I would say thats ok. With my old one I used to get around that. Got 20km/l once or twice. Most bikes Singles, twins etc all seem to get similar MPG with the exception of Beemers, 650 singles and 800 twins. They get incredible MPG.
Hows yours Nordie with that FCR ?

About 18.5 with the DJ'd BST and 19.5 with the FCR for the same sort of workout.
    I'd expect 21-22 on a longer trip.

Riding solo in the hills is more efficient than around town for me as I'm smoother in the hills without all the stop/starts of day-to-day town running.

It doesn't stop it popping but it really reduces it.

From what ive been reading the FCR is meant to be better than the TM40 in that respect. There seems to be some "didling around" to do with the FCR's when fitting them, compared to the TM40 which can be got pre jetted. Either way, a dyno is stil the best way to finalise the jetting. Where did you have yours dynoed ?

Kientech And Procycle have jet kits for the FCR and mx_rob will give ballpark jetting for your specifics.
1 machined adaptor and changed jetting is all that's required.

The TM40 needs jets, 2 adaptors, cables.

I haven't had it dyno'd with the FCR but get it done at City Motorcycles where Lester is working out how to do a big valve conversion

Rode 167 kms from fill to reserve today. Put 9.73 litres in and the odometer read 177kms at that point, so 18.1 kms per litre. Running Dynojet needle 4th clip from the top and 160 main jet. Haven't looked at the plug so cannot comment on colour.

I didn't really flog it but wondered if that was a good result or poor.

I do 180-190 km commuting on a tank to reserve. Bog standard stock set up.

I need to put my DR on a dyno, gives good economy (21k/l) but can be fairly stumbly and surges a little down low

Simplest change is to remove the snorkle and raise the needle with a small washer.
Noticable improvement in bottom and midrange.
If you don't like it you can easily put it back to stock.

Done, think i've raised it about 0.8mm but still not right. How have you set the mixture screw? Last time I think i went out till highest/smoothest idle, then in half a turn

That's about right. Also make sure your idle is around 1,500rpm.

My son has a Vaypor. Is it possible to hook the tach function to my bike but leave it installed on his?

Maybe a dumb question but we haven't played with it yet.

    Cheers
