I have just checked Metservice and look whats coming....... (http://www.metservice.com/default/index.php?alias=allnzrainradar)

I'd say by 6.30 its going be raining cats n dogs. However, if for some reason the weather decides against all odds, if its still dry outside @ 7.15 then I will be down at the Albany Carpark. Otherwise I will be home, warm in front of the fire catching up on some study.

What pisses me off is when I donate one of my free nights for rider training and end up standing in the rain with only 1 or 2 riders turning up.

:cold: fair call. we love you lots and appreciate your help, really we do

had to work a little longer than usual and when i rode up to westgate last night it was a little late and must of missed everyone so i went for a wee run out to piha instead. it was raining and i thought NASS may be canned so didnt wander past albany on my way back home. hope you all had fun and learned lots.

How the hell can you get Jet-lag coming from Melbourne? It takes about the same time as driving to Cambridge and back.

I even do Melbourne as a day return trip if I cannot be assed staying overnight.

Harden up and see you tonight ! (hard to get polite sarcasm to come across when typing - so understand that this is written nicely)

Hmm, weather's looking surprisingly good.. I may be out tonight..

Or I may be holding a barbeque. So dependent, don' expect me but I may be there to surprise y'all :D

@Reido: Things the NASS involves chnages every week, mostly basic skills like cornering, emergency stops are always popular, rounda-bouts, slow speed balance. Usually what happens is everyone gets a say if they want to learn something in particular, if not the organisors usually have a clever new thing each week.

So come on down and make a shout, if there's something you want to do, just ask. Otherwise, there'll be fun to be had regardless.

It's also a great oppourtunity to talk to some really experianced blokes (and the occasional lass) about anything you want to know.

And it's on every wednesday.

I might try and make it out this wednesday.

I'm riding a red VTR250

Nagash
14th October 2008, 23:21
I'll be there on a bright yellow cruiser, so it shouldn't be too hard to spot.

But really.. it's the ugliest, nerdiest looking bikers all riding 250's in the small space that is Westgate Shell. We'd be bloody hard to miss.

Plus we're the only group that meets at that spot, at the time, on that day..

Did you do coatseville-riverhead or ridge road?

The Coatseville road is usually done with a fair bit of pace because we do it every week.. We've discovered that you can do 80km/h's (the speed limit on that road) on every inch of that road.

But as always ride your own ride, no one cares if you go slower then them, and if you really miff 'em off they'll just pass you.

The tail end charlie was WAY behind the main group, EJ was behind us when we turned off for Ridge road.. what on earth were you doing by the way? Haha.

We all keen to perhaps do Ridge road on the way there tonight?

If the weather stays as beautiful as it is at the moment.

Decision will be made tonight depending on who's willing to do it when we see y'alls, it's abit longer and alot twistier but it'll be good fun to take advantage of this weather.

and it'll give Steve another reason to regret not coming :bleh:

Glad to hear you guys had a good time without me.

I on the otherhand didn't.. Came home from Tauranga starting at midnight.. Forgot to fuel up since Paeroa on the way down, desperatetly searching for a 24 hour gas station and didn't spot any up to Paroa on the way back. Hit reserve at Paeroa and started to have a wee bit of a panic.. bloody hick towns.. but managed to find one in Ngatea 15km's before I woulda run out of gas..

And then after I got fuel my chain had stretched so was slipping all the way back to Auckland! Figured it just wasn't my night to do a midnight ride so woke up a mate who lives en route and stayed there the night and sorted out my chain.

So

This evenings instruction will include a session on how to handle external wind forces when riding your motorcycle. Note the use of the word external so please leave onions, garlic, baked beans and other generators of internal wind out of the thread!

As you all found last weeks stuff harder than I expected I've come up with a couple more devious common place things to practice.

I don't dissolve if I get wet, my motorcycle won't either so even if it is raining I'll see you at West City before 7pm or Albany just after 7.30pm.

Top night...
Thanks folks !...

Agree with the wind over the bridge !, christ.... but, took the advice, tooked myself right down on the bike and tipped out the right knee a bit !, didn't stop me cacking my pants, but at least stopped me from soiling them!

Cheers for the lead back home imw-hornet !, was certainly helpful to follow someone else over who found the windy bits slowed them down a bit !

Mark, Cheers for the skills, good as ever... feels good to know i'm picking things up! (slowly)

See you all next week !

Yeah, no rain forecast.... and hopefully won't be as bloody windy ! :)

Would be keen to do a ride also, if that's the consensus! The trip from Westgate up to Albany is currently about the longest single trip journey I do... :).

As long as we don't plan to do more than 150k's i'm up for it !.. (bike's in for it's 1k Service on Thurs Morning)

I prefer the normal format. I need the skills training!.. and I am lucky enough that if I wanted to go for a group ride, I could also go on the Thursday night ride.

Yep you are right. We are meeting at Shell near Westgate, thats the end of NWestern Motorway (West). Then from there we will head out to an Albany Carpark (around 7:00) for a practice. It will be good to have you two on board :woohoo:

You can't miss the Shell Petrol Station. It is between the KFC and McDonalds

And we promise we will behave! (Ey Nagash & Fizzy!)
