Also, for wanpo-san and his girly, I present a panel I did for a release of one of the latest Narutard chapters~
This guy, what a Narutard ;p Nah, nice colouring I'll be sure to pass it on. A little disappointed with the latest story arc aye. I think the author's kinda gotten sick of writing but is forced to continue because of the popularity. Same with Bleach, but the quality hasn't dropped as much.

Went out for another spin during our lunch-break today, this time with Wanpo riding an R1. He was pretty quick through the twisties on the CBR, quicker again on the GSXR, but he was much quicker than both of them on the R1, and looked more comfortable with it. I think we'll have to make a habit of these lunch-break rides to break up the monotony of the otherwise normal workday.

Far out, that thing was ridiculous. No matter what speed I was going, it felt 30km/h under that. I instantly turned into a cock upon straddling that bike. It was quick and accelerated HARD, but it felt like it was trying a lot more than the Gixxer/CBR (Engine started vibrating and it felt like it really didn't want to pull from down low in the RPM.)
And the noise... THE NOISE. Had aftermarket carbon pipes on it. I actually had to put earplugs in half way through.
I think I'm still tending towards the CBR, but I hadn't made my mind up about the CBR two years back, things would probably be different.
Edit: Booked in a 2008 ZX10R for a test ride tomorrow. Will see how it compares to the bunch. And unless I fall in love with it, will be going by after work to pick up my Silver 2008 CBR100RR. (Will be giving GW a long reach around on the ride out there, will be the longest pillion ride I've ever done)

you are making it sound as if we can blame our bikes for transforming us into wankers by swinging a leg over it... personally my need for speed, especially through twisties, comes from the fact that i don't get out riding enough so sometimes when i do I get carried away a little
also.. ever thought that maybe its because you are becoming more comfortable with riding biker/better bikes and also repeating the same road repeatedly within a short time frame... so riding them harder as more confident? maybe should go and re-test the CBR?
wanpo
9th February 2011, 15:43
Yeah, I would have thought along the same lines of the familiarity thing, but the R1 made me feel like a shit rider, I was pretty much doing nothing, it felt like I was going slow and it was still faster than I had gone around on the other two. I will be taking the CBR for a short ride before handing over the monies tomorrow.

Sweet as was just a thought, well hope the CBR feels as good as it did the first time!

Damn your logic, are you a Vulcan?
But no seriously, we did briefly discuss familiarity today but there was a real difference between how he went on the R1 vs the other bikes that I don't think could just be put down to familiarity with the route we took. Regardless of each bike's performance, it seems that his heart is firmly set on the CBR.

Yeah I agree the story has lost it's oomph, I still like it and it's still far more diverse than Bleach where Kubo is literally too lazy to draw half of the backgrounds these days, but both are being drawn out for the sake of money if you ask me. They can do whatever they want and people will still watch/read it.
I can firmly believe that bikes can turn you into an asshole. I had a 2008 ZX-10 as a loaner for about a week and I was a bit of a tosser on it. I didn't even like the bike that much, although that could be why I was abusing its power, to make something I didn't really like fun. I don't know.
I'm happy with my big ol' 800cc elephant!
Looking forward to seeing the new CBR ;)

Hmmm, how to explain without becoming a case of TL;DR? Ok, Star Trek's Vulcans are known in pop-culture for their race's adherence to the purging of all emotion and following a path of pure logic. "Damn your logic" is something an emotional human might say to a highly logical Vulcan.
Anyhoo it was really in reference to your point that Wanpo might be getting faster due to familiarity with the route rather than one bike performing better than another. Quite a logical observation.
If you were geekier you would have got the reference and I assure you it would have been funny! No, really! Watch some Star Trek! Actually no, don't. It's kinda lame.

thank you - i understood that it referred to my logic of the familiarity, but needed the first part of that explanation for it to make any sense... clearly I'm not up with pop-culture! And i am not complete devoid of emotion  ... but have to admit I'm overly logical
and there is no way I'm starting to watch star trek now, I've successfully avoid it until now, and have no intention of changing that!

Those crazy fuel-efficient Hondas, I get about 15-16km/L assuming my normal daily commute and a once per week twisty ride.
However I'll bet your fuel consumption decreases as your confidence with the bike's performance increases.

Off to Murder Burger for some fantastic burgers, bumping into ol Sarge (KB'er you younguns wouldn't know). Wanpo brings his new wheels, and refuses the mandatory offers of reacharounds, et al. He says his goodbyes after the burgers, something about having other places to be (as if our company wasn't good enough huh?). We were actually very fortunate to have any burgers after Wanpo tried to circulate the city before going from Queen St to Ponsonby. No really... a short route turned into roads never travelled, and he wasn't sure if we would make it out alive. Toto and I were staring our fates straight in the face, wondering who's traits Wanpo had inherited (Toto lost, or my "shortcuts"). Wanpo said shortcut... I won.
Toto and I avoided Single Awareness Day by hooking up for a lovely moonlit ride (no wait... it pissed down, so there were clouds - but only for a few min) to Wellsford. Since it had rained, and he had nefarious ideas about visiting places after dark we scrapped ideas for Mangawhai or Waipu and reversed direction back down 16, Peak, Old North back to the city, detouring to the aforementioned Sharry for a night time raid pressie giving. I was most impressed Toto actually managed to get to her house correctly this time... me thinks he could be improving? No... probably not. :weird:
One Tree Hill visited with some grass/dirt track excursions, Toto said he was hungry (only what, 4 hours after dinner?), so I knew a 24/7 place in the city with scrummy pizzas and burgers, so more shit talking and eating.
Then we went home. Separately.

Gale_wolfs would be used to straight line flying only and get there quickly.
I would probably be flying a different version every time and be eccentric and fly an auto-gyro as a runabout.
Sharry would be missing a light.
Wanpo would have very uncomfortable seats.
TOTO would be mistaken for a flying grasshopper (green)

Well chaps, with all this talk about getting new bikes - I guess that time of the year has come! Haha!
In true bike-whore fashion I am in the market for another bike, not sure what I actually want this time, usually I have a firm grasp on what I'd like but this time the ballpark is completely open.
Naked, Adventure, Sports, Supersports, StupidSports, I'm open to everything - I'm even gonna go for a test ride on a busa to see how it stacks up in the handling and heat department. Then I might move onto something more realistic like a Sprint circa 06, 07 - but I think for that type of bike the clipons may be raised a bit too high for my liking.
I had a Transalp as a loan bike the other day, apart from having heat shunted to my thighs and knees on a very warm morning, I actually really liked it. It was so nimble! Unfortunately it's not so great for lanesplitting though with wide and high bars and mirrors. It even sounded pretty good too!
Wanpo how tall are you? I might have a look at a CBR1000 also if it's rideable for my height (i'm all leg).
wanpo
25th February 2011, 14:08
I'm probably 6'1"ish CBR is definitely a comfortable size, As far as I remember, the ZX10 was the worst fitting for a taller chap and the CBR/R1 were the best. the GSXR I remember my knees resting against a outcropping of fairing.
zeocen
25th February 2011, 15:08
Hmm, same height as me - maybe I should look into it! The CBR600 was definitely the most comfortable for me, I kinda wanna wait until the CBR600F drops but I don't think I can wait that long knowing me. :/
Are you liking the CBR Wanpo?
gijoe1313
25th February 2011, 15:20

Eyeing up a Hornet 600 also if the CBR600F takes too long. Still not sure if I wanna go back to handlebars or not though. Clipons are certainly better for filtering.

Mah mighty VFR800.
Truth be told unless I go to a Triumph Sprint I won't find another bike as good as the VFR, but as a bike whore, it doesn't register properly in my head and I will most likely buy a worse off bike that's less practical :D

zeocen
25th February 2011, 20:41
It's Pearl Black! The best colour.
My old man's bike was waiting on a part so he took himself and my mum to Paeroa races in the weekend. Even he and his mighty Kawasaki fanboyism couldn't fault it and both favoured the plush ride over the ZX14.
If your BF is interested and is over 25 he's more than welcome to take it for a spin :)

Eh, no problemo. I can totally understand that! :) :niceone:
Speaking of, I've been sitting on bikes a lot today, was killing time while Scorpie got serviced. Went to Holeshot and Cyclespot (after getting that balaclava I've been meaning to get for friggin' ages from Cycletreads). General impressions of bikes:
SV650 - Most comfortable, but not the sportiest thing in the world. Practical.
FZ6R - Quite comfy, liked the semi-sport feel of it. Tasty styling.
CBR600 - Quite comfy, best of the supersports. Light feeling.
Hornet 600 - Like the newer styling. Very comfortable position, what I'm used to.
Daytona 675 - Still desperately in love with the styling. Not too tall (surprising!), rested on the tank rather than the wrists.
Ninja 650 - Surprisingly non-sporty riding position - comfortable. Nice styling, but doesn't move me.
R6 - Very forward position, but stable. Quite hard on the wrists.
Gixxer - Right out, I felt like I was tipping over forwards... and it was too tall.
Thought I saw Steel Phoenix this morning, waiting outside the Yamaha shop on the corner of the Tristram Rd offramp. Wasn't sure at first but then I saw the Scorpio and the Batman t-shirt, figured it was her, so gave her a wave :wavey:
I thought it was you! Hah! :woohoo: Yes, Scorpie needed her 11000km service and a new WOF. They gave me a loan Scorpio (in blue, lol) to zoom about the North Shore while I was waiting - quite an experience to go from a 2010 model to a 2007, and a completely different rider setup.

