It’s tough out there and dangerous.....
on on the way home, needed fuel for jalopy
while bowser did it’s thing I made a couple of observations.
one guy parked 5 foot away from pump. Can’t drive.
one guy stopped just before the pump I was using, he had lined up he middle of the car with the concrete and was attempting to climb it, I was like WTF!
he looked at me as if it was my fault. Yeah wife in passenger seat, kid on his knee. All in a Suzuki Swift full of shit in the back. She rolled in to by ciggies.
one bird had a tee shirt on, same image as Jellywrestlers icon. There was at least 1 frog definitely. Far Canal, Going to be hard to erase that image.
another guy almost ploughed his SUV into the guy who had attempted the concrete jump. F$&k he shouted, obvious he didnt see the Suzuki swift.
another bird rolled her rolls into the shop to buy more food/fuel. She was a double decker of rolls.
there was the usual scum bag who parked outside the shops doors on NP painted signs. Looked suspicious, so I made sure he knew I was watching him, he moved on.
Another parked their car at one of the pumps then wondered off to visit the Burger King dietician delights of burgers.
pulling away from the station, there was a race to see who could get ahead to the stationary queue which is akl traffic.
i still don’t know how other people live. Maybe I was the only taxpayer there at the time?
flogged=borrowed or stolen or sold to some unsuspecting person

So got diagnosed with a stupid condition last year. Went public (dumb) and finally got a treatment plan this week. Basically I have to not eat pretty much every food under the sun for a few months.
Thankfully Mrs Autech came through with some good shit from the supermarket to ease the pain of cutting out gluten, egg, dairy etc, but I could murder a mince and cheese pie and its only been a few days.
Can drink bourbon at least thank fuck.

Yes, I know it's not Friday. Never mind.
A letter arrived from the BNZ this morning.
We're replacing your old trusty Classic VISA card with our Advantage VISA card, as part of our card simplification process.
"We understand that it may inconvenience you".
Account Fee: $15 per half year raised to $20 per half year.
Additional or Joint Card Fee: $1.50 per half year raised to $6 per half year.
Purchase and Cash Advance Interest Rates: Unchanged (at 20.95% and 22.95% p.a.)
So , in our case, fee income increased from $16.50 per half year to $26 per half year. For no additional benefit.
But to "sweeten the deal", they'll waive the fee increase for 6 months.
Well, that's jolly kind of them.
Buzzards.
Where's the phone number for the Commerce Commission ?

I know this so well......
you cant hurt their feelings or insult their intelligence (or lack of it)
but they can not turn up, damage parts/gear take time off, take hours in the shithouse on the phone. Not wear safety gear.
aparantly you have to have meetings to discuss and record it.
Give them several chances to redeem any issues....
and if they leave there a numerous others available to take their place.
You will grind your teeth.
trust me I know.
one of the reasons why I ride with some others, usually longer rides, to get away from THEM, with like minded people

100% agree along with the paper trail
sum up your ear bashing from your boss in a email back to him.
titled just to clear up the process you now want me to follow when an employee doesn't adhere to company or industry safety policies in the future.
the other thing you need to do is get in first so after you give the guy the verbal for his ppe etc get what it was about on record as an email or near miss etc before he millennial whinges about his feelings getting hurt about having to follow the rules.
The best way to get people to do PPE or other stuff is peer pressure if someone is not following the rules tell the rest they will have to sit through the boring 2 hour to 1/2 day safety coarse of lecture re-education as a few of the team are not towing the line.
A few companies have tried this with drug test failures in logging so the whole crew has to sit through the course when a member of the team fails, they have had dramatic improvements.

Dig out the legislation and cut and paste it. It will imply that he will be liable, not you. You doing your job is protecting him. Him not supporting you is tantamount to endorsing rule breaking.
See what he thinks of that.
Copy his boss. Suggest perhaps they would like to choose someone else who will ignore transgressions which will make things easier. Until worksafe show up.
Or would they like to support you to do the role.

Dangerous as others have stated record EVERYTHING, dates, times, how many warnings you gave the tosser and informed your supervisors.. They should be backing you up aqs it is in their best interest, and the companies, to do so. Email the Dept head and cc the company boss. If part of a bigger corporation the CEO as well. Things usually start to happen quickly when a CEO is notified I've found. Just cc though not a direct email. A few rectums will tighten down the chain as soon as they see that. Also ring WorkSafe and without giving details of the outfit you work for. explain you are the Health and Safety Officer of your company then explain what happened and ask for suggestions to remedy the situation. WorkSafe is there to help outfits to get up to compliance as well as ping those that don't don't comply.
When I did a Health and Safety course by a WorkSafe instructor, for the same job you are doing now, the instructor gave all the attendees his bussiness card for this exact pickle you are in.
Good luck.

