Wicked! Did they end up setting yer bike up for you?

I just put new lights on my bike, looks pretty swish now :D photo's soon.

Just a basic setup, set the static sag, and then if you wanted to play with it some more you just had to ask.
I only had to adjust the front preload, rear was ok, that made a big difference. Did find out i should respring the front end for my weight

Squid. it was me who waved and tooted in the big black van tonite.... you looked confused:whistle:

Springs are pretty cheap, bout 3-400. Its when you start playing with the valveing that it starts to get a lot more expensive.

i would like to get my front end resprung as it feels a bit soft when i push it a little just need more feed back from the forks so may have to save for some ohlins springs. Any way sounds like you all had a good ride on sunday i was nursing a serious hangover (it must have been the last one that did it). I am a little jealous of you guys this weekend what with the drinks on saturday and a good ride on sunday but im just looking forward to my trip up north for 3 days, mmmmmmmmm 3 days on my bike sounds too good, no work no kids heaven will try and write a reasonable report on the trip when i get back. so you lot ride safe and have a beer for me on saturday.

Sweet, 3-400 sounds cheap, is that you putting them in yourself? If you have a doubt give the guys at speed-tech a call, they are good guys and they know their stuff.

Sweet, maybe thursday or one night next week, i am an extremely busy nerd at the moment  between making sites, working, defensive driving, seeing specialists and MRI scans SIGH!

Bryce told me to change down when i go past, managed to squeeze out a couple of yellow flames past your place  purely accidental of course.

RT at crown quoted me @ 3 - 400 also for the stage 1 Ohlins fr end kit which consists of springs & oils only Boyds cost to install @ $200, stage 2 is when you start playing with the valves.

The difference the Ohlins has made to the rear of my BB is amazing to say the least, still tinkering with it at the moment but slowly making headway...

Ohlins is oneway of going $$$$$$ my rr shock for the BB cost $2k custom setup for my weight/height & NZ road conditions @ $200 to install, but worth it the amount of adjustment you can make is truely amazing very simple to do just takes time & kms. I know of a group of BB owners that have gone for a Penske rr shock , alot less cost than a Ohlins @ a 3rd but a little unsure about after sale service ie: parts backup, rebuilds etc.... still waiting on feedback from these guys & the feedback should be interesting as the BB group is worldwide so no doubt feedback will vary.

you really dont have too... hopefully she will make saturday.. (for those who dont know she got diagnosed with viral meningitis) she is doing sweet just has PLPH at the mo which is post lumber puncture headaches, so she cant stand up but is getting something done today.. which in theory should fix her.

for those of you with atc2k's have you found that if your recording and run out of batterys that you loose the vid you were recording, or is that crap SD card??

For those wondering about this Sunday, by popular agreement Kawhia is being given a miss with some riders having done it over the last 2 weekends. Mister Koz and I will be doing a route up to night and hopefully will be on calendar tomorrow sometime. Involves stopping at a lake about 1/2 way and maybe a swim for those inclined. Probably 320km+ ride with some back road, some highway.

Hey everyone please excuse bad english as murray and i have had a management meeting which largely consisted as drinking beer and talking shit - hat a great time!! anyone welcome in future!

Anyways as previously discussed doing kawhia this weekend seems like a slightly silly idea as we did it last weekend and we did the kawhia/otorohanga - waitomo route the weekend before so we have elected to change the route to something completely different.

Murray and i got together and had beers, talked shit and figured out a route :D

The plan consists of heading out melville via mstery creek to cambridge then passing through karapiro (via the dam - love it) to toatoaroa through hobbiton (lord of the rings) then back to 29 an down to matamata for gas/ refreshments then heading onto SH21 to SH29 over the kaimai's to tauranga where we will find a petrol station that has a toilet, after the re-fuel and de-fuel we head to rotorua via SH39 (one of my favourite roads) then onto hamurana road to SH33 to SH30 then turning left at Tarawera road to the blue lake where we can swim and chill out for a bit. Then we head through rotovegas to SH5 to SH36 and left onto oturoa road and basically a b-line to cambridge from off-trunk roads then to SH1B out of cambridge to the backroads (including telephone rd, puketaha rd and gordington rd) to hamilton its about 340km in total.

As always suggestion is sweet, but this looks like a good plan. have adjusted the calendar appt.

Also on the agenda:
14th of december - Annual Starship Hospital Teddy Bear Run:
http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/calendar.php?do=getinfo&e=1777&day=2008-12-14& - i am on this and i think its a cool idea.

21st of December - silentninja's coro loop - pack some water and a sense of humour.

27th-29th racing meets and stuff - i wont be there but a few will, good opportunity to support some of our local talent and have a good day out.

