Check out a few posts previously... detailed instructions. ie Cambridge Road, near the cycle track, little block of shops where the finest wines and spirits establishment in the greater waikato is located.

Have a look at that...
Oak staves are often used in winemaking to give oak influence - cheaper than barrels...

Why don't you merge the two threads
Because some people in this thread are not aware of the LOR thread and its rides. Now that we have the first decent Sunday in about 6 weeks I think it is a good opportunity through this thread to promote the ride on Sunday.

Is the google tag map being kept up to date?
rustyrobot
9th July 2010, 14:36
Sorry, I fell a bit behind with it recently because people didn't give specific locations for the tags and it took too long to trawl through google maps finding where they were on a road (I think it started with the Rangitoto Rd one). Feel free to jump on yourself and add the new tags ;)
Otherwise will try and get on to it this weekend.

No, I think Jonathon made it open editable. Might take a little playing with to get 100% sussed but not too hard if you are not afraid to experiment. You might have to subscribe to the map before you can enter it, and have to be logged into gmail or gmaps.
- Load the map
- Click the EDIT button at the top of the tag list on the left hand side
- Find your location
- Click the little blue pin to add the tag point (it says 'add a placemark' when you mouse over it)
- Stick it in the spot you want
- Type in the tag info (can follow the examples of the other tags or go your own merry way)
- Change the edit mode if you want to add links to the tag post or picture (although pictures don't seem to be working at the moment)
- Click on the blue pin icon in the top right corner of the info box and scroll down until you find the little green bike picture
- Done!
Can always delete mistakes too.
It's really Jonathon's baby though so you have to deal with him if you break it :)

:second: Haha looks like you beat me to it...
So i promised my girlfriend lunch at Mt Maungaui today since it was a fine day (to her dis-amusement i took the longway to go tag hunting :devil2:)
After i got the first tag (now invalid- thanks STJim) i continued on to The mt via Kaipaki rd... Cruising along this road i come around a nice easy bend, exiting at about 30% faster than i should be to be greeted by a nice long striate piece of road - lock the throttle on and just enjoy the sunshine.
in the distance a car comes around the bend everything fine
5 seconds later that car is getting bigger so i grab the throttle and slowly slow down
5 seconds later ...:Police: so i slowly reduce speed till i get to 107 and held that.
5 seconds later - We are about a second apart a quick flash of the :Police: headlights and stern WARNING finger from both the officer and his partner
I check my mirrors and :gob: they just kept on driving the other way  :Police: :Offtopic:
Old Tag - 'Houchen Retreat House entrance sign' on Houchen st
New Tag - Clue: My return From 'The MT' was along all the main roads. (thanks to my partner not wanting to go down Buckland rd again)
So I tried to keep with the 'Wooden animals in the paddock' theme but road was too busy to stop on the bend, this was the next safest thing.

I am fine using chrome.
If I use Opera, it is a bit if a 'mare.
This version of vBulletin is very very buggy. I suspect most of the issues you are having with Kiwibiker will be vBulletin related rather than browser related.
Chrome is working for me fine outside of Kiwibiker too.

Alot of the new browsers are having problems with old web software (forum etc) and a lot of new software are having problems with slightly older browsers. Some banks are having issues with certain latest gen browsers even after they update.
It's all to do with how the implement the new features that are coming out (HTML 5 etc) but some software makers are trying to allow for the changes and missing a few things. I think that's what's happening to a few on the forum.
I don't have any probs using Safari, but for some sites it misses a few things. Generally 'fox sorts them out.

Right. Time to get on yer bikes and ride...no more of this pussy-footing round the city...
Old Tag: On Morrinsville Road at Eureka - name is self explanatory.
New Tag: Name also self explanatory and easy to find.
I should demand that anyone going to get this tag goes via the circuitous route that I took...(= got lost for a bit...)
Here's where I ended up going...not really lost but a little bit less direct than intended...

