, nothing better. Cock.

Obviously went a little over your head. Sorry, I'll speak slower. I'm no hero, just enjoy debating with people who believe themselves to have some sort of moral high ground yet actually know very little of what they're talking about.

As for your claim that everyone that sees a wheely thinks "Showoff" and "wanker", you've obviously researched that well.

I once did a wheelie during a photo shoot, the shot made the cover of the magazine, the retail sales of that issue rose 20% for that month. I think you're on your own.

Jeez. Who forgot to take their happy pills this morning? I thought personal insults were a one way ticket to PD?

Seriously folks, perhaps you're getting a little defensive um, passionate, over this issue. Some people like wheelies, others don't. It's hardly a life or death issue, now, is it? Sun's shining, good biking weather. That's what's important.

When I were but a young lad, I spent a lot of time trying to show off, and wheelies were a part of that. I certainly wasn't very good at them (did quite a bit of off-road riding where one or both wheels were off the ground though, and I was OK at that) - and I certainly wasn't doing them to improve my sheep-hopping skills. From where I sit now, many years on, it does seem to be a bit of a wank, to be honest, even though I'll acknowledge without question that doing a good wheelie takes more "mad bike skillz" than I'll ever possess (or ever want to). But if you wanna wheelie, fill yer boots. Just don't get into my personal space while you do it, is all.

BTW, I don't see the point of all the speed, stunts, and testosterone not because I ride a cruiser. I ride a cruiser because I don't see the point of all the speed, stunts, and testosterone.

Tell us all about the relative skill then - pay special attention to how there's unlikely to be any consequences other than a little pocket and pride damage if you cock up drifting and compare that to wheelieing on a bike.

I reckon this sums it up quite well. The profoundly different skill level to keep out of trouble is quite apparent.
If it wasn't for a concise set of rules, we might have to resort to common sense!

That's the best way i've heard it put in a fair old while. My idea of motorcycling is gettin out on the open road, seeing the country, feeling the world rush by and loving it. i have no desire to whip through the twisties with the revs in 5 figures and my knee scraping the asphalt, or to pull wheelstands or stoppies. Everyones picture of biking is different, some people wanna stunt, some people wanna cruise. Each to their own. So long as you enjoy yourself, ride smart and keep yourself and your fellow riders safe, then all the power to ya.

Had the opposite experience of the original topic this morning as i was riding to work. Pulled up at the lights next to a muscle car with a massive supercharger sticking out of the hood, thumping so loud i could feel it in my chest, and he was just idling. Gave him a nod, and just sat there as the light turned green and watched him turn right and lay down two big fat rainbows of rubber.
Who says you cant have fun on four wheels?