As for an xmas function for us (are we that serious???) who's coming to drinks this saturday night? show of hands please!!!

Was just talking to Honda Riders Club because im going to join them to do some rider development days. (6th jan)

they said that they do insurance, so i asked for my bike (i have my learners) what they wood insure me for. they said with my GTR insured for 6000 that my premium would be $327 with a excess of $500.

obviously this would pay 6000 if i crashed. 5000 worth of riding gear. 1000 worth of keys and locks (incase you have chiped keys etc). and theft cover too.

also if you do there rider training days they take the course cost off your next years premium.

i thought it was a pretty good deal. http://www.hondaridersclub.co.nz/ if you want more info that is there wedsite :)

Just been up to see Dave and Krissie at hospital. She was on KB when she got the phone call. He's all good, just going into Xrays as I arrived. Krissie just txt me and hes going to have a plate put in his LEFT wrist sometime soon, bit of bruising on the knee other than that pretty good considering. He went to pass a car that had pulled to the left and it them did a sharp right and dave went into the back door of the car at about 90 kph. He should be home later today!!

hey all, yea hes going to be ok but it will be at least 6 weeks till hes on a bike again. We have no idea when he will get his plate put in, fingers crossed for tomorrow. He had just picked up the bike from speedtech and was really happy with how it was running....damn cars....if I find that guy hes in for an ear full. On the up side the cops didnt turn up to talk to Dave. He had his camera running so hopefully that is still on the bike, find out tomorrow when I go to get it. Il have another look on the road side too, I found one of his pegs earlier and theres fairings all over the road so hes very lucky to get away with his wrist broken and a few grazes.

Ah well, back to the hospital tomorrow.

Thanks to Murray and Koz

Also, what really really pissed me off today was how almost everyone that saw David seemed like they were making out that he was speeding or it was his fault somehow. FFS!! ok maybe he didnt see the indicator but cars have mirrors for a reason and its called a blindspot for a reason. Just because your on a bike doesnt mean your some nutter thats just going to hoon up behind someone or around them. And then they go on bout how bikers have the most accidents!?!? omg people there would be less if there were more bikers and less cars. argh. ok now im just ranting....my bad...

Wicked :) more ladies the better!

And then they go on bout how bikers have the most accidents!?!? omg people there would be less if there were more bikers and less cars. argh. ok now im just ranting....my bad...

its a fair rant, don't feel bad!

photos of the bike are in my album if you feel the need to look

Just about cried.. y'know they may want to repair it after all. Remember you need to start the claim as quickly as possible, state are annoying buggers at times.

Do you know that the car was indicating? Cause it is not unusual for a car to turn without indicating, completely oblivious to the idea that other people might be using the same road as them.

Possibly doesn't matter, i mean indicating or not you have to wait till the coast is clear before performing a u-turn which involves using your eyes, possibly a bit tricky for the average 4wd driver??

Well, Brooke and I went to see Dave tonight. Didn't have enough corn chips for tea so thought we'd do Burger Fuel. Perfect opportunity to see the crash victim as well. I must say that he doesn't look too bad and if he didn't need a plate he would have left the hospital.

So now he'll be pillion to Kyssie :D

Yeah after seeing the bike and then Dave's gear, I would say very lucky (or skilled :)). I have to say, seeing his left glove especially shows that you need some really good ones (worn and torn right through on 3 of the fingers).

LOL...so who's partners are left to get bikes? There must be only a few.

Un bloody believable!!!!!!!!!!

Been up to see Dave about an hour ago and he's all good except the "fatboy" is starving!!

Krissie's now txt me "No sugery tonight, maybe tomorrow"

2 nights in hospital for a 1/2 hour operation on a broken arm. No wonder waiting lists are so long.

They are even thinking about putting in apologies for C&B as he may not be out!!!

On the good news Trina gets her bike Monday!!!!

thats alot better than what I said lol, and Dave coz we were meant to be going to visit his mum on sunday in Rotorua coz shes just had a hip replacement.

But I noticed a lady had her leg amputated recently, possibly this morning so they do have other ops, but his will only take 30mins. FFS!!!

I may take my broke-ass down to the C&B for a couple of drinks, its better then drinking alone as I have been doing the last couple nights. God Damn parking fees omg $4.50 for 2hours then $7.50 for 5 hours not to mention the $6.50 for town this morning. But I can still come out yay! Will see what happens :)

Hope they gave him a descent feed (well as descent as hospital food goes lol)

Today was a great ride although i was pretty buggered after swimming, by the end of the ride I was pretty much ready to faint, cleaned the bike and i will be doing absolutely nothing for the rest of the night :)

Anyways, thank you all for a great ride with brilliant company.

Come on FESS UP who put it there????????

Hope you get the op today Dave - we all missed you and Krissie out on the run yesterday (for some reason seemed like a real long one but Paddy had us at 280km at TeRau????). Great to see you at breakfast time Krissie, keep smiling it must get better!!!

So how many ended up doing the ride on Sunnyday?

We'll be missing the ride yet again this Sunday due to a "wedding". Not happy! The ride to Pukky was average and some people are friggin meat heads!!

So when will be the last ride before christmas? Are we "going on holiday" and starting up again after new years? Or are we going to fit a ride in between Christmas and New Years? Why is the earth an egg shape and not round? Why isn't the sky green? And why, when you tilt your head to the left and close your right eye, does Munta look like Wembly off Fraggle Rock?

Twas a good ride on Sunday.. I really enjoyed it ..

Just like the other rides i got some odd pictures..

Or the ride we did to Otorohanga where Koz is honing in his jedi powers and willing the bottle of water into his hand.

And on another note.

Is there any interest for shorter rides? I only ask cos on a ride like Sundays, I was away for most of the day, which means my better half has a long day with the kiddies.

So if there were a few of you interested in maybe doing a shorter ride time wise with maybe less stops along the way I would be keen to look at that.

Even the charity run this week would mean that I left home at ten and probably wouldn't be back till after 4.

So if there is anyone keen can you pm me or put a message in the social club.

Maybe even if the powers that be - Murray and Koz could maybe consider a shorter ride sometime that would be cool. Otherwise I think I will have to drop my attendance down to much fewer rides. I know I have missed several already LOL

Wow things have changed since I've last been in hospital for anything. The only thing that delayed my op was me having a glass of lemonade straight after my fall. Delayed me for 6 hours while it settled then I was straight out the next day.

I don't even think Brooke waited that long for her ankle (6 pins, 2 plates). She only got bumped because an inconsiderate pregnant women needed a c-sec. That was in Rotovegas though.

This may sound a bit drastic, but I would recommend contacting the Waikato Times and telling them. Give them this angle, are the doctors punishing him for being a biker, is there that much of a serious money shortage and how much money is this costing tax payers by not getting him in and out sooner. Yes, it's a little bit more complicated then an in and out but not that much more and it'll be costing about $400/day to keep him in, not too mention ACC wage loss compensation.

The only reason I suggest this, is more people should know what's happening and if no one says anything, nothing gets done (new government you know :)). Just my view. You're not bitching, you just want answers that reporters have a knack of uncovering :) They may not even care though. Worth a try. Most probably won't get the op done quicker but he'll be set for next time ;)

BTW Once he's out, he'll most probably be dropped to the bottom of the list. You need to cause ruckess every day and really start getting on their case.

I thought I'd share this with all the other noobs amoung us. It's about countersteering and I saw it from a recent thread on here. A little technical at the start but the demo explains it all.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C848R9xWrjc

I found from racing pedal bikes for years I did it naturally without knowing. I was also taught/explained a brilliant way of countersteering at the recent trackday. They didn't tell us to push with our inside hand or anything. They just told us to do two things and it automatically made you countersteer without even thinking (which is perfect for me).

If the reason why you countersteer in the vid still doesn't gel with ya (technical) it just makes riding corners a lot smoother, easier and safer (oh and faster :))

Thanks dude, thats a really cool video, its amasing how you can learn the same thing over and over and get something out of it every time...

And the two things were ????????????

The master of suspense and bed time stories!!!!!

two things...

To be honest I couldn't be assed typing it out and it's easier to show but since you asked so nicely...

We were told....

You see what I'm doing?...

:) Pretty much to drop your inside shoulder into the corner and get the inside elbow out. The shoulder thing is like shoulder barging someone. The way I thought about it, the elbow thing helps bring the body forward into the turn and puts pressure on the inside bar i.e. countersteering without knowing. I thought doing these two things was the easiest way to get someone to countersteer without going into the details.

It also gets you to lean into the turns and flowing around the corner. Add a bit of knee action and you're sliding your knee around corners. Easy :)

haha the standard tyres are fine! There's nothing wrong with backing it into corners ;)

I thought we'd better start getting used to doing things "their way" since we're aiming for a January sit.

Unless you've already booked, you better change your schedule for feb. They go on holiday for a long time. That's how it was for me earlier this year.

haha, I haven't had quite the pleasure yet. Got a little sliddy on the track (scared the shit out of me) and only mildly on the road (it happened so slowly I was prepared for it).

That's what I was thinking. Hence why I thought I should do something about it.

Cool. What time is everyone gonna be there/until tonight? I'm trying to get Brooke to go for a little ride around some twisties after. I would say we would make it a reasonably early night since we have to get to the airport at 6am tomorrow to drop off the last puppy (flying to sunny Nelson).
