Can I do a 'Bosslady' and post a pic from several months ago?/ Thought not. My scooter rides shows Buggsy at this fence. I wasn't going to get this one, but am heading down to explore the back roads around Tekuiti / Bennydale this Friday, so maybe a chance to make the next tag a decent ride.

No this tag isn't too far out of town and should be easy enough to find. If you want to "move on" go and collect it, unless you have already been out for look and can say it no longer there, in which case you should tag the previous tag.

At the moment it doesn't suit me to collect this tag, but if it's still there at the start of next month I will have a look.

Yeah can't for sure say its not there maybe a different direction is needed to spot it... maybe the OP could shed more light ? Not really a great tag IMHO and time is the judge. Is this a famous sawdust pile or just random disposable scenery ?

Even the remains of the sawdust pit would be easy enough to pick out. The letterbox and shrubs in the background will still be there. At the end of a dead end road, It aint hard.

I always took a draft quality b/w printout of the tag before venturing out. When I updated to a smart phone, I either upload the photo to the phone, check the forum via the phone whilst onsite or simply take a photo of the computer screen. Never had an issue since.

That will only work assuming you havent broken your motorola defy any worse then last time we spoke.

lol, yeah i've driven that rode a few time for work, but never ridden it.
lol yeah I had clear road when I was iding it, but i pulled over to get that pic, and as I had just got my gloves back on to carry on etc, about a dozen vehicles pass, led by a campervan going average 70-80 kph, All heading back home for "back to work Monday" I guess :D so was sitting behind those for a while till there was a nice spot to hop up a couple places, and then cleared up when I hit SH 2 :)

It was a nice afternoon to clear the mind and just enjoy the ride :D Tho i can't wait for my ride to Pamly in a couple weeks, will be a nice ride down there :)

This was a damn good ride. SH22 was in better condition than I have ever seen it - no trash lying about, no roadworks, no new seal and only one wiggle on a couple of stones. Great run.


EDIT: Just to clarify, this tag is NOT at the google given location of the marae itself. It's on SH22, not Marshall Road. Yell if you need more guidance.

This has to be one of the best tags I have chased - especially on a day like today - fine, cool, still - on roads seldom frequented by Mr Plod. Course, that doesn't really count since I never breaks the rules eh...:whistle:

OLD TAG: As it says, Jim Barnett Reserve. It's on Waotu South Road, a little south of Arapuni. Accessed from Lake Arapuni Rd which is an excellent ride in itself. A wood pigeon came and had a peep at me just after I arrived. Yum.

NEW TAG: It's a bit out in the sticks, this one...coughcough. Between Kihikihi and Putaruru, on a road named after the oldest dam on the Waikato River. Which just happens to be one of the finest sweepy roads in the district. Best ridden to from the Kihikihi end. To truly appreciate the road you really need to go at 140ish. So of course, that counts all of us lot out dunnit? But nice anyway even if you do obey all the rules (like me). :innocent:

To this end, I have retrieved awa's last tag and set a new one - this in a place that I think befits a final tag. Round the east side of Kawhia Harbour (Harbour Road if you don't already know) is a wonderful quiet place that for some reason, has always felt restful to me.

So here it is. If anyone can be bothered continuing the game, please feel free. But if nobody can be arsed, then at least the tag is in a nice place.

I don't know that it had so much "run it's course" as that some of the recent tags were difficult to find if one isn't fully familiar with the area (unlike your latest). Without going back through the thread, I seem to recall a number of people calling dibs on tags that they then never went and collected. For some reason (weather? Economy?) it seems there's been less activity in general this year. The BOP tag game was also stalled last I looked. I think the game could tick along albeit slowly. However if this is the end, then I won't worry about heading out that way at all, and will leave it to its final resting place.

(Which is not to say that I am otherwise calling dibs on the tag)

A pity. I'm only up in the Waikato twice per year, and never had any difficulty in finding the tags. I think that perhaps people weren't reading the clue that should be given with the photo.

However, it appears that similar things are happening all over the place with fewer tags being found. I recently moved the Otago Tag after it sat for 6 months. Perhaps it is because the most interesting tags have already been done and its harder to think of new ones.

I knew where the tag was when it was first put up. It was a question of finding a convient time to collect the same.

I have an old B & W photo of my CT1 175 Yamaha parked about that same place. Building was wee bit different back then.
I had been refused service in the Tirau pub, rode out to Oko and got refused at their bottle store as well. My mate took the photo while I was inside trying my best to act old enuf to buy up. . :laugh:

I only just sussed this out now after spending the afternoon riding on the other side of the river. I stopped right there a week ago on the Metzeler run too. Might be an excuse for a mid-week ride :niceone:
