Most challenging Akaroa ride to date! Think I'll give Akaroa a break for a few weeks.

Here are some shots taken from Duvauchelle. My camera decided to go haywire with the shutter speed (down to 1/120!) so all of em came out blurry :( Pity pity!

Thank you SS I hope you and everyone had a good Christmas and New Year's.

The Hurunui Pub is no longer doing Pizzas. As the Toyota dog said "Bugger".

I guess the next best thing is steak eggs and chips at Little River.

The Indian and Victory shop has a ride to Oxford via the Ashley Gorge tomorrow night. Meeting at the shop at six to leave at half past. The last ride to the Wheatsheaf via Gebbies Pass had about 35 bikes. All bikes welcome. Great to go somewhere different with lots of different people on different sorts of bikes.

As the evenings draw in, I suppose the WNR has run it's course. Came out last Wed 9th, sadly no one showed.

Send me a txt or something, haven't ridden much over summer, just too hot but could be up for more now... a bit backward I know but you know with all that gortex and heated stuff to wear. :sweatdrop
Still prefer a little earlier start than the 6pm though if destination is for food.

Rain clearing. Southerlies dying out, max of 13C is the current expectation for this Wednesday. Got to take J's DR for a run.

5 of us and some dogs in a sidechair, it was good and even got close enough to listen to and admire whatastoners CRF1000 Africa Twin for a bit of the ride.
We went up Dyres Pass to Governers Bay and around to Gebbies Pass over to regroup on Millers Road then the ChCh-Akaroa Rd to the Little River Pub. Food and BS then another pleasant cruise back in the dark arriving home about 9:15pm.

Slow is good for new riders and new bikes, seen far too many crash out of corners thinking they were better than they were, heck even did it myself.

Hmmm quite agree. Ask the troops about a certain corner on the summit road a few years ago. Windrow of pea gravel, sun strike, I had been trying not to fall too far behind SS but had slowed down. Poor old Nevada went one way, I wound up in the middle of the road, top box went in another direction. Ride was shortened and I have my zimmer frame(sidecar) complete with seeing eye dogs.

So.
Anybody out there for the later half of the years WNR's?
Weather forecast looks a bit drizzly/cloudy for this evening.
But we won't let that stop us. Will we?

EJK
28th September 2016, 12:10
Ah, not tonight for me. Still haven't sorted out my rego yet.

I think WOF is also due :pinch:

I am going to try to do a couple of Wednesday night rides a month, but difficult due to work. Anyone going to the show this Sunday at the show grounds?

I rode most weekends during winter with the exception of about three of them due to weather. I got caught in snow a few weeks back which sucked, but otherwise I didn't have any issues and just stayed away from the alps.

If it's anything to go by from last year it will just be a few commercial stalls, food stalls and safety tips and demos put on by Pete (Ratuscat on here).

Its less of a expo and more of a "it's the start of the riding season and you need to ride responsibly" blab".

Start of the bike riding season, Only for those who put there bike away for winter, I never stopped riding. I was at Akaroa early this month and it looked like most of the CHCH riders had taken their rego off hold as there where hundreds of bikes out that day. I know the Yamaha shop ride had about 80 riders with them.
