Well, good old TA has pulled one out of the bag again. Managed to book my restricted 2 days after my 6 mths is up, right amoungst the busy season. Love it.

Went good :) i am still a little hung over.
There was some discussion about the coro-loop on the 21st and it was suggested that we have 2 groups that day, one group staying in hamilton for a low-speed and learning cruise day.
People also made mention that the starship ride this weekend might be a very long one, leaving hams about 10 and getting to starship around 2??? loooong day. Anyways, depends what people want to do really.
Nice, my racer 9 is good, love it :) we could start a quasimoto posse i got the new gloves the other night.

Don't you mean a Quasi Posse :D
Isn't wysper staying back for the LOL ride? Which means it's not going to be a full "learning" ride. I'm not sure what I'm doing yet. I can cruise around town with those that want then if we can head out of town to do some cornering I can do that.
Gene last week gave me an idea. I could even go ahead and get some pics of those on their flash new bikes scraping pegs :) Even if someone else wanted to join me for the lead group we can get a couple of angles of people. I thought it would be quite cool to start doing some photo sessions of people. Plan out some good corners for those that know the roads for shots. I wouldn't do it for the loop at this stage. Would make for a tiring day.

What about, you staying back or renaming it because you're staying back? Or you being totally confused because you're not staying back and you are in fact either:
a) doing the loop ride
b) not even riding because you can all get stuffed
c) the boss has told you you can't play with your friends that weekend
d) You thought you'd be a nice husband that weeked, put on your apron and dress, and do the hovering.
We'll be running a poll later to see what everyone else thinks you'll pick

Afternoon Team!!!
In regards to the proposed Coro loop on the 21st watch yourselves heading over there & whilst you are there cause there are cops everywhere & they ARE making a point of picking on bikes due to the amount of accidents around there lately involving bikes, roadworks are still a plenty on the Thames side but alot of the gravel has eased with the eastside showing lots of melting tar which as we all know is VERY SLIPPERY WHEN WET .
I was over there in the weekend & xmas traffic it seems is already escalating so bypass Kopu if you can, Waihi would be the best side to start with as the tar is still reasonable at @ 11am early arvo it's shit .

Yeah that was one of my worries, i can't afford to get a ticket 200km from home... Dunno guys what do you think about doing this one late february when the tar isn't so hot and the holiday goers and the plod aren't out in such force.
If we have to bypass kopu we will be fairly buggered!
Dunno, thoughts?

I've heard that the cops are out there in force on bikers aswell.. I'm not sure how long they be keeping the pressure on.

I am happy to tootle about here on that weekend. I am in tootle mode. I am trying a 'new' learning technique and am keen to see if it works.

Just a bit of a heads up - so far looks like 4 going to starship, Mr Kiz, Geeen, Silentninja and myself (I am sure some will come on the day) meeting at the new Honda shop 9.30 am. I actually want to go to see all the bikes, I bet theres heaps!!!!
Following week theres still discussion on coro loop and the LOL ride is going ahead. This will mostly be around town with some 80k areas a a bit of 100k stuff but on quiet roads and through some intersections (practise for new riders) but not to far away from Hamilton at any stage.
It was sort of arranged that afterwards we (me and Trina) would do a simple BBQ which anyone who has ridden with us this year is welcome to attend. (both LOL and the other group where-ever they may end up going to).We will provide food and soft drink and bring your own alcohol (that way you don't have to bring Waikato). This will be about 4.30ish-5.00ish and if you want to use the pool or spa's thats fine so bring your kids if you want. I will however need an idea of numbers by about Thursday next week at the latest.
I am sorry it conflicts with Geeens birthday party, but we can always leave the BBQ and go and raid his fridge afterwards.:beer::beer:

:gob: Are you the one trying to comlete the move in the front or are you the filmer (3rd bike)? If you're the first bike, you have most of the technique down, all I would suggest is the golden rule of motorcycling...drop your shoulder into it. That should get you around fast enough. Although you may get a little scuff on your lid (you didn't bounce enough on the wheels first - see below).
If you are the 3rd bike (filmer), what I do is the simple "bunny-hop". Don't let poeple tell you the extra weight of the motorbike means it can't be done. They're lying. Just push with your knees and up she pops, right over any obstacle in your way. It's really quite simple. I try to encourage more poeple to try it. Most of the time it's easier than the method the first rider is using, but it too has it's place i.e. for small sticks.
Hope this helps and remember to practice.

