Excellent mate. Will be good to have a gander at your gear up close and personal.
Whatever happen to "introductory price"? Some people have no sense of adventure haha

Be all good to see you there quasi :) shame about the new gloves not being there yet..
Good gear is a must have and i really like the quasi gear, i go on and on about it...
Sunday is looking clear now :woohoo: can't wait.
Was nice weather on the ride to whangamata today, was a little hot in the way that i could feel the tar moving with my tires at one point... shinny spot = bad  I saw about 15 bikes between hamilton and waihi, then it was all me to whangas, love those twisties.
I have to say kawhia is still my all time favourite ride, we should do that again some stage.
Anyways, look forward to seeing everyone there on sunday.

Has anyone else noticed that the gastly "kwaka green" concentrated itself when parked up?? It seems to spread to other bikes that's near it :D I see 3 bikes that are infected in the first shot! Poor little buggers, never had a chance.
Thanks for the brekky Murray and Dave & Krissy thanks for the BBQ (Krissy you'll have to tell Dave since he doesn't know how to do anything on this).
I agree, it was good to see some new faces. Nice road, apart from the rally section.

Hey Everyone, wicked ride on sunday, i think we have an awesome group going with these laxed out rides.
Thanks again to murray for breakfast and Dave & Krissy for the bbq.

I will chuck up some pics in a gallery in my profile some stage today, didn't get heaps but got enough :)
I would be keen on catching up for a meal or a few beers at some stage, see what everyone looks like in civvies rather than leathers - just an idea.

Sorry, I tend to repeat myself all the time
Just read back about Kaiaua, sounds cool. If you plan the run, it would be only fair that you are on it. If you figure out the route and send it to me when you know you an come along it would be sweet.

Yep - 'twas a great ride......although the new seal was a bit of a bugger for me on 22...Waingaro to Ngaruawahia is much better when it is not pissisting down and blowing a gale like last time I went through there.....
A possible route for another day below:
<iframe src="http://www.quikmaps.com/ext2/85143?t=1&ln=0&sn=1&zb=0&d=1&o=0&lat=-37.9304413&lng=175.3766441&zl=9&mt=2" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" width="1036" height="402" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0"></iframe>
Quite a well used route as far as Otorohanga but the bit east of Kihikihi is less used, especially following the west bank of the river from Arapuni Road to Leamington.
Just an idea.

Getting all technical again Mister Koz!!! Not on the USS Enterprise now!!
Good idea drinks and meal. I could suggest the Te Rapa Tavern as they do pretty good pub grub, 30+TV's with all the sports channels, TAB and Pokie machines!!!
For those out of town or interested I could to a Room and Breakfast for 2 at the Hotel for $69 or $55 for single person. Saves drinking and driving and if we did it on a Saturday night we could leave in the morning for a good run.
Just an idea???? Otherwise more than keen for some bevvies anytime/anyplace

The whole route is around 200km long. Petrol available at Otorohanga or Te Awamutu. Coffee at Pirongia or Otorohanga or Te Awamutu. Not a lot between leaving Kihikihi and arriving at Leamington. I can do the whole run on 2/3 of a tank of gas.
Route notes as follows:
North up SH1 to Ngaruawahia. Left onto SH39 at BP or can go L through Saulbrey Road to avoid roadworks just south Of Ngaruawahia.
South on 39 to Whatawhata. South on 39 to Pirongia. South again towards Otorohanga. Optional deviation (worth it) R onto Ngutunui Road (towards Kawhia) to intersect with SH31. Left here, follow valley back to SH39 and on to Otorohanga.
From Otorohanga follow Ouruwhero Road/Pokuru Road to Te Awamutu. Ouruwhero Rd is accessed by going Left at the North end of Otorohanga's main drag - kind of opposite the Mobil station - you go left when you reach the hill - main road goes to the right around the hill - we go left.
At Te Awamutu go R on Bank road and join SH3. South to Kihikihi. Left onto Arapuni Road, through Parawera and Pukeatua and beyond.
Bear left onto Oreipunga Road. (If you get to Arapuni Dam you have missed this......) Follow this through Horahora and Maungatautari villages and on to Leamington. Return to Hamilton either SH1 or Kaipaki Road.........

Just a thought to avoid highyway 1;
We can head down wairere drive and turn left onto resolution drive, right onto thomas road then left onto horsham downs road, left onto lake road right onto river road then left onto highway 1 thyrough ngaruawahia.
My main reasoning is traffic and bordom :) SH1 to ngaruawahia is quite flat, a little dull and busy with trucks.
Opinions?

