Nice ride falks. Plenty of jokes to go around. That noodle Robbie, recommended was primo. Also saw Musicman with betty going to a nice family dinner - Small world for the hornet swarmers Couldn't make it to the milk shakes but it will make for a nice tale on the next swarm :killingme
p.s. Winter jacket from now on for me :cold:

Yeah, much pumpkining last night. I shot off as well, foregoing the sweet nectar that is Hulucat.
Gremlinette, that was you following me home, heading north at the end of the night right? I gave a wave and didn't see the dual headlights after that, thought I might have caused you to miss the last offramp before the bridge.
steelphoenix
19th April 2011, 11:30
Oh yeah, that was me. You didn't see the headlights because at that point a nice Mr Popo drove up beside me and informed me that I was going too fast for an L-plater. Didn't ticket me, though! *phew* I didn't realise until after I passed the last exit that perhaps you were going home, not leading off. EPIC FAIL was had. Unintentional trip to the North Shore aside (sorry Todd! :sweatdrop ), and Mr Popo showing up, I had fun!

Not yet, I want to take my wife for a spin on it first. See if she likes it too, since unsurprisingly she hates the pillion seat on my thou. Then convince her that we need to spend the additional coin so we can have both bikes, since I like my thou so much and don't really see the 'Busa as a good commuting option.
zeocen
9th May 2011, 15:53
When I rode one I found it a good commuter for that kind of bike, SO much better than the zx14 in that regard. But the 14 won on everything else.
Definitely doable!
Though if I has the option of having yet another bike I'd take it too :p
gale_wolf
9th May 2011, 16:09
I haven't tried the 14 so can't compare the two. When I say the Busa's not a commuting option for me, that just refers to it being a bit bulky IMO for the kind of slow and often very tight lane splitting we have to do in our wonderful Auckland traffic. Other than that it was absolutely mint, powerful, very comfortable, easy handling, and hopefully goes great 2-up. I can see myself owning one, hopefully my wife can too ;)

Had a look at my footage this morning, saw the hedgehog Justin mentioned - I went past it, about 5 metres or so ahead of it was....... a shoe.
A fucking shoe!
It's been a while since I've had a scare like that! Just before it happened I was thinking I had too much weight on the bars so put weight on the pegs and gripped the tank and then BAM front spazzed out from the shoe like no tomorrow. Luckily I was light on the bars so it corrected itself! I patted mah lovely bike after that. Saved me from my own stupidity.
The abysmally sad thing was that almost immediately after I thought, "Katman would have a field day with that one! Bailing from a rogue shoe!"
KB has poisoned my mind.

Well some nice wet twisty roads! Some parts lashing down with rain that came in horizontally, lovely! :woohoo: Been ages since I enjoyed myself like that!
After the big feed up at the Crazy Noodle Canteen consisting of :
Sweet & Sour pork
Spare ribs
Black pepper steak
2 X bowls of Wonton soup
Combination fried rice
Fried squid
Fried chicken wings
Mini spring rolls
Flat rice noodles with steak
Chicken and cashew nuts
Spicy potato wedges
All washed down with some nice tea and fizzy drinks!
zeocen turned into a pumpkin and rode away with Gremlin, the rest of us up to Old North Road and the local environs there, weather bore in and we were treated to some nice wet night riding (always good!) in some parts the rain was hitting so hard, it was bouncing right back off the road - other bits, it was steaming off! TOTO was ride leader and I was TEC behind Gale_wolf and Wanpo.
At one point, we stopped so we could don our wet weather gears.
Eventually we turned right before Kaukapakapa and headed back to Highbury for some Momotea!
Talked the usual bollocks and bike related guff before we all sloshed our wet gear on and headed on home! (for the record I had Litchi yoghurt drink with mango pudding and crystal, my girl had a hot rock melon tea!) Gale_Wolf had obviously drank enough rain water and passed up the drinkies bit!

Well the mud made me give my bike its first wash down on Friday and today I gave it its first proper wash. Damn mud ruined my lazy streak. But thank fuuuuuck I don't have a faired bike anymore; tank, front fender = done.
love my bike more and more by the day :P silly faired bikes :P
Oh yeah, who is the aprilia dealership in Auckland now since Mt Eden imploded? I was gonna get some Z1000 mirrors but Crapasaki wants $86 EACH for some piddly mirrors so I'm gonna get the Shiver/Tuono mirrors again, they were far cheaper.
Hey Kawasaki, you're not European, stop pricing yourself as if you are one. Cocks.

Nice meeting you too and the new lil'ol'hornet! Was a perfect run through the St Heliers GP, must have been the new bike! (Will have to bring my 900 Hornet next time so it can meet the newest chewfiddy around!) :niceone:
Finished up at Momotea after meeting TOTO at the Whitford roundabout (we could hear his zorsts in the distance!) The look on Wanpo's face was priceless when I stated we were going to ride back to Momotea  So as a bonus, I got him to take point and lead the group the long way round back to Momotea (via Maraetai).
Interceptor had an interesting tale to tell about his big day off! Riding to Hampton Downs to drive a supercar ... pfft! The cheek of it! A Lamboghini even! :oi-grr:

great night yo
I concreted that my bike is the bike for me, had a play on both a dirty gixxer and 'The Green Hornet'
<img src="http://epguides.com/GreenHornet/cast.jpg"/>
both had their merits (The gixxer was real smooth and I'm always impressed by that hornet's gearbox) But I walked away with sore elbows from the Suzuki and sore shoulders on the upright, got back on Cammy and breathed a sigh of relief.
Tested the Swarm's following skills; they all failed. I totally meant to lead down that no exit road >.> Was cracking up at the embarring ride past all of you stopped on the side of the road to get back to the front.
my back is still sore from riding the CBR. Time for a massage me thinks :innocent:

Ok so tonight was my first hornet swarm ... met in town (after I finished the work thing) .. then off around St helliuers etc .... quick stop for a gas up over botony way ... then around the bays you could say ... Whitford, Clevedon, Lock Up - skid - Maretai whitford then the lovely Momo tea.
Was interesting and i managed to stay upright with the focus on don't go in the water and keep your eyes sorta to the side of the road and not the water.
Thanks Toto and Mike for giving us a hand to get the bike sorted on the road again ...
If I haven't scared ya enough I think I might do the hornet swarm again in the near future.
Cheers for an experience I won't forget.

Glad we are able to have a chuckle about it, but it was most concerning when we stopped at Maraetai and waited ... and waited ... and waited some more, before Interceptor was despatched followed by Gale_wolf a little later to discover the delay!
We were holding our breath!
So it was very nice to see headlights wending their way towards us! Nasty did very well and remembered to look to where she wanted to go (I still remember her uttering "not the water, not the water!")

Well miss muffet, before you twist your knickers into a knot - we were following procedure! When I asked Interceptor about where the rest were, he said he saw the headlights behind him, since I was in the lead I can only go by what I see in my mirrors (Wanpo behind me and I did see Interceptor's lights) ... vision is restricted by the twists and turns as you should well know on that stretch! :bleh:

Thanks for the offer, I would take you up on it, but I'm not sure if she's going to be a regular customer, or if it was a one off. I think with the sporadic timings of my carrying a +1 would warrant grabbing a cheapish jacket, rather than borrowing one and it spending more time in the cupboard

Well that was an interesting night! Was a cool scene at the beginning where I was coming in to park and Gale_wolf and Wanpo roll in at the same time ... like a squadron coming into landing :woohoo:
The usual bollocks was talked, then off to a new designated om nom nom place. Namely an eat you can korean bbq! Mounds of pork slices, beef strips, sauteed spicy squid and pork, onion rings and a veritable selection of nibbles.
The popping oil got most of us and we ended up smelling of bbq! Mamma-san was relieved we turned up since she laid on extra food! At $17 a head, it's definitely a bargain! :niceone:
Anyhow, we all stumbled out of the eatery and whilst we were gearing up, Wanpo uttered "do I need my corduras on?" I replied the weather would be a "bit of this and a bit of that".
Needless to say our ride out to Piha lookout via scenic drive meant gusty squalls of driving rain!
TOTO was in the lead and did a good pace that erred on the side of safety (always a good thing) and I was content to be TEC and watch the others trailblaze ahead of me! :innocent:
At the lookout, the moon was bright and the rain subsided, we and an oncoming car were treated to the spectacle of a pants less Wanpo, his buttocks baring all as he mooned the moon in the moonlight! :killingme We were laughing so hard, none of us could snap an incriminating piccy!
And just when the laughter was subsiding, TOTO uttered how he could "kill two rocks with one bird!" damn, as Gale_wolf said "that quote and your green penguins..." killer! :killingme
From there, I pulled the pin on the usual MOMO tea forays and we all turned into pumpkins! Thanks everyone for a safe and entertaining evening! :done:

Good night and great laughs as usual, with plenty of bike stories to be told. It was great to see Gremlins attempt to make his bike pose as a Goldwing.
Swapped bikes with Gremlin for part of the ride to let him perve at his own back side for a bit. Amazing how two bikes that are virtually the same, can be sooo different. :ride:
Spot ya all next week (or earlier)

Yeah, probably better that you don't, Trace.
Last time you tried, you got locked out of your apartment and someone tried to steal your smuggler (why they'd want it is beyond me though ;p)
Also TT is evil, kept me up until 3:30 this morning with "Just one more race" syndrome

Just got my copy of Tourist Trophy from Trademe. Too bad my bike's not in it ;(TT was quite an addictive game. And my bike is in it nyah nyah :p Although it did seem to take ages to beat the Ducati 999 in order to actually win my bike. That was frustrating, and not helped at all by the encouragement from my wife in the cheap seats watching me crash the gixxer, "Um, isn't that your bike? I thought you knew how to ride a bike..." Stupid PS2 controller isn't at all like riding a bike I say.

Gotta ride! Although right now the clutch action is giving me grief with my wrist :violin: Might actually have to lay off the riding for a bit. Nah.

Now now, we all don't have to think like that - making sure we are doing everything in our power to ensure we don't bin! :pinch: There are plenty of old riders out there who have nary had a mishap due to their ability to judge conditions and road users well! We all need to be like them!

Wow Wanpo, since I couldn't go riding tonight, I watched your subbed anime.
Dang, it is a classic - it should be made into a real film! I won't go into too much detail to ruin the good bits for everyone else to watch it later!
Definitely a labour of love, lots of passion went into the making of this anime - even though there was repeated anime ( a staple of anime hehe ), I have to say - very impressed by the whole production.
Really made me want to go jump on my bike and go riding (though not as insane as those two!)
Brilliant job with the subbing, really had the feel of the anime! :niceone:
We will have to do a screening when the weather is too rotten (as if!) to ride in - biker movie night!