Trying to promote Darwin's theory of "survival of the fittest" or simply testing out the new theory by an un-named psychologist "demise of the stupidest" ??
In saying that, i just drove (yeah car) home to pick up my phone charger and on the way back i saw a VERY nice R1 the dude had a stylie hjc helmet with a tinted visor, shorts, t-shirt and jandols, other protective clothing included a metal watch and a chunky ring on one hand. Most impressed!
Considering the completely mad drivers lately (am i more aware since being on a bike or have people got worse on the road?) i would have thought the more gear the better but hey i know enough to know that i know very little at all :D

Wow so google maps actually does a good mapping service !!!
Dam wish i could have made it today, Laxed M & M's sound good as !!
Yeah we had the traffic light group today, was pretty cool :) would have been good with a bit of blue!
Have you tried out the street view yet ???
You can check out almost any part of the road at 2.5 metres above the road at roughly 5 mtre intervals
Thats kinda creepy... a mate of mine found himself on that checking his mail...

You shall notice that I have taken the liberty to assess the above route. There are some discrepancies as of which I think shall be noted:
Exhibit A: You will notice the rough road structure and the poor road maintenance along part of the said route. It would be advised that these imperfections and irregularities should be avoided.
Exhibit B: It would be advisable, to in fact not follow the "little blue line" "around" this particular "corner". As you will ascertain in your own minds that the said "Little blue line" in fact is only a route option for those that believe in ferries, pixies, and are fraggles themselves (they have little wings and can in fact fly). For general consumption humans, the advisable route shall be one which deviates from the "little blue line".
Thank you for your time. I also expect, once the proposed route is choosen, a full analysis of the road surface be undertaken and any imperfections, noted and reported.

haha that was awesome! i went for a blast on a CR250R cross a motocross track. was great fun! those bikes are pretty rapid and kinda scary.. gave it a fist full and almost met a bolder.. stacked it a couple of times getting over confident. nothing major tho. haha
the laxed traffic light ride sounded good. geeen said it was kinda cool when the 3 of you parked up. i could imagine cause those bikes are pretty bright.

I rode almost the same route last weekend and again this weekend. Coupla comments:
1. The trip over the hill from Kawhia to Waitomo is made interesting by vast volumes of little blue stones all over the road and signs that say "ICE - GRIT" which I presume is where the little blue stones come from.....didn't see any ice though.....watch the driveway into the long black cafe at Waitomo...(bastard!)
2. The section East of Te Kuiti/Otorohanga is pretty cool with not too many patchings-up although there are some.
3. Your turn off Tauraroa Valley Road into Maihiihi Road is essential. I strongly suggest NOT going any further down Tauraroa Valley Road cause as I found out yesterday, it aint sealed and neither is Hoddle Road. Hoddle is clay so OK in dry, with spectacular views from on high but Tauraroa Valley is totally the pits..........although very picture-skew.....if you can take your eyes off the flaming gravel and the ruts and corrugations and holes and etc......
Should be a good trip. Might look at coming along. IF I can make the bloody shop work this week. Christmas??? BAH!!! HUMBUG!!!!!

Thanks for the heads up on that route.. it's been a little while since i was down the east side there of TeKuiti..
I was thinking of doin that route clockwise which would make the Maihiihi road turn right onto Tauraroa valley road, as like you said if you miss that turnoff your in the gravel..
Did you take Barber/Rangitoto Rd ? If so what's its condition atm ? And how much traffic did you come across on those roads ??.. the few times i've been down there they have been really quiet, which is what we'd want.

1. Yep - turn right from Maihiihi onto Tauraroa Valley Rd. It is a T intersection in fact from Maihiihi Rd....Left leads to dreaded unsealed crap.....go right, young man....
2. Have not been as far south as Barber - Rangitoto so don't know.
The bits I have done out there were pretty quiet both weeks but every so often you hit something unexpected. e.g.1. Yesterday I met a camper van coming the other way on the unsealed section Of TV Rd.......e.g.2. I met a pedal biker coming round the corner on the wrong side of the road...guess she thought she had the road to herself.....(I heard the "twang" over the bike noise......) e.g.3. Farmers use the roads as ancilliary driveways....heads up for tractors emerging from gateways without even a look - two of 'em yesterday.....my turn to "twang"......

I thought I'd try you lot before telling the world my problems, since we probably have the highest number of geeks in our little group. And no one has talked for a while. Must be christmas rush.
Under "your notifications" for the past 2 weeks or so it says I have 1 unread profile message. I go to my profile page and I've seen everything but the bloody thing doesn't clear. ?????? And yet when I get another one it says I have 2, after I've read it, it goes back to 1 instead of 0.
Does anyone know what the problem could be or who I should fire a PM to? It's not a big deal but is just starting to annoy me.

Visitor. I've permanetly got a bold 1 showing, click on it and I've always got 1 unread visitor message.
Maybe it's a secret message and I'm just not cool enough to read it. Maybe it's from Yoda

I think only 3 posts were helpful. But apparently I'm stupid for not getting a simple rule (in which I did practice just wanted to make sure I was doing it right). I found it bloody amusing that must people just wanted to say "god another one doesn't know" and not actually do anything to help educate.
Ah, the complaining nation - better to complain about something endlessly then doing something to fix it.
I also find it amusing that such a "simple" rule could have so much debate over it :)
But anyway, I degress. If anyone on Sunday morning wants to go for a short squirt before the town ride, I may be keen. I'm thinking I may go for an hour ride or something.

I just worked it out in my head will most probably looking at 2hours? 9am brekky? 9:30am leave - 11:30 return? 1 hour on house, 2 mins for lunch catch up to town ride....me thinks I could be pushing the working on the house thing in between.

Yeah man fricken terrifying, had just been slightly drifting the real wheel powering through the corner - scary but cool - and hit the power on the out and the front wheel lifted up :shit: it would be a much cooler story if it wasn't scary and/or i had planned it but meh.
I like those times, hard to get outa bed that little bit earlier but i think i'll manage :D

Hey Murray what's the chances of borrowing the car park before the town ride on Sunday? I wouldn't mind doing some practice of a few things.
As above
Sorry didnt reply sooner but on hols and Trinas got me doing the housework etc and out riding, did 120kms with her yesterday Ham/Mystery creek/cambrige/morrinsville/Hams
sounds like a good plan for the faster/more experienced riders to go for a blat earlier and join up with the LOL group later. see you Sunday

I reckon brekky at 9 and try and head away about 9:30 (not gonna happen)-9:45. I'm thinking an earlier start than normal for those that want to do the town ride.
I thought having some car park time just ahead of the town ride with some pointers would be quite handy so if that ride sets off at 1pm I would think of being back at kingsgate at 12 (which makes me think about lunch plans).
That's my way of thinking.

Well, firstly smoking probably isn't the right word dude, i was tail end charlie for a bit and then i wasn't. Secondly that was my first open road ride of more than 15km and the first time i took the gargoyle out for more than cool revving sounds.
Seems like your trying to call me a newbie. i am not arguing i been riding for a year and i am doin alright.
Remember this is the "laxed out rides" and there's no prize for first, if thats not your cuppa tea then go find some people who actually care about road racing and see how you stack up.

I was thinking of 9am because someone said they wanted to make the afternoon ride.. I think (once again - busy couple of days) If people want to ride later thats all good!! more sleep.
How about we just do ham to rags on "slightly" out of the way roads, take a couple of hours including the coffee in the middle then head back and catch up with the town ride later on?
10am breakie, leave 10:30, 2 hours catch the town ride??
Any takers?

He's trying to wind up the mods or something...
We already have plenty of very experienced riders in our group, all willing to offer us piles of advice and support. I trust and respect those riders and their experience because of their humility and because I have watched them ride (for the short period I could keep up :D ).
No offence carver, I'm sure you know some things and that you would have something to add but I would sooner listen to them.

Well, you've confirmed everything I said :2thumbsup
Humility :
"that meta-attitude which constitutes the moral agent's proper perspective on himself as a dependent and corrupt but capable and dignified rational agent" - Kant
You haven't been around me long enough to make the assumption of being a looser so i am guessing you are associating "learner" and "looser" closely.
I am a learner and you are now calling me a looser, there's nothing you could teach me or a member of our group with that kind of ignorance.
I think you hang around the learners because it makes you feel like you have skill, as i said to sidewinder:
Remember this is the "laxed out rides" and there's no prize for first, if thats not your cuppa tea then go find some people who actually care about road racing and see how you stack up.

Hey, anyone on for a ride tomorrow (Sunday). I'm planning on taking the "learner" out the way Paddy took us through Karapiro left at the BP but straight through (not past Hobbiton), back up to Matamata (forecast is fine) then the backroads near Walton and through to morrinsville and back. Leaving Hotel 11.00 sharp. Trinas now done 578 kms and did Te Awamutu (sorry cameron you must have been out) over to pirongia up to the raglan road and back yesterday.
cheers all and I do feel sorry for Carver having only a couple of gay friends, it must be lonely in the biker community being like that.

Fair call TA. I'm a bit of a pansy when it comes to talking to others...unless someone talks to me first, I don't have the balls to do it. I get the wife to start instead (it was all the rejection I got when I was young...warped my fragile little mind).
Also agree that there are assumptions being made all round. But I think most people realise carve and sidewinder can ride. It'll be their attitude on here that pisses them off. I reckon in person they're just little pussy cats! Although I've never meet either.

Hi all,
I am new to KB and live in TA. I have followed your discussions for a while and you have hit the nail on the head Brooke. Nicely spoken.
I have recently moved up to a big bike, but am not interested in "who is the fastest or best looking" contests. I really like the sound of your laxed out rides and hope you guys wouldn't mind me tagging along.
Are there any laxed out rides planned for the next couple of weeks? I know popular places like coro and rags are getting pretty busy but there are plenty of good roads to explore. For example, I did the Waitomo - Kawhia loop the other day which is a nice 1/2 day ride.
Looking forward to rolling with you guys (and gals)!

Right, go away for a couple of days and things get weird... 1stly i made no threat, after reading my post i can see how "missing teeth" could have seemed like a threat but thats not how i operate, if i was threatening people it would be to their face and there would be no grey area. That post was themed from something a mate of mine said to me one night: "You have allot of teeth for a smart arse" i thought it was hilarious and fitting.
Never said the mormon few can't ride, i said with the attitude they have nothing to offer, c'mon start a conversation with name calling and what did you expect, when they get over the pissing contests and the try-hard attitude then i am sure we will all have something to learn from them.
Its all a bullshit wind up like several other threads hijacked, these guys turn up out of the blue and drop comments to piss people off or call everyone noobs or whatever looks like they are now banding together against atrocities of something or other or somesuch  guys you take the piss expect it back and don't get all "say that to my face" all you are doing is annoying good people and they will get grumpy back.
Good call brooke, i second - EVERYONE LIGHTEN UP!
JamRoll - come along - the more the merrier, we are probably all back on the 10th or after but i am sure there's a few in our group who would be happy to catch up before then.

