If my pegs are scraping through corners, am I leaning over enough?
I want to test your chalk idea anyway, I reckon the bike could lean further.. just need smaller pegs.
It's not a matter of weather you are leaning over enough or not. It's about checking your perception of yourself versus reality.
If you were expecting to scrape your pegs, and you did, then your picture of relality is on the mark. However if you didn't know you were about to scrape the pegs and you did they you need to reset your preception, as you are mistakenly thinking you have more ground clearance than you do - which could be a problem in a corner if you need to tighten the line. :)
Yeah... I would start moving my body off the bike now so that it doesn't need to lean as far, keep in mind that the more tread you have the more grip you will have and the safer you will be.
Search up on how to lean off a bike or go onto www.abbiss.co.nz for some great riding info.
But hey, at least you aren't afraid to lean over!
+1. If you do run out of lean angle you need to move your body more.

Not always correct.
You also need to look at what tyres you have on, the type of bike etc.
I would never get my KTM on the same lean angle as my gixxer.
You don't have to "get off the bike" to make a corner faster, just follow Greg.

hahaha. And yes, considering your tyres is something you could do *before* you get to the corner.
EDIT: And yes, considering your tyres is something you could do *before* you hop on the bike.

And what the tyres are to be used for.
But what you are saying is correct. My first time at Pukky i was rubbing my foot on the apex at castrol. Looking at the photos later that week I relised I had a very bad seated postion (feet out).
Fixed now but when I get tired I start to return to old habits.
The same also applies to those that get off the bike bike every corner, or too far off the bike, for no reason.

You should be road legal. That means you should have a current registration, WOF, licence with a class '6', and if you need an L plate, one of those as well.
Why don't you come and join us for the ride as well? Be more fun.

Might be awhile before I manage to get out for the ride again. Rego just about to run out and I cant afford/justify it at the moment.
Im thinking of parking her up for a few weeks to do some much needed maintenance. Once it starts getting a bit warmer Ill definately get her back on the road. Although, I was colder sitting on the hoist in the shed at work then I was riding home tonight, in the rain. But once I get the cage back, its got a heater....
Hopefully see you guys again soon.

The weather hasn't been the best for a while. But this time it didn't rain. The road was wet. And there were thick pockets of fog on the usual ride. But for a change, I actually road better than I have been of late, and had a great time.

I really hate going somewhere where I'm not quite sure who is who. So if someone who recognises me and my bike (look in my profile) come and say hi that would be a help. I just don't want to do what I did on a blind date one time (approach the wrong person, think he thought I was a prossy looking for a "date") mortified...

I don't tend to get there till just before 7pm. I don't know how early others arrive. So don't get worried if you are the only one there at 6:45pm. You can always fill up with petrol and check your tyre pressure while you are waiting.

The group size is small these days (sadly). Maybe 4 to 6 riders. We tend to mostly get moderately skilled riders along who have been coming for quite a while, and the odd new person. However we mainly aim to cater for the newer person, and the riding is based around this.

I'm just getting back into the swing of things after a few years without two wheels.
Just bought a VTR250, but she's a bit bigger than my last bike, so have a 'Back to Biking' confidence course booked this week.
Hoping to do a little home service on it, oil etc.
Replace a few broken parts, lever and footpeg (thanks to a little mishap with the kickstand and a sloped driveway)
once all that's done, I'm looking forward to coming along one week. :ride:

Hey Reibz, yeah that was me heading down to Taupo. Recognised you when you got on the motorway - was going to overtake, but didn't want to scare you with the supreme fly-by power of the sv;)
Two days down in Taupo was awesome (i though that you was you bosslady, but wasn't sure). As always, pretty slick event by the MotoTT team. If some of you guys are keen, maybe go to the next playday at Hampton Downs (there's a novice group there on the 13th April i think)
There was bit of roadworks on the way down, and copped the lime again between Tokoroa and Taupo - I'd cleaned the bike after the ride on Wed. night, so was mighty pissed. Must admit though, the bike sliding around on all that gravel was pretty cool once i relaxed.

Hey Dan
Washed the bike as soon as i got home - nothing special, pretty much all came off. I had washed (and polished) the bike the weekend before, so that may have helped. Same thing when i got back from Taupo, washed off easy enough - stone chips from all that new seal on SH1, different story though.

Providing the car park is not wet, we'll do a similar thing, but with a view to shortening our stopping distance (by counting how many car parks it takes). We'll probably aim to do the exercise at 30km/h to 40km/h.

Well to be honest the australian roads are full of pot holes! But, great ocean road (Melbourne to 12 Apostles) has to be the highlight so far - a really twisty coastal road and we even saw wild koalas on the way. We did the 2 week, 2500k round trip over xmas to Canberra, Melbourne, and along the south eastern coast back up to Sydney. It was pretty tiring at times, the Canberra to Melbourne leg took 11hrs (google said 9! ) which as you know is super tiring on a bike, but well worth it in the end

Would personally like to thank Phil for taking time out of his life and running this thing. I think my riding has vastly improved since attending these rides. Although I don't always agree on everything thats said I take it all onboard regardless.
If anyone is still keen on getting a NASS crew together for a Track day out at Hampton the next dates are the 13th and the 20th of April according to the hdticketting website. I got 2 bikes I can run so will probably take a trailer out. Also PM me for midweek rides, not always avaliable but always keen if time permitts.

* I spoke about the terrible injuries that Brittany Morrow suffered while wearing her bikini and coming off a motorcycle. Her story is here: http://www.rockthegear.org/index.php?/testimonials/view/brittany_morrow_the_roadrash_queen/
* I mentioned the Masterton hill climb. Have a look at this for some rider skills. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KubGVzd64rg
Amazeballs! and some 140kph wheelies in there for good measure!

Some good skills learnt last night. Always good to go over the basics and I enjoy the slow pace and social aspects of this ride.
Keep safe out there
I see they only have a novice group running on the 13th - only medium and fast on the 20th. I'd be keen for the 13th.

You guys and girls are all welcome.
Just a note that I won't be there this Wednesday as I'm taking my wife away for a long weekend.
But you guys and girls should still go along, even if only for a ride and a social chat.

I strongly encourage everyone to take responsibility for themselves, and part of that is listening to and getting information from different people and sources, and then weighing it up in your mind as what is best for you. I try to present different different opinions out there. I am certainly not an expert rider. :)
So good on you.

So much for a quick fix...
Bat of the eyelashes and had a few guys come look at it for me.
They have to order me a speedo cable as mine is too tight and run the risk of snapping it. :shit: they've loosened it off for now,
once they have replaced it (sometime next week) they will take my wheel off to look at the pins, they think something isn't lined up correctly and therefore causing the noise.
My Q: can I still ride her?
A: If you don't have to, don't, but if it hasn't already caused damage it won't cause much more.
not very incouraging  was a nervous ride back to work. still got to go home yet.

I finish work at around 7 tonight so will meet at the carpark. But if you guys decide to go the standard Coatsville route then let me know and I will try and meet you half way somewhere. If you fail to spot me anywhere im already at the pub getting to the piss and chatting up the bar maids.
Need some more KM's on the busa, and yeah its getting to cold to ride the 2km to work in my t shirt and jeans now. Probably have to start wearing my road gear all the time now...

I love riding over the bridge in high winds, I would have something to say about it having ridden over it in every imaginable weather (for Auckland), but might just sit at home and watch 'Race to Dakar' tonight instead.