NO, DO NOT contact the CEO. Can’t tell you how many self righteous Nazis that cc email the CEO every time their knickers in a twist. (It’s a boomer/Gen X thing)
That is if the CEO Executive PA bothers to alert him/her on your email...may just end up in junk mailbox....
They will only see you as trouble and an annoyance & you will undermine the direct managerial line above you.
And trouble employees tend to get rinsed.
Respect the communication pathways which are in place for a reason.
If you feel your direct manager is incapable to deal with your complaint then explain to him that you need to escalate the issue to the next ladder and then do so.
Also keep your local HR manager copied in on the correspondence - they will ensure due diligence, due & timely process & fair play is taking place on your direct manager/s.
Keep everything in email & backup your emails to a USB (not just to your work computer).

That is if the CEO Executive PA bothers to alert him/her on your email...may just end up in junk mailbox.....Darling it works and I've done it a number of times. The thing is to get those further down the line to take notice. It works. Even telephoned them directly. Had the opposite happen as well It's called "rocking the boat" when no one in your direct chain of command takes notice. Some folk just don't have the guts to do it.
You see personnel health and safer is a big responsibility to take on. It's no tea party. Most folk will shy away from taking up that position in a company. Good on Dangerous for taking it up.
You better get or your Boomer hatred. If it wasn't for us you wouldfn't be alive:bash:

What steps had you taken before you contacted the CEO?
This is the defining point.
- Did you get HR involved?
- Did you consult with a colleague or mentor?
- How long was the process of back and forth with your direct manager?
- Was the matter so serious that it was incapacitating your ability to carry out your work?

And trouble employees tend to get rinsed in “restructures”.
Respect the communication pathways which are in place for a reason.
If you feel your direct manager is incapable to deal with your complaint then explain to him that you need to escalate the issue to the next ladder and then do so.
Some pearls of wisdom there.
Also keep your local HR manager copied in on the correspondence - they will ensure due diligence, due & timely process & fair play is taking place.
But I'll call "Bullshit" on that. Never seen it happen. Fair play is NOT their brief :(
Keep everything in email & backup your emails to a USB (not just to your work computer).
And again very good advice. Keep a private copy of everything on a separate device that is not company owned

I have to agree with you there, I have been a recent witness to such and event (at another company).....
The 2 WORKERS - yes they actually cared for the work they put out and made an effort to improve things for those around them.
Got the heave ho, out the door. Cost cutting and all that from Covid...(yeah right - panic because they think there will be downturn-not so far)
Couple of weeks pass, then middle management finds out who was doing all the work, tells me they regret giving them the push (a lot)
Upper management wont accept it as they don't see what is actually happening, or care, only if they are affected.
Now they are going to replace them with new people (this is about the tenth time)
now I am waiting to train more people....:shit:
the useless ones are still there