Hi all,
I am new to KB and live in TA.
The "best looking contest" has already been won so we don't even try to go there. Fraggle aka Munta is just too damn pretty for the rest of us ;)
Yeah man, the more people from the 'moot the better. We're trying to take over.

hi guys and gals. I'm planning on taking tomorrow afternoon (Tuesday 30th) off work to go for a ride with another guy and lady I know whose keen to ride with us. He's got a yamaha 1100 which goes really well. Looking at heading off 1.15pm (weather permitting) and going morrinsville, matamata (it probably will rain then) and going to the famous Okoroire pub for a coffee and sandwich. Any one interested meet at the Kingsgate 1ish. (won't be a fast fast ride as the learner (689kms now, top speed 115km/ph) wants to go as well. Great ride yesterday pity no one could join us!!
On Sunday the 4th Jan, Dave, chrissie, me and Trina are heading to Taupo (via car) to watch the car racing (Brookes father is racing a corvette) so I assume Brooke and cameron will be out for that day as well. It is still all go isnt Brooke???

oddly enough .. the one time I came out with you guys, paddy was the only one really willing to chat to me (and bane .. but he's not part of the group) ..... oh well, we all have our little cliques don't we ? :)
Sorry to read this and disappointed that you felt no one was willing to chat with you. I certainly wouldn't call us a clique, we are all just people who like riding and do it for the fun of it (not to win medals). More the merrier I and others say (eg last paragraph Mister Koz's post #1727) and generally as we have grown in numbers we seem to spend more and more time talking before we ride. It was great to see Warr come along for drinks and dinner with us when he's not even ridden with us yet. (Warr if you read this hope the recovery is still going well)
Would be great to see you come on another ride!!.
Mister Koz and others I'm thinking maybe a Te Rapa tavern meeting Wednesday 7th and arrange a good "new years ride" for the 11th.

Yip it's still all go. We're heading down on the Friday (maybe during the day if they can do some testing). We kinda have to go down since we're taking back his car which he left up here.
If you're wondering what sort of racing it is, it's what's known as the tier 2 series of motor racing in NZ with the GT1 (Brooke's Dad's class) being the headliners. These guys aren't allowed to race with the NZV8's or the ozzy SuperV8's because they go faster! (well that's a little joke going on). They're not cheap cars either, one of them has had over $1mil spent on it and is considered the fastest TVR in the world!
Enough about cars, what's up with the weather?? Just when I feel like doing a mid-week ride tomorrow. So are we thinking the next "planned" LOR will be the 11th?

Yeah, bloody weather. Forecast for tomorrow is showers clearing so hopefully the current rain will blow over for tomorrow avo, however back to rain Wednesday avo-evening. Looks like the next "planned" ride will be 11th with so many away this coming weekend

....... (Warr if you read this hope the recovery is still going well)........
Hi again Murray... yes I do follow the going's on in this thread :)
My recovery... all boring really .. but since you asked :) :) ... tis slow.
I am left with 2 main areas of concern.
1. Left hand. Gaining full use of all fingers. Particularly little finger that dont work.
2. Left shoulder. Lack of arm/shoulder strength. Last specialist sent me off for an MRI on shoulder. Rota-Cuff Muscles compromised. High probability of getting the knife to resolve.
...and some areas of less concern.
Lack of movement of both left & right wrist
Grip strength way below parr on both hands.
But good thing is I have a set of wheels mostly sorted... just down to $'s now and being able to pull the clutch with a weak hand!!
And bit of a biggie, Clare isnt very happy at the prospect of me getting another bike.
So treating that fear with respect and hope we can both be accommodated. She has had to put up with alot following the accident, I dont want to be a high maintenance guy forever :)

If he's kept it the same as he brought it, it's known as The General Lee or just The General (that's what I'll be calling it anyway). There's some photo's on Krissie's profile. Think of Shrek but orange since. I think Dave just wants to be seen since the black didn't go down so well.
BTW, you must have made an impression at Honda, the dude remembers you there and you didn't even buy anything from him!...or did you...???

I can imagine what your partner would be feeling like, and respect for thinking about it. There are some pricks out there that don't.
Out of interest, what exercises do you do to build up your hand strength? (mind out of the gutter you lot). I'm fortunate that I never needed to build strength up much after my injuries but mine would be considered "paper-cuts" compared to yours (from what I've heard).
