Sounds good to me... I don't need to do any maintenance on my bike currently as it's just had a major service of everything. The only things I yet need to do on my bike are 2 new tires and replace the oil in the forks...
But I'll do the cone riding and watch the training on servicing, see if there are any techniques that'll make it easier for next time it's due for an oil change, in about 6000 Kms...

You going to have enough tools ?, or would it be an idea to bring some shit ?

You know how with the cones, we have a easy / medium / hard runs...
can we have a "I've never so much as done an oil change, oil scares me, it's black and slippy, oh and by the way, what the hell is this spanner thing, I just though that was an insult ?" group ?, Cause if so... that's where you'll find me :D

A reminder to those that attend that tonight's NASS is the basic mechanical evening at Millars Car Centre, 25 Corban Ave, Henderson.

Meet at Shell Westgate as per usual for the ride to Frosty's place.

If you normally just arrive at Albany you may be there all by yourself so come across a little earlier to Shell Westgate.

See post #1001 on this thread for more details.

BIG CHEERS to Frosty for tonight. Was a good lot of explanation for those mechanically unenlightened, and some good new stuff even for us spanner-heads

I think it was sharry on that corner? she was behind you, and pulled over to a stop, then somehow came through behind us at that corner at the bottom of the residential after a couple of minutes. Dunno what the heck happened there???

Great info tonight FROSTY, I am nor sure who should have been on the 3rd corner. I thought it was the 2nd rider that stops at the corners .
I stopped at one point to let the van behind me get in front but at that point I couldnt see you guys in front as I couldnt keep up with you.
I cought up at the 4th turn off and Badger and was it Ian both stopped on that one.
Any how it was a good night.

Sly Guy what happened to you on the way to the motorway. I went onto the north western towards westgate and you wern't behind me. I came back to Lincoln Rd but couldn'd find you.
Just hoping that there was nothing wrong with you.

Badger was it you and TOTO in front of me that stopped at corner 4? I think it was TOTO that was pointing to the left somewhere near corner 3 but I didn't take it as an indication that I should stop as I thought it was always rider two that stops. I thought he was indicating to something on the road to be avoided.

The corner we're talkin about was the right hander where the van was turning left. Coming up the straight it was Frosty in front, You #2, Me #3, and imwHornet in behind me. No others in sight behind. Frosty went round it, and stopped. You stopped behind him, so myself and ian moved off when frosty moved off again, figuring you had realised it was a corner for pointing.

Sharry: Oh snap! Not to worry, we all made it in the end.
And also, I saw what happened on the way home: At the motorway onramp Lincoln Rd, you entered the Westbound direction of the motorway, and the others got on the citybound direction, I think. You were right up in front till that bit.

Guys n gals following on from last night. Howasabout we have a training night/hands on spanner night.
This is my thought.
Meet up at westgate as normal.
Someone (other than loose the whole crew frosty) leads the group on a 20 minute ride on the backroads leading to my place
From there those wanting to do cone work /slow riding etc can do so to hearts content at the factory over the road
Those wanting to do minor stuff to their bikes like brake pad change, oil change, chain tension etc can come up and do so.
Kinda a --My bike needs %$%$$ can we do it? night.
If this is a go then my thinking is individual people organise the parts they need and then we get the job done.

Heres a question from out in left feild.
Would any of you lot be interested in experiencing a front end washout type crash and or rear wheel slide out type crash BUT in a situation where the result is not damage to yourself OR your bike??

Heres the thing --The lil park where I have the kids days is pretty dug up at the moment its basicly all bulldust on every corner.
The lil trailees are slipping and sliding around like buggery and if you rode them like a road bike--feet up and leaned -the wheels wash out.
If they dont Ill pump the tyres up really hard so they do
you then stand up --or land on ya butt but its so slow and low you just laugh and dust yaself off
It feels the same as a slide on diesel or gravel would on the road bike.

Firstly... Thanks to everyone tonight, I personally knew next to feck all about the combustion engine, other than the $$$ they cost me... so enlightening to find out some more !

It's always very hard to work with a mixed ability audience, and I think it was done just right ! :)

The whole night was really cool for me, to the point I got the suspension adjusted on the bike, and tightened the chain, (cheers for the help on those guys).. The ride home felt complete different, I can't wait to give it a bit of a try on some nice twisties !

I would very much welcome this being a regular feature... and really appreciate that you're offering your facilities so easily !

I found out the road is gravel on the S-bend before the bridge out of Riverhead. But the worst part is that my bike got covered in white lime splatter (right after being fully cleaned the night before :crybaby: )

Maybe need to take a Detour next Wednesday?

I'd quote lots of different by names / models... but I don't know many :)..

However... One thing I did learn from Frosty's Garage experience.....

Degreaser.... HOW GOOD IS THAT SHIT !

I bought a big ass tub of it (the water soluble stuff, as I was using it on my driveway), spray it on, leave it 10 mins... grab the hosepipe....
OMG... I usually give the hyo a good clean every few weeks, but this time had left it a bit longer...

This shit is the bizzle ! the bike looks like new again! (after a went around a bit more with a squirty gun and a cloth.....) I just need some polish now !

I was so close that it was a head-on crash.:shit:I ended on his bonnet shoulder charged the windscreen (totaled it).:Punk: Unfortunately my right leg got caught between the bike and car. I have massive bruising from crutch to toes BUT no broken bones. :Punk: In the ambo it looked like at least 3 brakes, it's amazing what body can cope with and bounce back. Never, never again will I catch a bus for 7 hours... NOw i'm not the tallest bloke so you'd expect that seats would be able to fit me but I had to sprawl across the aisle because I couldn't fit..

But the ride back on the new beastie.. my god.. talk about fun.

This thing's an absolute monster, i'm lost for words.

Ended up racing a bright red ferarri on the way back and keeping in the lead. Got up to 160 before I started to lose him, had plenty more in reserve.. Took the thing off the speedo (180) and that was in fourth gear... two more to try out.

I swear i'm in love. Tried to time my 0-100 time at the lights but it was offer so fast I was more concentrating on holding on then getting past '1'.

Just give it the respect it deserves while you're getting the hang of it, and you'll be right. As i learnt very quickly, it only goes as fast as you tell it to

If you wanna come along next wed throw some gear in the car and stop by mine after work. We'll cruise over on the beastie and you can drive back later with no traffic :)

Although it's rather somethign that should be discussed over a cold beer,

I support the transition. As had been mentioned, it's all in the wrist.

Perosnally, i've been showing no restraint what-so-ever doing well over 111km/h's (which is supposedly enough to kill you) and that's just on a 750.

Speed still feels the same, you just don't have to rev the tits off it to get there.

Indeed. The biggest thing i'm loving is the fact that she just happily purrs away on the open rd, vs having to work it on the 250. And if i need to pass someone, i can give it a squirt and do it swiftly and much more safely than when i was lacking power.
And is nice and smooth through the corners... not this bucking and skittering the 250 did on the rougher roads.

Treat it with the respect it deserves and you'll be right mate

So i threw him on the back of the beastie and took him for a blat up Old North Rd, Peak Rd, and SH16 up to Wellsford. Then back the same way for added funsies :sunny:
Was a good bit of practice for me carryin a pillion too, my poor bike with 3 people worth of weight on it! :weep: But it held up well, and went like a trooper. Still handles remarkably well, just a little sluggish on the power as compared to normal :bleh:
