Ok. I was going to organise a dinner thing.. but I am getting the vibe that just a date that we all rock up to the same place at roughly the same time is ok?

Does that sound right?

Rather than organise dinner or anything we will invade cock and bull on the 6th of Dec.
God that sounds dodgy!!

You think too much :) 99% of the time there's an easier way of doing something!

just take heed that the person (me this week) charged with getting the route down right has done it and put it on the calendar thingy :D and besides ITS ONLY TUESDAY we should only be gettin worried by thursday if we don't know :)

From the track record I don't think it will ever get to Thursday without a post. Sunday, everyone gets back home and starts making suggestions!

Now Koz, I think you may have something to do with this. Can you explain why Brooke grabbed my ass last night and said "who's ya goat" then bleeted??:gob:

haha

Apprantly Mr Bean aka Dave was keen for a swim last week since he had his togs under his leathers pulled up to his nipples. Actually, I don't think I would want to see him swimming if he has them that high :crybaby:

Depends, if im having alcohol handed to me perhaps the car would be best. Of if there's someones house nearby where I could leave my bike then that would be an option :)

I'm with koz and wysper, I think we really need to get an idea on numbers coz the last thing we want to do it rock on up to the c & b and they can't fit us in coz they are booked out with christmas and then we have to find somewhere else to go.

I'd say Ckai and I will take up Murray's option if it is OK on the weekend still to stay at the Kingsgate and we can always get a taxi.

Either that or if the c & b is chocker we could always look at Murray's idea at the room at the tavern......

True, that would be the better idea. Id say we would take Murray's option too and taxi it most likely. Will wait till Dave knows whats going on.

I think at this stage Dave&Krysten and Broooke&Cameron are taking up the stay the night option, so we could all squeeze into my car (Dave can lie along the back window) and my lovely non drinking wife could drive us there and back (haven't told her yet tho!!!)

A fine idea.

And cheaper drinkies at the tavern is always good for a backup if things turn pear-shaped

Should really get my station wagon fixed so more ppls can all jam into the back... Heaps of room for dave and maybe even a friend too. Sounds good, I'll just have one and ride home. Seems to be the easiest option at the moment.

Sweet.

We will get an indication of numbers on Sunday

Opt 1. Cock n Bull
Opt 2. Tavern

Date 6th Dec

At this stage mainly drinkies
Time and if we are looking for a meal to be discussed on Sunday too.

All accommodation can be sorted out amongst ourselves. I suspect this will be a pretty fluid arrangement. Or arranged by the amount of fluid consumed.

Brooke
19th November 2008, 11:46
Good idea drinks and meal. I could suggest the Te Rapa Tavern as they do pretty good pub grub, 30+TV's with all the sports channels, TAB and Pokie machines!!!

For those out of town or interested I could to a Room and Breakfast for 2 at the Hotel for $69 or $55 for single person. Saves drinking and driving and if we did it on a Saturday night we could leave in the morning for a good run.

Here is what Murray said about the tavern. I have been there once for a doo and the food wasn't mad (we just had nibbles so don't know what else they do...)

I am from the Waikato living in Auckland - not from Auckland, there is a difference! I did cruise down to Hamilton last Sunday, but I didn't have enough time to join in on the ride. I did visit Quasi and get rid of some money though.

haha - I have this thread subscribed and every time I refresh the list of subscribed threads to see if there are any new posts - there are, sometimes several pages in a couple of hours. I don't know if there is any other thread with as many posts in as short a time as this one.

I don't think I can make next Sunday, but I will make an effort to head down and join you guys on one of your rides - a laxed out ride sounds just my speed and I really like the Waikato roads.

Have already been out a few times enough today else I would come and join you Murray.
The healing has taken a turn for 'more patience required'. Yesterday I found out on my own steam that me collar bone is still just as broke as it was 7+1/2 weeks ago :( This being dispite an appointment with the hospital orthopedic specialist a week ago who assured me all was ok.

I was a little puzzled as to the shape of my collar bone area when I brought my shoulders forward so went and paid for my own xrays and turned up at my doctor asking for an explanation. Tho to my 'trained' eye it was already pretty obvious.

So doctor has got me another appointment with orthopedic people next week... The 2 broken bone ends are no-where near each other so I think they will have to get the knife out. Which I am inclined to think would be a darn good idea!!
Sleeping through the night is something I used to enjoy prior to the accident but now the only way I can 'maintain' a semi conscious sleep state is to take pain meds every 2 hours!! (er with food or else u throw up!!)

I'm good tho.. have a list of about 20 physio exercises to do as often as I can throughout-out the day. This to try and restore the mobility back into my left hand, both wrists and shoulder. At present my right wrist couldnt rev any bike off idle due to its frozen state and my clutch hand would suit a bike without a clutch :( !!

I look forward to lots of things.. and the outing/dinner on the 6th at the Cock & Bull is one of them. So count me in :)

Yeah I spend half my night trying to figure out what has one on during the day. I don't get access to the net at work (that's probably a good thing) so when I get home I have to remember what page I last read and go from there. Then spend half the night posting!

Tell you guys (and girls) what, Spazmania and I did some pretty good roads tonight a few of you would dig. Banking turns, loopey's, sweeps, good stuff. Doing a bit of recon for future rides we were. Just have to figure out how we can link them in.

The cat decided it'll bring a headless one into the lounge under my desk yesterday (didn't feel that good putting my foot into it). The dogs had one yesterday and for the past 4 days have had at least one pukeko with the puppies fighting over it. At least they're not bringing them inside...yet.

Yep, its on the 30th Nov under $5 Charity ride. Back a few pages JMK said they went on it last year and it was great. MR Koz, myself, Squid and someone called Saffa and prettybillie are coming down from Auck and are the only one's registered so far.

That site is easily the most frustrating one but it follows the roads (with a little encouragement) and for that reason alone i reckon its the best one. There's allot of improvements that need doing to make it better tho.

Its a charity ride ending at BBQ etc. If we get most of the laxed out crew on it its going to be friendly for everyone. Can't imagine a charity ride being a race. Gives us a week off planning a route so we can concentrate on the big night out (6th) followed by the big ride out (7th)

About that site (route thing), I put in all the points at turn offs and have the "auto-follow road" things selected and it doesn't follow the road. I get a bunch of straight lines. Am I missing something?

Tell you guys (and girls) what, Spazmania and I did some pretty good roads tonight a few of you would dig. Banking turns, loopey's, sweeps, good stuff. Doing a bit of recon for future rides we were. Just have to figure out how we can link them in.

Did you try Google Maps ? I also put up a link earlier for a proposed route that includes the roads we did last night

Had a look at it. It seems easier to drag the route around and it will stick to the road better. A little annoying entering in certain points but it's not that bad. To me, the best route planner would be one that you just click certain points, it joins them up following the road, and to change something you just drag the line.

Edit: Mean, that's what google maps does! Once you put two points anywhere, you can change them or drag them anywhere and the line follows :Punk:

Choice

Edit again: I see the problem though, you can't save it.

i will not be able to do the charity ride this year as i will be nursing a bad hang over after drinking copious amounts of beer at my work do. i did the ride last year and it was ok a huge mix of bikes, riders and abilities so if you are going be carefull and watch your mirrors.
i will be at the ride this sunday probably not at the brekkie though what with ankle bitters to sort out. All in favour of the green team say AYE

Te Rapa tavern of course, sometime later today and everyone buys there own. For everyones info I have one of there menu's and the lovely Kirsten said they would put some platters on for us and reserve some leaners/tables. So if someone can sus out the Cock & Bull and see if they OK that would be great and Te Rapa can always be used as 2nd option.

And wysper did you count each and everyones posts and if so where did you find the time to do that!!!!

My 2 cents, same as what Koz said :) For me, I had riden bikes before so I got my licence and brought a bike. A mate is really keen on getting one. She can handle a mountain bike which helps a bit but has never riden a motobycycle. I suggested she at least do a training session then look at buying a bike.

Like someone mentioned on the other thread, you could buy a bike that you're not suited too.

As for MS access - are you all computer geeks on here during the day!?!?!

In saying that, I taught myself access and then build a complete system for our previous business. But it is bollucks. But I'm one of those people that say all MS is crap (we are an apple household and an apple business :dodge:)

Java is getting interesting.

As for the bike stuffing up... bugger man. Maybe you should just stop using your clutch :)

I'm keeping a close eye on the weather and it looks like we would be very lucky if it didn't rain. I'm all for optimism but I'm also a realist. It looks like the rain is moving but I'm not sure if it will be fast enough.

Yeah I had read other threads but wanted the locals word ;)

And why oh why do I now have some bikes on my Tm watchlist when I dont have the dollars in the bank lol

I gotta say both, i bought a gn250 that was mostly beaten but a good one to learn on, i rode up and down the driveway and the road at work getting to grips with speed, then laid out cones and obsticals to go around, then i went and did a riding course with ward fischer and my practical in one go.

Wow your organised! I just rocked up rode around for a few hours and get the BHST peice of paper that says "yup he can use 1st and 2ed gear" :Punk:

Soooo learning to ride, is it better to go through motorbike school or just buy a cheapie and learn to ride it

Like everone else is saying do both, Ward Fisher on Avalon dve. is very good (ex cop) but more expensive I than pass-right I think. I woud'nt recomend getting a 2 stroke 250cc for a first bike, GN's are slow and dont like going round corners all that much but very stable and good to get the hang of riding on. :scooter:

Join in with the schnanagins (sp?). That has got to be one of the best words in the engwish lango.

It's official...we have higher powers in cahoots with us. Seen the weather for tomorrow (http://www.metvuw.co.nz/forecast/forecast.php?type=rain&region=nzni&noofdays=7)? So all we need now are bike sponsors, and fuel sponsors and we're right

So Ive just cancelled out of tomorrow but looking at the list of those registered and showing interest there looks like a distinct lack of laxed out riders anyway and the pace could be on. No Brooke, Cameron, Davee, Erik, Tracey, Kirsten, jmk, me now!! you will need to select a new TEC

Hopefully see some of you at 9.30 and keen to see some of the new bikes and riders to the group tomorrow!!

We do have shit to do on the house (read: alot!!) so if the weather looks like it'll pack in we might join you guys until TA then paint some ceilings. Yay for us :( ahah

I was hoping you were gonna post Dave. Good riding mate. I was impressed with you throwing that big cruiser around. I could only imagine what you could do on a light bike.

Paddy, I think with us doing those roads, I've finally worked out my local "after-work" blat. Love that road off Arapuni Rd :niceone:

Also tops leading. Us guys at the back thought we may have missed a turn early on then thought you would have stopped everyone if it was. It's good to know that if no one is waiting, you charge on.

You know green is just mutated yellow?? :) The story goes that greens were once yellow but they were banished for there unruly behaviour and forced to wear the shame colour. Hence why the shenanigans and unsavoury ones are the green ones. Blue was added to the yellow to try and calm them, but it only made them more furious. Green has been trying to convert blues ever since. They gave up on yellows long ago and they didn't even think about red for red was the one colour that could never be turned. It was the one colour to rule them all (one day, someday, maybe, quite possibly not, but it was worth a try)

Yellow's shall once again rule supreme, you'll see.

Was a good ride :) had a great time. I have a few pics in my albums :)

http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/album.php?albumid=1136

When we got to otorohanga there was a fair going on, us and our 13 bikes roll up and occupy the whole bus stop in front of the fair, flowing in to park in a really rhythmical fashion was very cool! There was a guy on a microphone wandering over towards us and he said "who's the leader" with a grin on his face, of course everyone bailed and i was standing there like a stunned mullet going "um... one of them" but i was caught.

A few :sweatdrop words later the man wandered over and tried to get paddy to sing a song for us, that lasted about 1/5th of a second and everyone scattered.

We laxed out there and pretty much took the piss out of each other and everything and left.

This ride was a pretty quick ride, i think because everyone was trying to keep up rather than ride at their own speed, i know i was

That cop pretty much put his lights on, chucked it in gear, drove 1m forward, hung his head put it in neutral and turned the lights off. Who ever he was lookin at was at the front of 13 bikes and about 7 cars on that straight and we weren't slowing down to let him in so i am guessing he gave up.

21st is a month away, shall we lay off plans till closer :) hehe.

It just so happened to be sent to me as a "weekly special". So if any of you want to be like our president :) here you go (http://www.torpedo7.co.nz/products/OSCMHNN2K)

Wait a second.... its "mister koz" since when did i become "president koz" hrm?

I started the thread, everyone else took over this is more like a republic than a democracy, in which case i should be called "senate scape koz" :P

As it turned out I could have done the ride yesterday but didn't find out training was cancelled until too late....temperamental partners mmuttermutter....
It seems from the reviews that the title "laxed out rides" might need revisiting......?

Bugger, it was a good ride.

The pace was a bit faster this time but we are still laxed out :) just didn't have murray at the back reminding us its not about speed

I was pushing myself a bit hard probably will be backing off a bit in the next couple of rides to work on my entry speed into corners.

It's a title we give to the person who organises everything when we can't be assed (read: all the time)

Bugger. Not sure how much of the ride was along your original route but if it was, nice work. Some goodies there.

"Laxed out" shall return to us back markers when the others come back. It's good to blat around corners and just chill on straights.

I must admit though, at one section on Sunday there was a group of about 5 of us boogying along which was cool.

PS Did the double quote thing :Punk: simple minds ah haha

We could always go as 'the rides formerly known as laxeds out rides'

or maybe - 'the super laxed out rides' for those more laxed than it is now

Ok so the pace wasnt up to the usual laxed ride standard, my bad.
Its amazing how two weeks off the bike and all you want to do is go for a good ride.:scooter:

haha na it was all good mate. Like we've said before there'll always be those at the front going nuts.

For me personally, as long as I know someone will be waiting at all the turn offs and I have a small group to ride with I'm all good. I like being in amongst it and following some experience.

Nah man, you were going at your pace, its all good man. i was riding faster than normal because i wanted to, i wouldn't try and keep up... my bike is willing but my ability is lacking.

Knew you would be at the next intersection anyways :)

You may need more than new tyres to try and keep up. lol
Never used those tyres before but herd plenty of good things about the PP. When my Pilot Roads are gone (probably after training day at Taupo next sunday) i will probably get some Continental Road Attacks, had these on my last bike. Got good milage and were good in all conditions.

Have used the Diablo Strada's on my Bird great in the dry, Awesome in the wet with reasonable tyre life @ 12kRR 16K FR. I have tryed a few different brands over the last year or two & noticed the Pirelli's fronts lasted much much longer than any of the other brands FYI:2thumbsup