Another thing that can be done is create a paper form to record what ppe an individual has been issued. At the top is the company name and department the individual works in, sign on date persons full name, employee no. if the comp issues one, Keep them in a folder split up into the various departments the company is split up in that location.
Create a list of all the ppe the individual is issued like:
Safety glasses/googles
Safety gloves
Overalls usually a couple/three sets because for dry cleaning rotation. With disposable ones held in stores and issued as and when needed
Other safety clothing such as Fuoro vests. A half dozen marked and held for visitor use and can be of a different colour then the workers ones.
And what ever other gear needs to be issued to that person to carry out there job, such as serial numbered windy drills.
Ear defenders. Get a brand/model you can buy ear cup hygiene kits for. A box of ear plugs was kept in each department and at the workplace entrance.
Breathing masks. With box disposable ones in the departments or issued from stores as and when needed
To the right have a column date issued and date returned if it needs to be such as the windy drill. A column for the persons intials to varify they have been issued the kit.
Down the bottom have and area for their full signature, Date signed on to the company and date sighed off. A signature of the stores person receiving the compulsory returned items. This was mainly just the the tools and overalls. Smelly, used safety boots, tattered gloves have no need to be kept. If a person was only at the the company for only a month or less they had to return their boots. These came in handy to issue to visitors temporally.
Get HR to have a line on there signing on and off forms to have a line for ppe/tool issue/return.
Worked a treat in my previous work place. Stores kept the forms/folder in a safe place and issued the kit. Give the person a docket to go the likes of Blackwoods and buy the boots on account to ensure try are comfortable and fit properly. Have a set price, we had $75 which covered a wide range because of the trade discount. We got nice soft shoaled John Bull steel caps with ankle padding for that. If the person wanted something more expensive they payed the balance. Make an allowance for extra dosh for those with a rather large shoe size. Also if the boots are uncomfortable the issue is theirs not the Companies. The person has to give the receipt to stores once the boots are ordered so accounts can match up the purchase with the monthly billing. We had a policy to replace safey boots every 12 months or when the person can show physically show the the boots are fucked. Different department wore out boots more than others. The same went for overalls. Safety glasses/ gloves etc were replace on a one to one basis through stores. The Welding/General Engineering shop was the worse because of hot metal being trod on and dealing with a lot of steel/ali product manufacturing.
Later on we had a thing called The Vault. This was off site online database used by Stores, H&S and HR of to record individuals and incidents. The Company could hire different modules if needed and is charged a monthly or yearly fee depending on the contract. There are various access classes to access different features/modules. Users were given usernames and passwords. We were forced to use it to record ppe issue as well which it was never designed for or had a module for. Being an online application when the the site went off line or the companies internet connection went tits up you couldn't access it. The paper record was kept to cover these eventualities and worked far better than the database as you could alter it to suite your current and middle management were control freaks wrt using The Vault.
Any way I hope that give you some ideas Dangerous.

Oh I almost forget. Have a foam rubber base ball bat handy so you can hit the idiots with it. Does no harm but makes you feel a lot better. Keep it under the stores counter so they can use it as well. Show the new arrivals it when they first sign in and tell them what it is for Health and Safety reasons :) Tinsel can be handy as well as its had to rget rid of easily, easily visible by co-workers and they can laugh at them.

Another thing that can be done is create a paper form to record what ppe an individual has been issued. At the top is the company name and department the individual works in, sign on date persons full name, employee no. if the comp issues one, Keep them in a folder split up into the various departments the company is split up in that location.
Create a list of all the ppe the individual is issued like:
.
You can create this list on or on the back of your pre start/tool box talk form, why;
1) Pre start/toolbox form is a recognised document with Worksafe.
2) Form contains individuals signatures.
3) Can address the list in morning pre starts, quick count & check on safety gear, less double handling of information (not going back to the office to create your own excel sheet then approaching guys to sign it separately).
4) By doing this when you identify an individual does not have the correct PPE gear then put that down as a HAZARD. “Slips trips and falls- no work boots”. This will cover your arse and be a platform to address these issues to everyone prior to work commencing.
BTW nice novel mate.

BTW nice novel mate.Cheers. Being a Health and Safety Officer is a thankless task. Department managers should be backing them up. It's in their best interest to do so. In an outfit with 6-7 departments scattered in various locations it is impossible for the H&S guy/gal to check everyone. Also the H&S guy/gal generally has it real job to get on with.
All Dangerous should need to do is tell the guy he needs to wear safety shoes/boots then report him to the department manager and the department manager just take action to sort it out. The guy infringing is not working for Dangerous but the department he is working in.
The work place should have a sign up as you enter it or the work area that it is a hazardous area also and ppe is required before entering.
Some do it just for the extra dosh and are mostly useless.

I fucking give up... ok so one of my rolls is health n safety... so for the third time I asked a worker to take his jandles... sorry I mean sneakers off and put safety boots on right... well he lost it, apparently Im some sort of cunt nobody likes and he told me several times to fuck off... as if Im bloody deff and didnt here the first time...
well he works for the same company so I bleated to the boss ... hey its the boss that will tune the fuck out of me if this guy is caught by a hierarchy, cos I didnt sort it... BUT NO instead the boss tears me a new one cos Im not to police the sites we run but II should have sat said fuck face down and discussed politely how come he wont wear safety boots... is it cos he finds them uncomfortable, is it the colour of them, are the laces to tight... WHAT THE FUCK AM I A PSYCHAIST NOW ...
Why oh why are people so god damn fucking precious these days, softer than a limp jelly fish... fuck its sad... the worlds fucked, maybe covid here to sort the week out...
I dabble in Psychology within work settings.
Its clear to me your workplace think you’re a cunt - nothing to do with safety.
Quite a toxic environment to be in.
I’ve done a similar case study.
If they respected & liked you they wouldn’t pull this BS on you & your boss would have backed you up - that’s the god honest truth.
My advice
A)Befriend them on Monday morning, take them & boss out for coffee - good neutral environment to have a calm conversation. Use collaborative language “we, us, as a team”. Ie “we all want to get back to our families”. Doesn’t hurt to use emotive language “when you do this it upsets myself and let’s the team down”. Sit down right next to the perpetrator - uncomfortably close, this should minimise any outbursts from this person.
B)When you call these individuals encourage small talk before you address work matters (foreplay) “how’s the kids how’s the wife”.
C)Every morning hand him something but say nothing, just put something out in front of him to grab like a hammer. It’s a subconscious trick to assert dominance & respect but effective with repetition. In the first few days he may look at you weird, over a week he will reach out and grab the item unknowingly being submissive to you. This sets you a platform with him. (Many more other tricks to do btw).
D)Don’t be a cunt.

I've worked in many many workplaces (my line of work beings be into different businesses every week), I've found the HnS people that talk common sense and act like they don't like doing HnS do fine.
The ones that actually enjoy all the fucked HnS shit we are forced to do are universally hated by all.

I do get a bit pissed off when I have been in the workplace for 53 years in various different roles - some quite hazardous, others not so - without ever sustaining a serious injury, because I took responsibility for my own actions, and some mid level H&S management snot tells me I am doing things wrong, when their experience is all book learning with no real experience.
But I do draw the line at welding while wearing jandals.

I was HnS Nazi with my wife over the weekend, did some house renovations recently and we were getting rid of all the old timber with nails all sticking up everywhere. I bought her some safety boots before we started renovations and I hounded her for a good 5 minutes as she was refusing to put them on while moving the wood. Also didn't help she was wearing my sexy blue Airwalks which are several sizes too big for her and I wanted to keep them clean lol.

Best method was to not let it loose once we squashed it. We've failed that so we need to squish it again then clamp down extra hard on the border measures to take the human error element out of it as much as possible.
Then get kiwis buying into masks and contact tracing properly so that if there are any other flare ups, they can be knocked back without shutting an entire city down. In NZ we can't even line up shopping trolleys in bays properly though so there's no way as a society we could manage this. Sad but true.

So when Judith Collins husband exports those entire Kauri logs claiming they are sculptures to China to be made into furniture despite the law being that unprocessed native logs cant be exportedis he creating Jobs in NZ?
or exporting jobs attempting to use a loophole.
or how is it Collins company formally called Orivita
Was not charged over them cutting off the gas line while illegally logging swamp Kauri for export.
So what happened exactly?
https://www.nzherald.co.nz/business/news/article.cfm?c_id=3&objectid=11923687
In an NZX update Refining NZ said it expected the revenue impact would be of the order of $10m to $15m.
In September 2017, a digger damaged part of a 168km jet-fuel line which caused tens of millions of dollars in lost business and repairs, grounded dozens of flights and caused havoc on the supply chain. While locals claimed that the damaged land was only used for grazing, it became quickly apparent that it happened while digging for swamp kauri.
And while the contractor was seemingly self-employed, Oravida's name soon came up as they were known to dig for kauri in the Ruakaka area, contrary to Collins'claims at the time.
A full inquiry would confirm that Oravida was involved.
The strange case of Oravida and the rupturing of the Ruakaka jet fuel line:
Radio New Zealand reported this morning that an independent inquiry has concluded that an Oravida associated company was implicated in the rupturing of the oil line that caused something of a crisis for Auckland’s jet fuel supply.
Fuel pipeline rupture: Inquiry tells companies to invest in infrastructure:
It established a 16-tonne digger was working on the Ruakaka property between 26 and 28 August 2014. The digger had been delivered there so a contractor could look for swamp kauri logs.
Local sawmill Kauri Ruakaka Ltd (KRL), at the time called Oravida Kauri Ltd, owned the digger.
Collins (who was the Energy Minister at the time of the leak, just icing on the cake) was connected to the company which was digging for the swamp kauri and exporting it to China in questionable condition while making very large donations to the National party.
National gets $50k donation from Oravida founder
The National Party has received another $50,000 from the head of milk exporter Oravida, which was once caught up in a conflict of interest claim.
Shi's company, which also exports wine, seafood, freshwater and meat to China, has close ties to National. Former National Prime Minister Jenny Shipley is the chairwoman and director David Wong-Tung is the husband of Revenue Minister Judith Collins.
Oravida gave another $30,000 to National
Stone Shi's company Oravida donated a further $30,000 to the National Party late last year, taking the company's total support in recent years to over $80,000.
The records show National also received big donations from Hobsonville resident Xiao Miao Fan who gave a total of $63,500 last year.
Oravida's $56,600 golf photo with John Key
The golfing photo of Oravida owner Stone Shi and Prime Minister John Key was the result of an up to $56,600 donation to the National Party.
Collins shrugs off Labour attacks
Justice Minister Judith Collins last night dismissed Labour claims that she had failed to tell Prime Minister John Key of further details about her dinner with a senior Chinese border control official [and with her friends and Oravida bosses Stone Shi and Julia Xu] last year.
The month before Ms Collins' trip, Ms Xu said that Oravida was experiencing difficulties getting milk into China after the Fonterra botulism scare and that the New Zealand Government could do more to engage with Chinese officials to help.

Economic
Our generation endured x2 of the 3 greatest global financial crises and pandemics as an emerging workforce.
We experienced the slowest economic growth than any other generation, this created challenges such as scarce employment & opportunity.
We will now inherit all of the failed business/pandemic debt (boomers are in retirement, Gen X are not far from it).
No chance at buying a home - salaries were 1/4 proportionate to the cost of a home (40’s-80’s). Currently houses are 1/10th of our salaries.
Lending opportunities have decreased, wages have not increased proportionate to inflation over the last 40 years. University education cost is now the highest it’s ever been proportional to income and we’re suffocated by student loan debt.
Societal
50% of all marriages end in divorce since the 21st century.
Higher % for relationships.
Meaning single parent homes massively increased since post WW2.
Bullying has increased exponentially with the introduction of social media.
Decline in societal morals and values and increase in crime and drug consumption.
Boomers grew up with the houses unlocked & Meth wasn’t as rampant.
Increase in domestic violence.
Health
Over represented in suicide & mental illness stats (depression etc).
Far greater than post WW2 stats.
More at risk to develop drug addictions (Alcohol, Meth).
More at risk of developing debilitating health conditions
Shorter forecasted life spans.
Those are just a few, research it can’t be bothered posting links.

But you were talking about how hard YOU have it in this century. I am simply pointing out that you have it pretty sweet really.
So you are now saying is it is the current pandemic and financial situation that you mean?
"Us Millennials have it tougher and the stats don’t lie.
We are disadvantaged in every aspect growing up in the 21st century."
Well, doesn't that currently apply to everyone and not just you millennials?
You have no idea how tough a recession can be yet.

So you are now saying is it is the current pandemic and financial situation that you mean?
I was simply stating that when you show documents that talk about recessions it both needs to be a current document for due diligence and one that reflects the current recession also.
As I stated from the start - Millennials have endured x2 of some of the greatest recessions. So it makes sense that you would provide info that reflect both not just one.
Well, doesn't that currently apply to everyone and not just you millennials?
Not exactly, the point is Millennials emerged into an economy riddled with debt which disadvantaged us from the front foot. Fore instance I was working a weekend job in my last years of college in 2008 and I was affected by job cuts. Now as a young corporate professional I feel the pinch.
Whereas boomers were likely retired or close to retirement (based on median age) during both 2008 & current recession.
You have no idea how tough a recession can be yet.
Really? I do, when have you ever experienced a full shut down (more or less global) for greater than x1 month? Not since the Spanish Flu which is well past your time.

when? I had to struggle through a recession in the mid to late eighties. There hasn't been anything even close to that since.

Boomers from 1946-1964. I was born in 64 so that made me 44 in 2008. So I am aware of exactly how good things have been this century.

None of has have experienced a pandemic shutdown before, most of the world included. But that is not the same as a recession.

I’m sure it was a struggle, but show me links that prove that the eighties recession was more severe than “The Great Recession” (2008) & current pandemic recession.
I was born in 64 so that made me 44 in 2008
You’re on the cusp so your age is not reflective of the median age of Boomers.
Also my point is that Boomers were well experienced in the economy when these hit.
Likely accumulated a great deal of wealth and security - whether some boomers were still working or retired in 2008.
Whereas we were starting out, taking first home mortgages, emerging into the workforce. Therefore we we were vulnerable and un-equipped to handle our first and one of the worst crises.
Remember that on the older spectrum of millennials - some would have been in their late 20’s.
but that is not the same as a recession
It is, refer the links I sent in prior posts.
To say that a global pandemic lockdown (including shutdown of the majority of our economy) has no link to a financial downturn is extremely ignorant and vacuous.

I remember the IRA bombing campaigns, 70's oil crisis (could only drive every second day), the miners strike, (that was shit!), school and hospital closures on a national scale, riot police on the city streets, having no money and no chance to climb the class ladder. Greenham common, Europe when it was East and West, mad cow disease (still can't give blood), British Leyland , Scottish and Welsh nationalism and the fire bombings, Windscale leaks and oil slicks.... Heaps more but can't be arsed, sun is shining.
None of it anything to do with me! I just went to work.

I am 100% confident millennials will take the global economy to new heights.
- We will improve how we communicate & delegate business. (Effective communication wasn’t a thing before)
- Increase the use of technology in business. (We are more adaptive to technology)
- Inject more innovation. (We are naturally more innovative, the worlds greatest leap in innovation was in recent years, boomers become very complacent with the “old ways”).
-Increase effective process mapping. (Note innovation point).

It's that time of the year again, fair weather riders bringing their bikes out of the shed and doing that first ride of the new season.
In the past few weeks, seen a few offs and some near misses. Rusty habits, slower responses than would be ideal. Dodgy apparel matched by dodgy riding.
This morning was somewhat typical of the problem we see each year.
Middle aged chap on a lovely ST1100 at the tyre pump that I walked past to go into servo shop. Complimented the lovely condition of the bike, got talking to him briefly. Turns out he'd only bought it recently and still getting used to it. Tyres old and grey, consistent with the line of bike having been unused for some time, the cracking to the extent where I wouldn't ride on them. Date code showed tyres 13 years old, so yep this bike had been sitting unused for a long time alright. Chap was adamant tyres ok, still plenty of tread left...it was obvious nothing I was gonna say would make any difference, so left him to it.
Hey, I was in trucker training mode anyway, that has its own challenges :devil2:

Yeah a few bikes out yesterday when I went on a wee ride. On some rather narrow, tight country back roads caught up with a chap riding along on a fully kitted out large capacity v-twin thingy, they all look the same. You know large crash bars, bags, high/wide handle bars and large screen. Of course the ensemble wouldn't be complete without tassles. The rider wearing sleak black leathers  Followed him for bit while he steered around the tight corners then zipped past on the XF650 on a bit of a straight. About 5/6kms down the road I stopped at an intersection and waited for him to show up. When he eventual got there I waved to him and he waved back to me with a smile on his face . Then we both went our merry ways both enjoying a nice outing on our machines.. Him towards Dannevirke and me to Pamly. Best run ever through the Saddle Road since last christmas with traffic skooting along at 60kph or more. No trucks you see ;)

That's what the generation before them said, and the generation before them, and before them and before them etc... and you sound just as dumb as them too. The economy needs to go in the opposite direction numbnuts, else there won't be much of an economy left for generations to come given that ramping up production will see us use more than the 1.7 sustainable planets we use each year. Your technological efficiency drive is going to destroy even more resources than we do at the moment. Maybe you found another planet down the back of the couch? More likely you're just another sucker that'll grow into being an even bigger sucker as the years go by, just as pretty much all of our forebears are and were... you kids ain;t no different in the slightest... that you think you are shows just how fucktarded your education has been to date.
Remember though, I love you, so does Jesus and Dave, so there is hope that you might not repeat our mistakes... albeit highly unlikely given the list of trite platitudes scribbled out above, because almost every generation before us had those goals given that you can actually see that implementation. Yet lo, the kids will reinvent the wheel and show the adults, who have far far far more experience in general, how to communicate and manage themselves effectively.
You're looking the wrong way, but that's ok, so is almost everyone else so no one will notice :killingme

Purchase is the easy bit. If the Motorcycle is registered to a person without a full license, they (an unlicensed rider) may (or may not) get caught out by a random reg check by patrolling plod if ridden on public roads ... or if stopped for a traffic offense. They usually know the owners details before the red & blues come on. Even with a licensed rider at the controls ... they can expect to be stopped if the registered owner has not got a full license.
I have never heard of anyone prevented from buying a motorcycle (privately or through a dealer) they weren't licensed to ride.
As for Insurance ... even that may vary. They may even sell you insurance ... even knowing under the terms and conditions of the insurance ... your claim will (may) not be accepted.