Now surly no one would have beaten me this time, i left to get the tag 10 minuets after it was posted.
Old tag - Rongopai Wines, Te Kauwhata
New Tag - Kept to the same region as the last tag,
Hint - in the far backgroung of the photo, to the left a little bit, if you looked hard, and you had crazy good eyes, you would see two big arse chimnys (Huntly power station).

Welcome aboard babyB...the more the merrier.
The game is Waikato wide - which is a pretty big area.
I think if you trawl back through early posts there is a Waikato area map somewhere that sets out the boundaries. We have had tags on the Coromandel peninsula before today, so just get stuck in!

It depends what you want it for. If you are going to email it, you could just email the link, otherwise the most basic way to do it would be to...
1. get the picture you want up on the screen, then push the 'printscreen' button on your computer (somewhere above the arrow keys)
2. open the program 'paint' (found under > accessories from the start menu) then select > edit > paste (or push ctrl+V). This will put a copy of the whole screen into paint.
3. Now select the area that you want with the square box tool (with dotted lines around the edge) and then select edit > copy (or push ctrl+C).
4. Now select > File > New (don't save)
5. Select > edit > paste (or ctrl+V). You should now have the picture you want and can save it where you need.
6. When you save it, save as type .jpg
There's possibly a much easier way or some sort of plugin, but that will work fairly well on any computer and you will already have the software. :)

Glad to hear your ok.....sorry about ya bike mate...is the insurance co gonna pay you out??
Im comprehensively insured (with state) so I can not see why or how they couldnt pay out. Will be harassing them as of Monday as I need the payout to get another bike/gears before I start a new job the following Monday. Was meant to be this coming Monday but a little too sore unfortunately. Accident occured 15 mins after the job interview for this new job.
So has cost me over a grand in lost wages and doctors bills and around 800 lost on my gears (depreciation/replacements costs/excess). So much for fully insured really.
On a positive note though, my stebel magnum turned up today for the Hyosung (true story)

Old Tag: At the end of Grey Rd on the slopes of Mt Pirongia - Pirongia Forest Park Lodge walkway sign. Yeah I know it's a little small in my pic but it's the same place...
New Tag: In keeping with the lodge theme...easy-peasy
Round behind the mountain
Where there's sheep and cows to dodge
Take the road out to the coast
You'll find Te Kauri Lodge...

You can do any road if you just take it within your own limits - just go slow. If traffic gets up behind you, pull over and let it through. I did plenty of this when I was just back on the SV. All roads are possible if you don't approach them like a MotoGP race track...practice makes perfect! :sunny:

Suzuki VL 250, 2008 7.5k klms, ventura rack, $4200, thought i got a good deal. Goes quite well.
Didnt get another GV 250 as I have now had the "new bike" experience and cant be fucked with depreciation, feeling guilty about not washing it etc. Also buying second hand meant I had no need to look at the price labels whilst shopping for the gears, had an idea what i wanted and just made sure it fit (which was my biggest issue literally).

6 :D Well kinda. I decided I'd finally brush the dust of Sonic II and at least head out that way to see if the roads really were worthy. They indeed are, but I couldn't actually find the tag  I'm obviously completely blind.
Wasn't all bad though. I took some photos with the phone of some cool light effects in the sky but they turned out crap.
Also found out I need to do a lot more riding with my new leather pants to stop me slipping all over the show before I do the Superbike School in October.

Old tag - Te Kauri lodge out on the way to kawhia.

Your right about the great roads out to te kauri slofox, ill definetly be back there during summer. The roads were pretty wet today out there in places, so im sure its even more fun out there when its properly dry. 200km trip and i filled up when i left and got back, only $11 gas, good old hyosung aye,

No movement yet? Whats the story?
I know its winter, but the tag is a measly 78 km's from The Tron.......
I can conveniently deliver it to someone when I relocate the Pan Euro in a week or so, would that help? (Friendly stir, allow to simmer, LOL)
