Road info : There are some minor roadworks at the top :shutup::shutup: where this pic is taken road surface can be slippery from gate way onwards, caution advised... I will accept a pic taken at gateway if road surface is to much for you, BUT YOU MUST HAVE SCENIC RESERVE SIGN & BIKE IN PIC TO QUALIFY :Oi::Oi::Oi:

I was up today
at quarter to six
to go and get the tag...
but Insomnia's beaten me to it!
what a fucking drag....

Not such a drag actually - but I couldn't think of another rhyme...
Being so close to Scotsman's Valley Road was too good a chance to waste, so through there I went, thinking to get another tag in Morrinsville, seeing as hoo none have been there so far...
BUT the fog was thick as pigshit and I got a little disorientated and ended up miles north when I thought I was heading west...ahhhehehe. Eventually got back home again in time to get sorted for work....

Better luck next time maybe...

Mind you, I did leave both shop signs out on the footpath all night last night...:crazy:

Actually I have got to quite like riding in the rain this winter. Just have to go a little easier than usual. Good gear certainly helps as does better visor management...Years ago I had only a bike for transport and had to ride in any weather, so I did get used to it. Taken a while, but that learning seems to be making a comeback...

Some years ago I got some rain gear from Para Rubber..."Rainbird" was the brand. Super light, scrunches up tight in the seat bag and never lets any water through. Not very expensive either as I recall...might be worth a look...

OMG, did no one go and get this today! The weather was amazing, I would have got it if it wasn't all the way over near Waitomo. There was a ton of bikers out around the Coromandel today. Myself included

I did!!! Went SH39/31 to Kawhia, then back along SH31 and took the Harbour Road via Te Anga into Waitomo, really beautiful although the roads were a bit dodgy at times. Bloody freezing my tits off once we were at Waitomo so after getting the tag, a pint and a warm up was in order before back home. About 190k in all and a great run but bloody cold, can't wait for summer!

Tag was the carpark where the Aranui cave entrance is. Not sure how to update the map sorry.

Next tag tomorrow as only just warmed up!

Piglet is correct. Although I couldn't make it seasonal, I did try to get the water reference in there as a kind of echo of the natural world - despite this lake being man-made.

Has any one noticed that Google maps has the regional boundaries on it, look for a grey dashed line. If you zoom in you can see Waikato on one side and Bay of Plenty etc. on the other. We may as well use that for the game boundaries.

'Twas an interesting ride down to Tirau this morning...went down west bank of Waikato intending to cross at Karapiro...and the bloody dam (not damn) road was CLOSED wannit? :angry2:
Was on quite a tight time schedule and the gas tank was low...Errmmmm dither dither..mmmmwhat'llI do? Go back across at Cambridge? Errmmmm ahh fuckit, just carry on, go over bridge on Maungatautari Rd. Which I did.
Got to Tirau, took pic, gas light already blinking at me. Headed back up SH1 to Cambridge instead of out east from Tirau which was what I wanted to do, bein' as 'ow I was a little late and gas was getting lower...not quite to Cambridge and the gas light goes solid (2l left - about 40km). :eek5: Cut west through Kaipaki Rd to home...had time to pootle up to the Gull station and refill beastie. Took 15.67 litres so still had over a litre left in there. That 15.67 litres had taken me 345km...not a bad range.
In case you're wondering, I like to use Force 10 in it so limited to Gull stations if I have the choice. That's about as far as I have pushed it before refilling. Somehow those little blinking warning lights get under my skin...:Pokey:

I was thinking, it was Kawhia to start with but didn't look right. Then I worked it out. If you've been out there a bit it would have been easy to work out where it's taken. Was thinking of popping out there this arvo since the weather has cleared but if you've been it's worth a virgin ride.

I too thought it was kawhia at first. I am in Raglan every weekend during the summer so i should have known this. Got stuck behind a truck over the deviation so i couldn't enjoy that on the way over. Got stuck behind a slow car and an idiot driver who was making half assed attempts to pass on the way back. So two rides ruined really! Still good fun though :yes:

No idea where the next tag will be. I might just do another "down the road" job as the wind is blowing me all over the road. Almost crossed the centerline on some big open straights a few times it was that strong.

Its like that silo stack.. you go past these things regular but they look so unique in the tag. Took me agers to think of where your last tag was till sil3ntwar said he drove past it every day to work. So stopped searching East and looked closer to home.

I thought you had to post the original tag and the new tag, at the same time?

I could've got the one at the river, but by the time I had taken the photo of the new tag someone had beaten me to it

Me thinks you guys should stick to the rules and post both at once or it's not counted

No that isnt the rules sorry.... Just need to post the next tag in a short as time as possible. Like less than 24 hours.
If a day passes and no new tag will assume they got tired & can be open slather for someone else to have a go.