Wouldn't surprise me a dealership would turn you down, they don't need the bad press if it all goes wrong, ie 'XYZ Motorcycles sold killer bike to unlicensed rider'. But for the record I’m not trying to ride illegally. I want to have a track toy for open days.
Have a work vehicle and too busy to ride during the week. Just want something fun to open up on the track.
Yep I get that. But there's still some out there that think that ... if it sounds dodgy ... it must be.

Previously, a long time previously, when buying a bike from a dealer with whom I'd no previous contact I've been asked about my experience.
That was long before the introduction of OSH and their 20/20 hindsight.
The prospect of legal penalties of one sort or another probably causes a higher degree of caution among reputable dealers these days.
Of course, if you want a test ride they will want to see, and hold on to, your licence. And therein lies a problem.

But I suppose the dealer would wonder why I’m buying but not test riding (probably comes across more dodgy).

Does anyone know this friggin TIMMAY?
Walk into a bike shop with enough cash to buy what you want, they'll sell it to you. They're not responsible for anything that happens, and bike accidents/deaths get no press to worry about.
No idea why you would make a story up about more than one private seller rejecting you because of experience.

Public roads are just too dangerous these days.
I loose count on how many deaths I see on the local paper.
Ive narrowed my shopping list to the following:
- Harley sportster xr1200
- MV Agusta Brutale
- Ducati Diavel

Sorry to hear that, seems to be all too common for riders to attend mates funerals.
I have also shared similar unfortunate experiences.
Hence why I’ve been put off.
So I don’t think there’s anything pussy about riding on the track - I want to ride fast but not put others lives in danger (heavily minimise at least).
And cagers just don’t see bikes anymore - you can do anything and everything but you can’t stop an idiot behind a 1.5ton piece of metal.

Dean, I know a family that is related to the Gibb brothers, not one of them can sing for shit... Kudos on the chess reference though, I love me some chess.
Thread back on track, its not Friday night yet but anyone that complains about it not being evening can get fucked.
Why is it that no matter how hard to plan something, reiterate how important certain things are to the success of a job you turn up and that shits not done? It's always the stuff that's outside of your control that fucks ya. I am starting to understand why nefarious types want to rule the world in movies and cartoons, then you'd be able to drop cunts through a trap door for fucking up and not doing their job right.
Hotels - why stick the pool right in the middle of all the rooms then let peoples pet sperm scream in them until mid evening, some of us have had cunting days and just wanna relax.
Drivers - stop going slow as fuck on corners then speeding up to 110 on the straight bits when someone tries to overtake you, probably the same sort of people that let their kids shriek in a hotel pool.
Rain - Fuck off
Ford - Why are you bring the new Focus ST in as only auto?

...a couple of days ago I couldn't find the loppers...my wife and I both searched our large property...looking in trees, under trees, near trees...no loppers...yesterday I spent the whole day on hands and knees pulling the quickly growing weeds, just in case they were at ground level and hiding in the new growth...large parts of the property are now weed free...but no loppers...
...I had to go to town for supplies...having stocked up I proceeded to the car park...couldn't find my little red Toyota anywhere...nobody would pinch it so I did a tour of the carpark...then I remembered I didn't have the little red Toyota...I'd just recently replaced it with a slightly more powerful, white Toyota...I found it, eventually...

So you have a conversation with an older guy who says you don't have it hard!
Then you proceed to tell him that all the best technology and lifes luxuries didn't exist in his era?
Oh yeah, you really told him! Wow, you da man!
Thankfully the old codger could understand that I was saying his generation aka boomers just became hippies, smoked pot and did fuck all. (Doesn’t sound hard to me at all).
While us Millennials are responsible for revolutionising technology for the human race in the last 15 years - because we got off our arse and challenged ourselves & our minds in the pursuit of discovery and excellence.
If you have any trouble trying to understand anything else let me know and I will try dumb it down for you (probably let my 7 year old write it for you).

