Well I would've gotten it had I not gone into the side of the lady who turned right, across my path today.
Bikes a bit smashed up, I'm fine though.
Should've seen her earlier, and should've practised my braking more.

Should've, should've, should've. That sound's like me after my crash. At least you know how to potentially avoid similar accidents in the future. Was this your 1st crash? Get on to the insurance ASAP. Having no bike for over a month gives you a "no bike depression", true story.:msn-wink:
Hope all is well and you get back shiny side up soon

Yeah it was my first bike crash. I plan on grabbing full cover as soon as I get a new job (I make no profit out of delivering pizza) in the meantime I may be able to talk the rents into temporarily paying for it.
Hopefully it shouldn't take too long, the driver said she would pay for the damages, and I just got back from giving her my bank details and watching her put the money in my account just now. So hopefully I can get the bike sorted pretty quickly, won't be able to survive too long without it :P
Only out come was a sore hand, a ticket for her being on her learners unaccompanied and a police report reference number in case she refused to pay up.

I know, yeah she has sent me the $$$, I made sure to get onto it as quickly as possible while she's still freaking out about it before she got any other ideas.
I'm glad that it's only a sore hand and nothing else. :S
Total for repair parts is $1240. With a guesstimated paintjob.

Sorry to hear about your off, but dont forget any and all gear that was damaged including a possible new lid. When I had my off, was unsure if the helmet hit the ground or not, told the insurance company I was unsure but would be claiming for a new one as not worth the risk. They paid out:niceone:

If you go up the road to the right of this school, you get to travel an amazing road - probably not a road bike road if it's the same as it was last time I went over it. It comes out at Oparau eventually. It's sealed a certain way up. Great views from up there. Probably best done in early summer but any time is better than none.

I posted a tag at the end of the sealed section about a year ago. Jim got my tag but complained the road was to tight for his housebus. I came out through the Te Rauamoa rd. It had just been graded then. Was an interesting ride.
If the weather holds off this morning, I'll go for a run. If I get the current tag, I might do a circut around the same track and check out if any more has been sealed. I doubt it tho',
Last time, I got called back to work.

I want to get back on a lighter bike. After a couple of smaller bikes, the XVS is quite a handful sometimes. The long wheelbase and the 246kg is more than I feel comfortable with.
I'm in two minds; a 250 GPX/GSX/GT hyo, or go for a 200-400 trail bike and get into the gravel back roads. Trouble with them is the seat heights.
I advertised the 650 yesterday on Turd me and have had 7 contacts. All are looking at a bigger option for their restricted classes. A lady is coming from Wangamata this arvo , another coming on Sunday, Without the change with the LAMS rules it would've been a lot harder to sell. Another is a sth African who had a GN 250 lined up but felt his 160kg might be a tad too much.
I did advertise it to sell or exchange for a similar priced bike. 25 have it on their watchlist, so I'm hopeing it will sell.

Unfortunately, I think I'm going to be without a bike for a while. The money from my bike sale paid off two cards, instead of another bike, so rather than buy something thats just a fill in, I'll let the cash build up and get a reasonable midweight bike.
The wife has had a gutsful of things not getting done around the house while the bike has had tyres, servicing, rego, insurance, petrol money spent whenever they were due. I'll build up some 'Brownie' points for a couple of months. I can see a lot of 'test' rides coming up.

Quite an interesting jaunt this. To get the Gallipoli side of the memorial required getting the bike onto the grass. Easy enough but the ground was soft after the rain so getting the bloody thing to stand up was a bit of a mission...
I was gonna put the new tag somewhere along the road that goes around Karioi but there was a rally on, eh, so I couldn't get out there. The rally meant the road was full of LEO's - everywhere! :Police: The TPX was very effective though at warning me to check speeds. All this talking of tags and maps an shit gave me the urge  so off I went to get the latest tag. Its in the maungakawa scenic reserve. I seem to remember picking up another tag there quite some time ago. Here's something I didn't know. It's actually the site of a sanatorium used for patients with tuberculosis to recover back in the day. The original building has long since gone and the little concrete bit behind the sign is all that remains!
Old Tag. Maungakawa scenic reserve sanatorium hill
New Tag. Clue....That dairy factory in the background does NOT belong to Fonterra :shifty:

This was as close as I wanted to go, not knowing how much water was requiring fording. Good enough? If not, someone else can go get it on their dual purpose. Or wait for the flood to subside. I couldn't be having with dragging the bike out of a flood.

Wow, based on the Google Street View of the place, it looks like they've spent some money tidying the place up.

There was a lot of surface flooding out there today - round the back of Taupiri was awash.
I probably could have gone through the water but I wasn't sure if the driveway was intact - might have been washed away. Didn't want to drop into a hole.
Yeah, new tag is close but I was short of time - and dodging showers as well. More time, I was tempted to head up the pass over to the Plains - if I could've remembered which road to take.

You musta missed that bit.
The bike had a problem with a cam follower munting a cam lobe. New follower and camshaft now being installed - get back next week after two months off waiting for parts.
The hand is due to surgery on the palm to release Duypetrens Contracture. That gets unbandaged next Wednesday.

Nice! It took me a few minutes to find a shot that got a goodly amount of the area in without the sign that would give the game away! I need to go there for a beer or coffee one day. I wonder if they have any beers on tap there beyond the ones that were at the home show. The 'Station Master' is a great drop!

So, I have finally started to play this little game. The old bugger in the photo ended up wanting to chat about my bike and we talked for about half an hour from KTM's to Kawasaki's and from Buckets to Tri-Series.
I was going to grab a bite to eat there but was expecting him to come sit down and chat some more. He is around there often as he talks about all the bikes that pass through.
Anyways, hope to have the next location up tomorrow :)

Well, it's on a 'hill' so in Hamilton that narrows things down more than a roundabout!

Apparently not. Google-fu failed me. No idea. I think it's somewhere to the south/west of hamilton, looking SW toward Pirongia, but for all I know it's actually to the north/east looking towards the Kaimai's?