Thats right it did too.
I was thinkin horshom downs road cause we don't want to be too repetitive or annoy too many farmers on consecutive weekends :)
That quickmaps thing is cool, i am going to plot our past rides down on there and will post them to people who want them.

Ok My turn now mister koz and i are taking a battering because of the green kwacka green is the dominant colour so therefore you should all bow down to the mean green kwacka machines, resistance is futile you shall become one of us weather you like it or not. we will even except black kwackas as we know that there is green just bursting to get out and they look soo good in the photos. but now to next weeks ride the route that is being discussed sounds good lets hope the weather holds

harsh but fair it wont happen again

:2guns:booyaa!! He shoots, he scores. Thank you for coming, please come again. :)
Haven't looked at the route but anything with twisties is fine by me. Starting to get the hang of this motorbicycling thing. I may even have to have a bit of a practice run during the week since it's around my turf this time.
Agree about 39 being mad in the weekend but also agree that it sounds like it can't be avoided. In saying that it does seem 70% of the time when we rock up to cars in a pack they move out of the way if they can.
Just need to put those bloody green things up front and they'll move ;)
Murray, the room rate sounds bloody good idea for Brooke and I. We might have to look into that when the drinkie idea is sorted.

Only as a suggestion, keeping off more of the beaten tracks but still keeping it all sealed and keeping the general shape of slowfox's original idea.
The only problem is it is quite a few different roads so there would need to be a few choke points to discourage little black ninjas from venturing off

I agree with your thought mentioned above, any thoughts on avoiding parts of SH39 also? VERY populated in the weekends by mad mother F*&kers in these crazy caged things.
Well on weekdays it is populated by huge great juggernauts with trailers on the back.....to be honest I have not found it too bad on Sundays......

Te Pahu Rd cuts out a chunk of SH39 at the northern end as does Turitea Rd/Honikiwi Rd at the southern end all of which are sealed and in an ok condition & nice riding

The Otewa Road option does make the ride quite a lot longer but is a goodie I have been told although I haven't done it myself...yet. It is next on my agenda when I get a chance.
Following the west bank of the Waipa from Whatawhata is a good option too and does cut out some of 39. The best bit of 39 is from Pirongia south anyway....BTW SH39 has its fair share of LEO's as well.......
Haven't done the Turitea/Honikiwi bit either - will chuck it in next time......

How about
A few "Road marker" riders at intersections. where as one of the first to the intersections waits at it showing the direction till the tail gets there then proceeds at thier own pace to the front again and so on (similar to road blockers for larger rides (50+ riders) where they want the group to stay as one), still keeping a general flow and allowing people to ride comfortably at their own pace. + a handful of "choke points" to bring the group together every now and then

I reckon paddy had it bang on, he rode at his pace (fairly swift for me :eek5:) and stopped at intersections that we turned off the current road till the endcap got there.
That way we knew that if we couldn't see anyone we could just follow the road we are on till we saw someone, got rid of the "shit maybe they went this way"
With teams of more than 10 i think half-way stops would work for example a team of 14: The lead stops till they count 8 and then the front 7 head on and the 8th waits for the endcap.
Dunno, it makes it simple and it takes allot of thinking out of it.

That route is pretty similar to what i was planning.
Those that followed me on the way back from Kawhia have already riden a big chunk of it so the will know where they are going, maybe.
The Turitea, Honikiwi Rd is a good section, (used for Targa Rally) and keeps us off 39 until just out of Oto.
Was going to suggest going out Waitomo Valley rd, and back into Oto via old Tekuiti rd, only have to cross SH3 once.
If thats not long enough can go out east of Oto, Mongaronga rd and come back onto SH3 at Tekawa head south to Puketerata road, and end up back onto same route as planned.
If some one could add this onto a map that would be appreciated, dont have time at the moment to sort out how to do it.

Its an easy way to waste a whole packet of time tracking out routes :) its probably then best and consequently the hardest to use site of its kind.
anyways, i should really go home and go to bed... to late to be at work.

If I remember rightly Waitomo Valley Rd is pretty cool. And the targa rd is cool as well. I can see some people with the front wheel up over a lifted section in the road.
Good ideas about the corners. As long as someone stops before it it's all good. We stopped around one of them on Sunday and then saw 2 bikes fly past! They worked it out though.
Would it work having the drink/dinner/drinks :apint: on the Saturday before a ride like Murray suggested? Would be really convenient for us who would stay at the kingsgate that night.
Kyrssie Kyrssie kryssie kryssie kryssie (sorry just doing my lines to remember the crazy way you spell your name. If it's wrong...bite me!) haha
And for those that are saying they're terrible with names. Here something geeky I learnt at a conference once. Your crap because you say your crap. Just like saying you can never go to sleep before 11pm. You tell yourself that so many times your sub-conscisious things it's true.
I used to be bad with names now I'm getting better (see? :) ) I just don't like saying them in case I get them wrong and call someone Snot when clearly there name is Goat ;) I'm still working on this part though. It's kinda scary how it works.
I'm also currently working on "I am a confident and god-like rider" and also "snot green is no match for blood red". Apparently, I keep hearing a laughing sound in my head everytime I mention them :(

You talking about Rutherford Road turn off. Yep me and brooke missed it!!! But only just!!
I agree Saturday night would be better especially for those coming from further away and planning to stay the night. Then maybe we make a big day of it and do the mini coro run Mister Koz is looking at or the kauiua (or whatever) run JMK (I think) posted a while back. C&B sounds good even though I can get a jug at the Rapa for the same price as a pint there. (bikers must be rich???). Rule out Dec 13 as Hotel is full and cannot do accom/bfst special rate
cheers and beers to all

Totally agree with you on this one Snot, oops sorry, Mr Koz. Dave rocks, at least you know there is never a quiet moment and he keeps us all on a high:Punk: had a good blat up the motorway with him yesterday, :scooter: and probably saved his bacon from a ticket :Police:
Thanks Guys. I always try to behave. :Pokey: Thanks Brooke for the ride up the motorway. I wan't looking at your bum the whole time, Seeing how that Ninja sat on the road.
I had a look at a road map yesterday and planned out 3 new possible trips that can be arranged. I kepted them all to under 350-400km. Will bring them along this week. Sunday looking ok weather wise, just cloudy. :Playnice:

Well bugger you then, I won't try and remember your name. You shall be know from now on as The What, you there, hey, k, or just a general oi.
Anyway, just to summarise. This weekend we have the "oto" loop and next weekend (29th-30th) there is a preference for the out of towners to do the drinks thing on the Saturday so we can stay before a ride. And the ride on the 30th looking like it could be a long one (which I think is a good idea).

Its true what you say, its like in The Secret - the laws of attraction. If you think it, it will happen. Im thinking of bacon and eggs for breakfast but i dont see the maid in the kitchen yet.
Got to do some work today and see about buying some gear today and going to Speed Tect to get a few adjustments.
Most likely see you all on Friday or Saturday night. Krystin will keep me updated.

A summary would be good. I have been reading through trying to figure out what the hell is going on. I might have to talk to Koz to figure it out.
Drinks some night at the cock and bull is it? Is it dinner too? Maybe if we have enough we can get some kind of fixed price menu or sommat like that?
For those of us with kids we may need as much warning as possible to arrange babysitters etc.
Might be easier if I actually turn up to one of the rides LOL

Sad to say I will not be along for this coming weekend's ride....have a training session in the middle of the day.....(biggritbuggritbuggrit).
That said, I checked out the deviation from 31 through Turitea Road and Honikiwi Road this morning - earlyish....nice road, windy, tight, a little uneven and quite narrow in parts - also wet as and bloody freezing this morning....great view from on high in Honikiwi Road just before you descend into Otorohanga......
There is also a mob of young and stupid cattle grazing the long acre behind a single strand electric fence not far into this loop - chances are they will have been moved by Sunday but you never know, so heads up on that one...even my solitary bike merely pootling along scared shit out of them this morning.......wouldn't do to stampede them into following riders....and the cocky prolly wouldn't be nice about it either...
Have fun.

Aw man, you will be missed.
SO after all that i am lost and i am not sure who's doing what and where we are going and who decided or committed to continuing that decision and what that decision means let alone where the decision came from.
In my head (which is a very busy place) we are sticking to the initial plan with the exception of going through flagstaff and horsham downs road to river road to ngaruawahia so we can avoid sh1 & roadworks, paddy also mentioned changes at the other end can we have a volunteer to map or write out the new path?

I have been talkin to the sportsbike.co.nz guy (quasi) and he says we can have our own forum if we like.
Bonuses are:
we can have lots of threads to seperate yarning from course plotting and maps etc, just basically more room and less people, we can also moderate it ourself, i.e. one or more of the team would be able to kick people out if they are being pains in the arse.
I think its a good idea, someone (probably me) will still keep this thread open tho.
Downside is everyone will have to sign up there.
Who thinks this is a good idea?

Don't know??? Seems like we have picked up most riders through the KB site and this is obviously due to this thread appearing in "new posts" etc and through searches. My only concern would be that we would not grow or encourage newer riders to join us if we were only on the sportsbike site?? lets talk about it over some beer and food and more beer on the 6th!!

Good plan murray, a verbal yarn would be a good idea.
Of course we could just set up threads in the rant and rave section titled "laxed out rides - off topic"
"laxed out rides - giving dave crap"
"laxed out rides - green vs every other colour"

Right, my view...
Agree we have gotten all our riders from this site which is where i would say new riders would come first and not the other sites (in saying that I don't know what they're like)
Kinda agree that it would be good to have our own forum with posts as above (laxed out of gas ). In saying that I was looking at some of the other meetings on here and they wipe our asses with post counts. One has well over 100 pages now. I see the point in it though.
Agree beer, food, beer, beer, shots, hassling Dave, JB's and little talking about it would be good.
I think if we have our own forum then a post would still need to be placed on here. In saying that, it'll cut out all the banter and friendly ribbing which may make us appear boring  god knows that ain't true.
The 6th we should be good too. Did I miss anything?

The dinner is for the 6th. So someone (I'm higher management I don't do it) can do a calendar thing for it if they won't.
This Sunday is ride and brekky is Murray gives the all clear.
The route needs to be finalised with Koz, Slofox, Paddy and Spazm since you lot all had input (although I think Koz just put it in the calendar). Way you go, talk amongst yourselves :grouphug:

Heres a cunning plan!!! if we do the 6th for dinner/drinks we do a big ride the 7th (Coro way). The weekend of the 30th join one of the 2 rides going (or we all join the same one??). Personally I like the idea of the charity ride as it has BBQ options etc and it could do with the numbers. Its approx 3 hours around waikato roads but i don't know whose organising it??? But you can register!!
Your thoughts anyone (I know its a week away)

We did the charity ride last year, is for Hamilton North Special School. The route last year was up to Ngaruawahia turn left at BP out past Waingaro, Glen Massey Naike?, and followed that road out to Rangiriri, up no 1 to Te Kauwhata for a rest then reverse of what we done last Sunday, except at end of Orini Road we turned right at Taupiri back on to No 1 through to Te Rapa Road and to the school for a yummy BBQ. Is $5 per person whether you rider or passenger, and they had some great raffles and spot prizes.

i agree the personality of this thread is grownig especially as we are all getting to know each other better (i dont know if that is a good or bad thing though too many skeletons in the closet) but everyone seems to have a good banter on this thread. in saying that the group thread is a good idea:rockon:

This could possibly be an idea. So any discussion on route can go on here and domestics on the other site. Or to make this easier for others, someone suggested a while back to just edit the very first post on the first page.
That way if people wanna know what's going on they can go to that first page post. If nothings been decided could just put "still discussing. see last page for input".
I could see how people could get dizzy reading all our crap if they don't keep up.
I still think changing the first post is kinda a good way to do it no matter what. Unfortunately, that means that only Koz can do it.

Yeah man, thats where the route on the calendar thing is.
With the sportsbike and the groups thing i reckon we just keep it as it is until we meet up for beers and can have a yarn about it.
So this is what we have:
Calendar appt - holds the date, route and general details
this thread - holds the intial discussion about the founding of the route and lots of banter and shit slinging :Punk:
all good?

Just thinking (yes it hurt), if you had previously read up to page 20 and still didn't know what the details of the rides were, would you go back and read the first post or would you carry on reading from page 20 until you get to the end?
Me, I would probably carry on reading and would never think of going back to the first post. And if you got to the end and it said "check the first post for updated details" would that piss you off since you read all the shit and you didn't have to?

"bumping" it means posting a new post which in turn brings it back to the top of the main forums page so its more likely to be seen...get it ??

By "bumping" a thread sends it to the top of the list so it gets noticed

ok, when someone posts in a thread, it's "last active" time is newer which puts it up to the top of the "new posts" lists, so if someone wants a thread to be in the top of the "new posts" list and therefore more visible they do the bump thing.
