bugged bro. How long till you are fully healed up ? which bones did you break ? got a cool x-ray to show us ?

LankyBastard
26th June 2011, 20:49
Should take around 4-6 weeks to fully heal I think, but the cast will be off in around 2 weeks. Haha no haven't got any cool pics, they only show you it on a screen quickly anyway! And I could barely make out the fractures. I broke my 4th and 5th metatarsal bones in my right foot. I think it got caught between the bike and the tree as I went for a flight over the bars :nya:
Was a total pain as i was due to test ride a bunch of other dirt bikes today!!! Ah well I can wait

We wont be able to get the support of the Police if people are flouting the law. And of course, there wont be any sympathy for those that do turn up with bikes missing a rego or wof and then promptly get a ticket from the officer attending.

Nass and Sass

Hey guys, i hail from Nass.

Haven't asked any Nass guys yet but since we are in the "quieter" months i thought it would be cool to do a one off combined Nass/Sass night, trade secrets, have competitions, and enjoy a nice cold beer afterwards.

Just a thought, though i think it would be really cool and a lot of fun!!

At least the bike has screw all damage and you didn't have to learn losing the front the hard way into a ditch or oncoming traffic! That's what it's all about I reckon eh.

Yeah, I made it home alright. Wrist is still sore as a bastard so I might need to get an xray tomorrow :(

Let us know how the x-ray turns out! And I wouldn't want to make a habit of unloading a bike on your steep driveway!

I'm off my bike for a bit now too, had a car pull an illegal u-turn directly in front of me this afternoon, so the poor zx-6r is currently missing most of it's front fairing and is in the dealers getting assessed. Luckily the car driver owned up and neither of us got hurt. And I knew there was a reason I hated riding in the central city.....

Went to the doctors today, they said the xray looked fine so off I went to uni when I got a call. Upon closer inspection I had a very small fracture. Sat a physics test left handed, teacher will enjoy that and now I have a cast on. No riding for a couple of weeks.

I also inspected my bike cause I noticed the right foot peg was on a slight angle. It's mounting plate thing has cracked :angry2:

Guys, Sorry to hear about your off's. Glad that both of you are ok (well not at least too badly damaged).

Debrief your accidents in your head, look for the things (plural) that went wrong leading up to the falls. You will find something that changes the way you ride, makes you safer. Remember there is always more than one thing that contributed to the fall, not just the most obvious one.

Hope to see you all back soon.

Hi guys,

Doesn't look like i'll be able to make it this evening, bike is still in the shop and parts have to come from Japan, so i'm off the road for around 3 weeks. Luckily the KTM is going strong so not off two wheels all together!

Have a good evening and i'll see you all again as soon as possible.

Oh and no more damaged bikes or bones please.

See you all as soon as I can!

Anyone is welcome to turn up to NASS - the evening is totally targetted at new riders. Best if you and your bike are road legal but apart from that what you ride is not important. It's a fun evening, normally runs wet or fine (thanks to the instructors who keep turning up) and riders can get as much (or as little) as they want from it. Shell Servo at Westgate for a ride that ends up at the Albany Megacentre so read Post #1 for the details - these haven't changed.

Strangely no, but mum and dad gave me quite new toys while the police decided it is ok to have me riding a seven year old bike with 90k on the clock. Now 90k is not a lot for a BMW touring bike, but it hasn't been riden like a tourer has it. As for my poor TRX, my bad. I miss it. It wasn't the fastest bike I have ever owned, but it was the most fun.

Last night I mentioned that from October 1st 2011 that there is no longer a 70Km/h speed restrictions for those on a learners licence, and there was some debate about it.

The change is contained in the "Land Transport (Driver Licensing) Amendment Rule 2011 (SR 2011/306)". You can read it here:
http://www.legislation.govt.nz/regulation/public/2011/0306/11.0/DLM3956503.html#DLM3956503

Specifically, it repeals the existing legislation with regard to the 70km/h restriction, and simply replaces it with this text (which no longer mentions any speed restriction):

Clause 16(1) is amended by revoking paragraph (d) and substituting the following paragraph:
“(d) in the case of a Class 6L licence, where the holder is riding a motorcycle, the holder—
“(i) must—
“(A) ride an approved motorcycle; and
“(B) display on the vehicle an ‘L’ plate as specified in clause 66; and
“(ii) must not—
“(A) ride between the hours of 10 pm and 5 am; or
“(B) use the motorcycle to tow another vehicle; or
“(C) carry another person on the motorcycle or in a sidecar attached to the motorcycle.”

Attis

So what is the "approved motorcycle"? Any cc limit?

6th October 2011, 21:24
So what is the "approved motorcycle"? Any cc limit?

There is seperate legislation to deal with that. The LAMS scheme has not yet been brought in, so yes, a road legal bike up to 250cc.

Attis
6th October 2011, 21:29
Ah and find the answer...

“approved motorcycle means the make and model of any motorcycle that—

“(a) has an engine capacity of 250 cc or less, unless the Agency has prohibited the use of that make and model of motorcycle by notice published on the Agency's Internet site; or

“(b) has an engine capacity of more than 250 cc but not more than 660 cc and a power-to-weight ratio of not more than 150 kilowatts per tonne and is approved for use by the Agency by notice published on the Agency's Internet site.

It's interesting to see the amount of power being applied during the 180. How far apart are those cones in the 180 section? 3m? And I assume the rear brake light during that section is the rear brake being used?

Are those brakes interlocked, or independent?

I keep meaning to get the diagrams from the instructor. I will ask tomorrow about the distances. The front and rear are linked, but the front is not activated when you use the rear (front braking aplies the rear but not the other way round).

What is the David Gilmour/Pink Floyd song?

No the road in the vid is heading east from SH1 somewhere North East of Te Hana. Could have been out toward Mangawhai. We did do Westcoast/Woodcocks though.

Hey guys,

Since I want to leave at 6.30pm on the dot, I will do a quick ride briefing now:

- If I feel the need for a marker on a corner I will point to the corner and the person behind pulls safely onto the side pointing in the direction of the leader.

- No dangerous passing maneuvers, or overtaking the leader.

- If there is a problem with somebody's bike and they need to slow down, slow down with them until the leader has been notified and then we can sort out a solution.

- No one goes behind TEC

- Enjoy the ride.

Leave from BP in Westgate, then end up in Albany Carpark till around 8.30ish then get a beer afterwards.

Though may be more time efficient to leave at Warkworth?

Not to put a halt to your plans but last time we did woodcocks (20-11-11) it was covered in gravel and the repairs were falling apart to. all on corners.
You might want to check what state it is in before heading up.