she was sick as a parrot when she couldn't ride
no social life, no bikers to mix with,
ditsy as a blonde can be be,

Good ride everyone, rubber side down and it seems we massacred the local suicidal population of rabbits and possums last night. Great to see a new face come with Interceptor (though probably wondering what loony bin he wandered into).
Interesting to know what happened to zeocen, he pumpkined on us an no-one knew why! I saw him sidle up to me on the left and then he roared off!
Daikoku was good eats and the ride out to Port Waikato was fun. Would have gone via more twisties, but knew that steel_phoenix also turns into a pumpkin at a certain time!
I hit some rather big juicy bugs that left interesting patterns on my visor and gear! Oh, I also knew that Gremlin would be going through some deja vu when he had to stay behind TOTO on his ginny!
My girl found this ride more forgiving on her posterior, but lamented the lack of visuals due to evening! However, this was more than made up for when she noticed how clear the stars were up above, away from the bright lights of Dorkland.

I feel kinda bad about leaving the Toto and Gremlin behind... sorries, guys.
Picked up a lot of bugs, need to clean my visor and my pants! Yay bugsplat...
I was pushing my limits pretty hard last night - I was very, very cold for most of the ride up until we left Port Waikato, then I think my body gave up on the feeling cold thing - you know when you go swimming in a really cold pool? Like that (time for investment in some cold gear, I think). Funnily, I was fine up until we hit the motorway, then something hit the wall and I started to lose feeling in my hands and thighs (only had feeling in my indexes and thumbs by the time I got home)... Concentration held until I got home, though... Thanks to CNUCK (Interceptor?) for tailing me, the lights in my mirror really helped.
Went home to very worried boys, and got the 'are you sure you want the gixxer?' lecture, a.k.a. 'we're worried that you'll wrap yourself around a tree with a big sportsbike'. <_< Oh, by the way, am totally going to be fine leaving her in the garage... yes, really... yeah, right? :P

You did well last night (except when you almost merged into the side of a car on the motorway, and crossing the centre line a couple of times)
I didn't want to make you feel pressured into going faster when the R1 shot by you, so I took mercy and flew by you the next chance I had. 'twas an enjoyable ride, though sorry to hear about your post-ride woes Tracey. Any joy finding your access card, and what happened to your smuggler, some buttmunch tried to pull it off the pillion seat lock?
Zeo, give me a yell when you want your packbag. Don't forget it's still got your wet weather trou in it.

Bahahaha buttmunch is right!
Rung around and couldn't locate the card, so going to have to get it deleted off the system (so no-one can break into my place) and paid for a new one!!
And yeah, looks like someone tried to pull the smuggler off at the back - it was pulled up at the back by about 3-4 cms and that meant it was locked on at the front cause it was twisted in the catch
BUT fixed it today, so all going well, it should be okay! YAY!! :woohoo: means i can still ride this weekend!! yeeehaaa! :scooter:

Seriously thinking of hornet 600 because of how amazingly light it is. Not sure if I will look too big on it or not!

NO NO, these boys never had one... but before you started meeting biker guys, (especially from on here), surely you at least knew of the image of a biker guy being hot and at least a little bit of a bad boy?!!

Do you ride it every day? If not, or it's just left out where any buttmunch can get at it then, if you ever need to, you're welcome to store it at my place in a locked garage. I've got room for a few more bikes just need to convince my beloved that I need more bikes!
I wonder if said buttmunch has a GixxerSixxer and was trying to nick off with the smuggler for himself instead of just trying to break into it.

Why would anyone want the back of their bike to look like that?

The 80 hour long conversation about Star Wars made me wonder if I was in the right company, that's for sure.
Fucking star wars!

You'd rather be in the company of real bad boy bikers like the guy from the Village People, wearing leather cheekless chaps perhaps? :p

Concentration held until I got home, though... Thanks to CNUCK (Interceptor?) for tailing me, the lights in my mirror really helped.
Very welcome, I figured it would be best to follow along behind and keep you company.
I think the wind chill plays a big part in cooling you down quickly and makes you feel colder than it actually is. I felt fine, however I was wearing all weather jacket & pants, each has a waterproof liner so it does a great job in cutting down to zero the amount of the wind that gets through.
