Sorry guys this sign has been tagged before in September last year - see pages 38 & 39 of this thread. My view is that your new tag is invalid and you need to put up another one By the looks of the weather comming for the weekend no one else will be out and about.

Nah not at all. If I can overcome the inertia of getting all togged up, I quite enjoy it. Once upon a time I had only a bike for transport so got used to all weather riding.

Went out this morning - not very rough really under the wet gear. Bit windy coming back from Cambridge but no where near as bad as when I went to d'Auckland earlier this year. Few bits of tree down around the countryside though...

Took some video of this morning's ride. If I can edit out something viewable I'll post it - although a first look suggests it's pretty crap footage...worthy only of the cutting room floor...

SO! Where's our new tag then?

Which Tag are you Googling Mike? I found Whatawhata Quarry on Google real easy, plugged the address in to Google Maps and up she popped. Likewise with CTC ( http://www.ctcaviation.com/0204.html )

I would have had that tag and the NZ wide one by lunchtime today had my bike not started to overheat this morning on the way there.

I caught it early when I heard the fan come on a few k's from home (Going slow thru roadworks). Nursed it back to the shop who did a water pump gasket YESTERDAY. Seems they snapped the water pump shaft. None in the country, 10 days ETA, - I leave NZ for another year in Bahrain in SEVEN days, was on the way to relocate my bike to Auckland for a bike swap with a US Guy, AND my farkin car is waiting for me in AK!

All together now "Awwwwwwwww Poor Shafty"

OK guys n gals - just what is the status of things at the moment. Does dynamite still have the chance to set a new tag or has it reverted to the whatawhata quarry?

We need a decision to get this thing on the road again. Me, I reckon if dynamite wants to, he can set something other than the CTC sign but I suppose we need a time limit of some sort. So, dynamite, you still wanna set something new? Others? Wotcha reckon?.

Nothing to do with Mr Plod actually...well, not directly anyway.

It is an electronic device that you put into the speed sensor circuit to correct an inaccurate speedo.

According to a GPS, my speedo reads 9% high - ie the speedo reads 109km/hr when the GPS says the speed is 100km/hr. This is little less accurate than I am comfortable with so I got one of these healer do-dads to correct it.

BUT I can't get it to work right...see HERE (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php/128321-Fitting-Speedohealer-to-GSX-R600-K8?p=1129867524#post1129867524).

Never really thought spending $150+ on having the speedo read more accurate was worth the spend. Makes sense for re-gearing though. Having it 9km/hr out is a good chuck though but I would just ride at 115 knowing I was sweet :)

In saying that, I can't really talk. I spent about $100 on getting a little unit to run both my headlights on dip at the same time instead of just one. :o

Mike, personally a little gravel is fine. Of course, I haven't gotten a tag in about a year so the regulars might have something different to say.

Hmmmmm...

Well I trawled through miles of street view and didn't find this...

Any ideas anyone? Must be close-ish to Te Kuiti I suppose - I might even have been past it last Sunday. But then, according to one certain female of my acquaintance anyway, I am "as observant as a brick wall"...

EDIT: Just to clarify the "observant as a brick wall" bit:

Typically it will be along the lines of the following...

She:" I saw you talking to Flossyboots. Did you see those shoes she was wearing?"
Me: "Shoes? What shoes?...I didn't look at her shoes! I was too busy looking at her tits...OOPS! Errrmmmahh hehehe...I mean..."

The closest I can narrow it down is Hangatiki. So if you find that place on Dodgy's map you'll be away laughing.

Well, Hangatiki is easy to fiind on google maps, but looks like a main intersection. Guess it's good to have a tag that requires a proper hunt around.

New Tag: Closer to the Pig club than the kiwi. On SH3. "Historic Place" says the sign...quite close to the Waitomo turnoff...East side of the road. Marae in behind it...just can't remember the name and can't read it from the crappy pic - which is why I used the Kiwi...

I went direct down there this morning but deviated on the way home - by then it was warm and the wanderlust took over. On the way down it was bloody freezing and I couldn't wait to turn round. Coffee in Oto helped...Troubadour makes nice coffee...

Gotta agree that that valley has THE best roads in the region. I've got a little 1 hour loop that takes some of them on.

Great ride to get the old tag. A little slow going down - sun in the eyes etc. A lot quicker coming back with sun behind. Recommended ride for anyone.

A couple of hazards - mower tractor sitting in the middle of the road. Locals in 4x4's using the entire road (normal). Pine cones (!) all over the road in places...

Apart from that, ace ride...no arse-twanging moments.

Well done fella.....:first:......Would have been funny had you snapped a certain noob who hasn't joined yet that rides a ct90 that lives very close to that tag :killingme

Finding that last tag actually took me two days and 400km of riding...I ran out of time yesterday so had to abort the hunt. Then, as I said, I went all the way to Kawhia today looking for it - even though I was suspicious of the section of road where it actually was. Yesterday I found 74044 just past Ngutunui and then a couple hundred metres further along was 74060...no 74055 between...that got me thinking that the numbers must turn around somewhere along the way. I opted to try the Kawhia road first (not a hard choice to make!) which was wrong - I found 74098 and then again a bit further along, 74088 on the other side of the road. Which encouraged me to continue along to Kawhia - without seeing any other supplier number.

So about turn and ignored the Ngutunui road on the way home. And sure enough, just west of SH39 was 74055...phew! Quite a trek.

Anyhoo, bike is in the shop tomorrow for 18000 service and new tyres...the back tyre is currently fooked...

I have now doubled the km travelled on that bike since I bought it in April. And that was in the manky season as well...

I was having a look at this tag. I used to do some work in TV (:)) but can't for the life of me work out where you've done it. The Temple looks too small for where I thought. Might have to go for a tiki-tour.

There ya go I have joined now so you can stop your crying :violin:
Yeah kinda close to that tag I ride past it everytime I leave the house but thought it would be good for someone to have a crack at finding first

So you're saying Dodgy took the tag when he was pretty much dropping you off?

That's just plan lazy.

OLD TAG: Carpark at Bridal Veil Falls

NEW TAG: Found this last Sunday - revisited today for picture just in case anyone thinks it's a file photo...

Used the "proper" camera today - no phone cameras involved. 240km round trip. About three hours with stops.

Clue as follows:

Go to the oldest of the dams
That block the river's flow...
The swinging bridge was used by the men
Who built it long ago...

I've put in two pics here - the tag is the blacksmith's shop - the other is just to help...(I couldn't really get the bike into the bridge pic, it being so high an' all...)

Hell, Dodgy - I thought that tag would last a week - and you go get it in about three hours! Talk about on the ball! Best we award you this week's Alacrity Award! :first:

I also learned that the first electric power generated on the Waikato River was at Horahora - plant now submerged beneath the Horahora bridge, evidently. Now I didn't know that!...

I think deep in the recesses of my memory banks, all covered in spiderwebs, is the desiccated husk of a memory about the submerged village beneath Karapiro...might have heard about it way back in the olden days...

Interesting reference...http://www.stuff.co.nz/waikato-times/features/708611
