Canterbury Wednesday Night Ride
Meet at Burger King Moorhouse 6.00pm for departure at 6.30pm.
This is not a race from point A to point B. If you want to "see how fast you can go" then please just go somewhere else.
Learners are most welcome on these runs, just let the organiser know who you are so we can assign a helper to ride with you at your pace.
As a lot of our favourite haunts are munted, have our members given thought to other destinations?????? ...........PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!
Old favourites still functioning
Duvauchelles-Akaroa.
Oxford.
Greta valley Pub.
Taitap Pub.
Little River Pub.
Wheatsheaf.
And anywhere else anybody can come up with.
We don't like rules but!!!
1. Rider Responsibility
It is the responsibility of each and every rider to ride safely and within their abilities. If any rider acts in a dangerous manner then they will be asked to leave. Remember, you not only put yourself at danger but also the other riders and the general public. If you do not understand this then do not come.
2. Rider Assistance
At the car park we’ll ask that riders who would like some one on one help will be asked to put their hands up and we’ll ask some of the more experienced riders to provide that help. Please don’t be shy. This is an excellent opportunity to ride with and learn from people who have many decades of riding under their belts.
3. Leader
The cruisy group will have a lead rider appointed each week. Obviously it will be someone with reasonable skill so as to not piss everyone off. The leader will stop at the pre-determined regroup points and wait for the entire group to arrive before departing. Please give the leader a little space. If they are not travelling fast enough for you then overtake them and leave the group. We will see you at our destination.
4. Tail End Charlie
A TEC will also be determined as a safety measure. No body will ever be left behind on these runs.
5. Rossi clones
If you wish to do your own thing then feel free, but please leave a bit earlier, before the rest of the group!! We'll see you at the pub (and we expect some beers waiting for us when we arive). There's nothing worse than someone trying to be Rossi and carving up the slower riders to get to the front. That's when accidents happen. Leave first, ride hard and do not place the other's at risk. If we find you in a ditch we will provide first aid until the ambulance arives, but do not expect any sympathy on the web afterwards. If we find you talking to Mr Plod we will take and post photos.
Disclaimer: Neither myself, nor any other participant is responsible for another rider's actions. Each rider is responsible for their own riding.
Most of this was copied from Pheonixgtr, thanks Tristan.

Was wondering if these would carry on.
I'll have a chat to the boss and see if we can do fish and chips here at Hampton Honda after a few rides!
Might be in the market for a wee classic at some stage of summer (or a track car) but we'll see what happens...

As long as we can get everyone going in the same direction, and avoid the bitching about what that direction should be, it should be a good summer.
Looking forward to something to do on a wednesday night now that the mountain bike night racing is finished :scooter:

Sorry to hear this RG... hard to get opportunities while your boys are little, I bet you will be like me and it will be something to come back to.
I am a bit like you at the moment, tempted to sell, my reason is because for two years I had an awesome, experienced rider to look out for me... my confidence is knocked by the thought of going out alone. I know there is heaps of support here from our fellow riders... I just need to take that step, and I haven't yet

Experienced riders GET their experience from doing the miles ON the road ... usually ALONE ...
You get quite selfish riding alone ... stopping whenever YOU like ... as FAST (or slow) as YOU like (or feel comfortable at) ... with rides just as long as it takes YOU ...
Just stopping at the top of as pass somewhere ... to watch the world pass by ... or not ... travelling by yourself DOES have advantages ...
Just go DO IT ... then you wont regret you didn't ...

Everyone gets overtaken sooner or later mate. On one ride last year I got passed by 20 bikes in 10 minutes. Mind you, at the time, I was stopped on roadside fixing a puncture.

Bout $400 if you buy in NZ (http://www.trademe.co.nz/electronics-photography/video-cameras/video-cameras/other/auction-410877559.htm).. the exchange rate isn't so good right now, so you'll only save about $40 buying from the states (http://www.ebay.com/itm/GoPro-HD-Helmet-HERO-1080p-Video-Camera-CHDHH-001-/180730087427?pt=Camcorders_Professional_Video_Came ras&hash=item2a145a4803) instead.

Hi All, just letting you know that if you decide not to go out for a ride this wednesday night ( who knows what the schizophrenic weather will do) then you are welcome down at the Papanui Club on Sawyers arms road from 7.30.
IAM ( Institute of Advanced Motorists) monthly meeting is on there and then. We will have a representative from ACC with us ( as they are helping fund our BURT MONROE reviver Stop next month) and 2 St John's Paramedics doing a First Response/ First Aid for an accident scene training session. If the weather isn't good and you get there early they have a great restaurant and fairly cheap( good value for money) food
I also have a few copies of Roadcraft the police riders handbook($20) for a couple of you and some copies of Advanced motorcycling the essential skills($25) for anyone who is interested.
Hopefully see some of you there, if not enjoy the evening riding and be safe!

This has popped up in years past and discussed just the other day, but if it seems a Wednesday is definitely going to be naff weatherwise  (like tomorrow is) but the following day is going to be fine :sunny: (like Thursday is and last week was), then why not roll over to the Thursday night? This would also give people unable to usually make Wednesday's attend on the Thursday maybe.

Thanks man but there's barely room for me to squeeze in through our attic door let alone a big 20L bucket, it's very stupidly designed.
It's next to where the edge of the roof meets the outside wall so as soon as your head is through the attic door, you hit the roof.
Then you've gotta twist flat and into the attic, while your body is still in coming through the door, and duck under a beam with just under 2 feet in height to manoeuvre. As soon as you start going under the beam you have to bend upwards, looking like a snake in an S shape, to get over the cold water pipes. At this point your knees should just be coming through the attic door.
It's a mission to say the least!
So I don't think I'll be able to get anything bigger than a standard bucket in there. The rats have no issues getting in tho, little buggers!

Thursday looks good... again....
The Canterbury Undefined Night Tour keeps looking better all the time.
Wednesdays seem to be subject to a disproportionate amount of crapness. If you look at the co-efficient of variation squared divided by the std deviation of the ratio of wet/dry days multiplied by the inverse 4th order polynomial of the median periodic regression, then plot the outcome on a Blant-Altman diagram then it becomes quite evident.:wacko:

Yea, t'was a nice ride, apart from losing almost all electrical power. The bike ran, just, but when I turned on the lights the were thing would grind to a halt. Didn't even have enough juice for the led indicators or brake lights!
Time for a new alternator methinks?

Yea, t'was a nice ride, apart from losing almost all electrical power. The bike ran, just, but when I turned on the lights the were thing would grind to a halt. Didn't even have enough juice for the led indicators or brake lights!
Time for a new alternator methinks?
The look of confusion on some of the faces when I start following them around the Bays and then at the end when I think Stefan and Ben saw me and didn't realise I had gone home to swap bikes. All they saw was me leaving on one bike and arriving on another!
Thanks to all for a fun evening

Gidday gloplg :wavey:
Oh yeah....love dealing with pete at motokiwi (he's the only guy I go through for guzzi parts...not the cheapest..but easily the best!)
Pete's service and support has been amazing over the past few years (and all the tips & advice!).....unfortunately the Keihins aren't standard on guzzi's, so he dosn't stock parts etc for them and can't really source them.
...but thanks for reminding me...gotta send him and his wife a xmas card
