No. I had a Mk I Cortina. Maybe you weren't paying attention.

Wasn't referring to you. 'You' was a generalisation.

The two door version of these was the original Capri.

Mk1 & MkII Consul = 4 cylinder versions of the mkI and Mk 2 Zephyr 6 (dont think there was a Mk III Consul)

3litre V6 was the english motor, 2.3V was the german one. 3litre V6 was in the mk IV Zephry (very first models were 2.5 litre) 2.3 was originally in the Grenada, but ended up in the Capri and also the Mk IV and Mk V Cortina. V4 versions were also used in the Transit van (english) and Taunus car (german)

English/ Euro fords were quite good in that they had a common bell housing pattern, made engine swaps real easy (I put a 1300 Kent into a 105E Anglia, went quite well completely stock
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.

The MkIII Zephyr was available with either a four and six cylinder - the four was 1.7 litre and had a grill which was between the headlights whereas the six was 2.5 litre and the grill included the headlights.

Ford used the Consul name on the Mk1 and 2 Consul - shortened versions of the Zephyrs
The Consul 315 - sometimes called the Consul Classic - also the Consul Capri - a gorgeous looker
    The Consul Corsair
The Consul Cortina - the first of the Mk1 version without aeroflow ventilation
The Consul [Granada] of the 1970s

Consul seemed to indicate it was a four cylinder car - either a straight four or vee-four, think some Consul [Granadas] had the smaller vee-six engines

Now can we get back to British Leyland and their vast range of impressive vehicles, including Sherpa vans.

Shall put the anorak back in the wardrobe now...

You'll need a V8 and some real shock absorbers with that :)
