Katman wins!!!. Cant see the opposition recovering from that knockout blow.
Thread author, how long have you been riding for mate?
The world will look up and shout "Save Us!", and I'll whisper "no"
Sorry, I came to this late. But then I'm a guy and I'm not supposed to come too quick...
This guys biggest crime was that he was riding a GN250, he shoulda at least been on a DR250 for that sort of caper.
If he lives long enough he could develop into a good rider. After all, we are all supposed to keep options available. He seems to have more options than most.

Answering your question... I am the thread author but this thread has been somewhat highjacked by other agendas. I'm 40 something, driving since I was 15, riding off road since I was 13, a cyclist since 11 with some serious K's under my belt but only taken to riding a M/cycle on the road this year because my V8 is a thirsty beast. And for some years I was a professional driver in Auckland so I tend to think I'm qualified to have a balanced opinion... if that's really what you're asking.
'Tis what footpaths are for , isn't it?
Saw a wee scooter do that today. Stopped at the Greenlane lights on Gt Sth Rd, and saw him filter along the left hand kerb, down a line of traffic, and stop at the front. To the left of a car signalling a (legal) left hand turn. Oh oh, I think. That could get ugly when the light changes. But no, he had it sussed. Indicator on ("M'gawd, he's not going to run the red straight into the solid stream of cross traffic is he ?"). Nope. Up onto the footpath and along Green Lane Rd he went.
No bitchslap from me.
