That hill doesn't look anything like a parrot. Unless it was a parrot that had died and had been buried with a shite load of dirt on top of it.

 True.

Maybe it had heaps of parrots living on it before the farmers came along, rooted the habitat and replaced parrots with sheep...

I was thinking of Slofox. Have to admit, I'd like a pair of heated handgrips. Unfortunately, There is Rego next month, need. a new rear tyre, pinlock and visor, engine service,

Winter will be well and truly over before the cash flow lets me look at the 'girlie' options.

Also, trying to put some cash aside for a trip around northland late November. The trip up north was going to be down to the Burt Munro week, but costs rule that out this year.

OLD TAG: Viands Bakery, Alexandra Street Te Awamutu. I went past it three times before I finally found it - and that only because I saw the picture theatre opposite. Not the easiest picture to take this morning in Te Awamutu's peak minute traffic...and no, I didn't stop in for a pie (even though the temptation was severe...)

I'd go get the tag but I whipped the rear wheel off the bike this arvo. It was bald and with no rego untill payday next week, I thought I had better remove temptation to ride, especially with 5 days off work.

Tomorrow, I will scrub out the rear subframe, swingarm, inside of mufflers etc while the wheel is off.

Then mow the bloody lawns, trim the bloody edges, spray the bloody weeds, stack up the bloody firewood, bloody sulk for the 5 days, that'll teach the wife to insist that bloody household bills have to be paid first. She's the one that has to live with me not riding!!

Quite a nice tag really. I'd say everyone has been past this tag more than once in their lifetime.

I dunno if the new one has been done before (the closer shot). I have a feeling it may have. If so, bugger off :) Use the wider shot instead and it has to be a similar angle :) If not, the wider shot is actually meant to be a clue but I don't think it'll be clear enough.

These "shacks" always made me laugh when I was a kid. I used to ride down this road while the folks run from in town. It's a cool road on any bike. If you go for a ride down it watch out for the "new seal" which isn't actually seal and it raw rock! :shit:

The "pump sheds" are actually the old toilets from the School that used to be there years ago. I think they had a sense of humour when they left them there because someone said something should be left to remind everyone there was a school. Obvious really. :)

I wasn't gonna be fussy with "photo placement" at all. Shit, you could have taken from the corner with the shit houses in the background and I would have said cool. It's about the ride isn't it? ;)

New Tag: This one has been cropped because im sure every Hamilton person has been past this in the past 4 months.
Sorry for the shocking phone pics.

Well done on those exams Jake! Good stuff.

Sooooo...where were the "pump shed thingies" or dunnies as the case may be? I went cruising about this morning but didn't find them. Just as well, eh?

Old tag :done: - Te Awa front. Sure makes rusty metal look cool alright. Got plenty of funny looks from the guys unloading that truck, bet they thought I was a tool that should get a job.

New tag - Originally I was going to tag the sign by my bike. Then I realised it was a pretty cool look out, so I thought I’d try something a bit different.

It’s a Pan-o-rama Tag-o-rama!!
Very cool little place, I’m sure you guys will find It easy, but more pic’s are available if you can’t. You geographically savvy folk should be all over this....

New tag, Now, if I 'ad gone 2 dat plas wen i waz a child i wud no wat da nuu tag iz.

There was one helluva lot of fog up there this morning. I followed Waipapa Road to Huirimu road and then came back on Huirimu and Pukewhau which goes past the school. Some wunnerful country along Pukewhau. Couldn't see eff all on Huirimu. Cold as a witch's tit too...

Right you buggars, new is not far from the old tag. Barely an hours run from Hamilton. Cruise on out after work. Just be aware that they are resealing on the Kihikihi - Parewera rd and the hill leading up to the Wharepapa sth store. Lots of thick loose chips and not a bloody sign!!

Aotearoa by the way, is just this side of Aussie, ( I think?).

I'd be happy enough to go snap that tag - even if it has been used before. Just say the word. All those in favour..?

Hijack! If you check the Welly tag thread you'll see that doubling up is inevitable, but with new players coming and going it doesn't matter much. We are constantly amazing ourselves at all the untagged resources out there as well, so I dare say the Waikato has a few fresh ones in her yet.

Go for it!

The thing is, too learn all the old tags and eliminate them all from anyone new to the game doesn't leave much of a playing field for them. ( and who can remember every tag)

If a tags' been used before, in the past, it still means a ride for someone to get it, and thats the purpose of the thread surely?

If a bloody GSXR600 outside Slofox's letterbox gets posted 10x in a month, then we might have to harden up.

It's not bloody - it's orange...

But yeah, the point of the game is the ride.

I'm probably off the bike this weekend - other things to do both days, so someone else might like to go fetch.

OLD TAG: Much used sign pointing to Aotearoa Pa. This is along a goat track of a road of the same name - Aotearoa Rd. Just beyond Wharepapa South.

NEW TAG: Some kinda hippie coffee shop not too far from Te Awamutu.

I thought I'd go up the west bank of the river, over Karapiro dam, cut off at Karapiro Road, Taotaoroa road and then the main road to the tag. Return kinda the same. Can't be having with main roads too often...

Here 'tis then...

OLD TAG: Carpark at McLaren Falls, Bay of Plenty.

NEW TAG: I think we are back in the Waikato here - Goggle reckons it's in Waikato. Definitely on the Eastern side of the district. I do have a reserve pic if necessary. Easy enough to find. Goggle is your friend (as usual).

252246 252247

Interesting trip. Fog (especially at the top of the Kaimai pass - thick as pigshit!). Some bastard lasered me just over the Karapiro dam. Luckily I had the sun right in my eyes at the time so was going dead slow with left hand held up to try to shade the sun. Yeah - plenty of sun strike. Couple of arse-clenching moments when rounding a corner only to be struck blind by the low sun. And of course a gazillion trucks on the Kaimai pass - especially on the return leg.

Got to see some fabulous early morning scenery though - most especially on Taotaoroa Road. There's some great views up there. And I finally got to see McLaren Falls - after driving past the access road for some 60+ years without ever going to have a looksee. But now I know.

Funniest bit was when I first turned into McLaren Falls Rd. There's a driveway on the right just as you leave the main road. There was a cop car stopped across the driveway, lights flashing away, with a little white hatchback blocked in and a couple of rather sheepish persons just getting out...Looked rather as though they may have tried to hide from said LEO but failed. Bugger! Saw the cop later a little further up the road when I had stopped to look at the falls. Was tempted to ask him what the guts was but thought perhaps I ought to just shut up and go on my way. Gave him a wave and a wee laugh anyway.

Hey slo, what you want to dim down that nasty sun is one of these: http://www.sunax.de/en/products/sunax-bx.html

Pretty sure Whites stock them; so any local bike shop can order them in. You can get grey and mirrored; they don't bring the 'steel' into NZ.

I got the mirrored sportsbike one; would never be without it now. Absolutely brilliant for riding directly into the sun. You can see through it, but the sun doesn't blind you.

It just pushes into your helmet; on my Shoei it fits between the liner and the shell.

No more holding up your hand and peering forwards ...

Trouble with most of the Eastern Waikato area is the flat straight roads you have to traverse to get there...