Shit I seriously thought Dean was a zoomer going by the fact he has not yet sat his full bike license.
Must have been too busy being super intelligent to get it. Its ok to suck at something Dean.
Funny story time, there's some quintessential boomer comments that I just love.
Was washing my car the other day and thought to myself, damn where's a boomer to tell me "ooohhh you can wash mine next hehehehe" afterwards. Sadly there were none around at that moment, fast forward a few hours and I'm at the physio having a yarn with the boomer manager, whilst discussing how nice the weather was and what I had been up to that day I said "went out and washed my car cause it was so nice."
On que she goes "oooohhh you can wash mine too". Classic, day made.
I was doing an install at a car dealership this week, instead of grabbing a coffee I rock in at 8am with my zero sugar Monster in my fist, bracing myself for what I knew was about to come 4 steps into the door the boomer salesmen goes "ohhh don't drink that shit, that shit will kill ya!"
Day made, don't ever change boomers as this millennial loves ya.

Bullshit, you're just the consumers driving the evolution of technology for greater profit.
The closest thing to revolution achieved by millenials is putting soy milk in coffee. Gullible generation.

Aaaand, how many advances have you offered human race? Personally.
That's right, fuck all. You waste oxygen at roughly the same rate as 99.999% of the planet. If the metric for success is as you yourself claim, then you need to shut your fucking hole!

You seem to be confused, not to mention astoundingly immature. Unless, of course, you're aged about seventeen.
Bill Gates is a boomer. Steve Jobs too was a boomer. Linus Torvalds is generation X.
Given that millennials can be forty now, they may well be giving us new toys but what you describe as "millennial technology" would seem to be to the credit of the boomers you love to malign.
And no, I'm not a boomer.

Hey, As a dinosaur from the previous millennium, I'm still 'making do' with a 250 - and loving it - the wee DR-Z is a great commuter and daily hack - never fails to put a smile on my dial.
But you're right, some of the LAMS options are really goodWent for a ride on a KTM 390 Duke in the weekend. Hadn't ridden a bike on over a year and that was the first time on the road in about 5 years I think.
All I can say is, yes there are some excellent LAMS options out there, that bike was fucking exceptional, honestly felt like it wanted to lift a wheel out of the twisties. Great brakes and it was really nice through the twisties. If all you wanted was to carve corners that's the bike for you.
Now I'm on tradme looking at Vitpilens and KTM 690s, pretty sure wife would notice it in the garage though :D

I rock up to the pub for an after work drink.
Old codger sitting on a barstool looks at me while I’m ordering a drink.
We strike up a conversation which ends up him telling me us millennials don’t have it hard.
Oh boy did he say that to the wrong person.
Maybe he was secretly from KB - he had all the hallmarks (boomer, dull & slightly on the spectrum).
Maybe it was TDL.
He proceeds with the: “Back in my day” BS.
I proceeded to educate him that all of life’s luxuries that he experiences/uses NEVER existed in his era. They were too busy smoking pot if you ask me. His nice car - millennial technology, I Phone - millennial technology and so on.
He didn’t seem to like an outspoken intelligent young man giving it back to him.
So he gets his Karen of a wife who looks like she came out of an 70’s Pall Mall advertisement with a face like a bulldog chewing a wasp.
Just as dull as he was, resorting to personal & racially motivated insults because she can’t contribute anything intelligent to the conversation.
The look on their faces when I told them I have more intelligence and class than their entire South Island gene pool.
Naturally I saw myself out the door.
I need another drink.

Well fuck,
The missus calls me while I’m in a meeting and tells me there’s a lady scoping out our house.
Looking through windows, sneaking around etc.
(We have a full Arlo security system).
I log in to my Arlo app and sure enough I see the lady on the automated motion recording.
A bloody heifer of a woman.
Like if you played bull rush with her you would go for the ankle tap.
The type Bonez or Drew would take home after a night out (sober).
I carried on the meeting with my Arlo feed running live on my phone.
My colleague hears a rustle so we look down and see a guys head pop out from hiding under my camera (the woman must of told him the cameras blind spots).
I then yell out at him through my microphone “OI CUNT” “HELLO” “I CAN SEE YOU CUNT”.
He then tries to turn off my front camera.
I get on the buzzer to the boys in blue. Tax payer money well spent - they were at the house within 2minutes. They sent some big burly lads.....
No one was spotted, must of been me on the mic that scared them off. But the neighbours reported to the officer that a bunch of suspicious people were hanging around the driveway.
Anyways I live in the fucking hood.
Moral of the story is a good security camera system is worth its weight in gold.
It’s not until shit hits the fan do you not regret spending 1.2k on a HD system.
I recommend Arlo wireless Pro.
