HAS THE PAPER ROUTE CHANGED MUCH FROM LAST YEAR? I still have the old one in my box and it would save my printer cartridge if I didnt have to change it.
The route is exactly the same as last year. Just a couple of minor corrections to distances but they shouldn't be an issue. If you are really worried about down load and electronic copy and compare it with your paper chart.

Not sure what you mean about the advroute site taking over your mapsource. ADVroutes should have no interaction directly with mapsource. Are you downloading the GPX file to your hard drive then trying to upload it to your GPSr using Mapsource or are you uploading to your GPSr directly from ADVroutes using Garmin Communicator?

Mitas C-02. And it's not made in a big 18" size.

120/90 isn't that big,but I'm sure the tread more than makes up for it.Seriously, that pic doesn't do it justice. But reading round the net, some people love them, some hate them.but most that hate them are on out and out MX bikes and probably comparing them to their expensive Pirelli race tyres.

It's not about the tread, but the carcass. The bike is supposed to have a 140/80-18, fitting a 130/80 is okay, but going to a 120/90 sounds suicidal.

Arrow Rainbow not opening the 28th

Just rang DOC to find out about the Molesworth and to confirm it is opening. Also asked St Anaurd DOC what the weather is like cause we were hoping to ride the Rainbow on Monday (22nd Dec). Turns out that the Rainbow will be opening on the same date as the Molesworth from now on i.e. the 28th December. I rang the Rainbow Station to confirm this, which they did. We cant get the key in time so over the lewis for us. If any others want to use the Rainbow to travel to NN before the 28th either try and organise a key now or you'll have to find a different route.

    Cheers R

not sure how & may be leaving it a bit late to get key posted. Can you just turn up & hope?

Otherwise I'll just do Porika & Braeburn. Ive not been thru the lewis on a bike so will be another new experience. I'll be seeing enough of the rainbow I guess on the DB.

How many days now mr ticktock?

If you ring and ask nicely often that will get you an arranged key pickup from the homestead up the North end (not to be confused with the old homestead that is further south where you pay the toll in open season).
If you just turn up unannounced you're almost certainly guaranteed to be told to piss off.

Nothing wrong with the Lewis, it's also generally a nice ride.

Anyone from Christchurch riding up on the 1st / 2nd?

I'm keen to travel up early and run over some of the more difficult sections on the 2nd.

Anyone in chch keen over the next few days to do a run through Lees Valley??
Preferibly in the evening some time just to try out bike and lighting and it also give a chance to meet some of the mad people that are actually going to do this.

I'm sure I could twist Transaplers arm to a trip like this.
