Well, that was a great meet for me and myself and I! Was waiting at the usual spot and ate a lovely red bean paste and vanilla ice cream with a wafer coating in the shape of a fish (gotta love those asian ice creams!) Terrific conditions, empty roads and nary any other bikers in sight! I did see a bunch riding when I was returning from the St Heliers GP.

Had japanese for dinner and stopped off to visit Jeaves.

Oh, did have a good natter with the owner of a CBR1000 ... whilst waiting for no-one else to turn up!

Operation Swarm was an unmitigated success! Four Big Ol'Hornets turned up and 6 bikers! Have to say, that was a pretty spiffing turn out  Was surprised no one else turned up .. Poor GXSR Trace, she was waiting for us at Blush, but my usual pootling ways ... :o

Did the Mt Eden to No Tree Hill route, took some quick piccies and down to the St Heliers GP before turning up at Blush. Gremlin decided to get up to his usual tricks ... I was coming down from Mt Eden and thought "I wonder if Gremlin will get up to his usual tricks and there will be a rozzer nearby".

And wouldn't ya knows it, there was one parked at the bottom of the hill!

A bit of off-road action and I'm sure EoBE was wondering what the hell she signed up for!

Blush was the usual ice slush affair, but this time with a twist - copious amounts of food was ordered! My usual ninja eclectic ways ensured I got confused with the menu. In the end, chips, squid rings, meat on skewer sticks and other mains turned up. Delicious!

Once the end was upon us, zeocen looked like he was about to turn into a pumpkin ... we stuck Gremlin with the bill and dined and dashed from him! :innocent: :devil2:

Greentea thought the ride was too short and demanded we go the long way home! :niceone: So whom am I to deny what my pillion wants? Gremlin and EoBE with Badger8 went back to Mt Wellington via the conventional route, moronway.

Great ride. Great night. Great company. Only regret was Gremlin turning up :bleh:

Piccies to come!

Where there is filth, they are there!
Babies cry! Dogs cower! Old people scared!
Loathing and loutish they crouch,
defiling sacred places and scowling faces ..
Biker scum! Beware!

Pic 1 : "Mummy, are those filthy biker scum?"
Pic 2 : "Mummy, is that a steenk'n badger?"
Pic 3 : Gremlin's head gets too big for his britches
Pic 4 : Compulsory anime/manga high angle bird's eye view shot
Pic 5 : God in his resplendent glory, gazes down upon His handiwork and thinks "what are those filthy biker scum doing on my creation!?"

Well, lor' and begorrah, TOTO was bereft of any takers on a Tuesday night pootle ... so who was I, gijoe1313, hornet and pootler extraordinaire to leave him alone to his devices? :oi-grr:

So offs I pootles, after laughing at Gremlin, stuck at work and unable to ride. Met TOTO at the designated RZ and got chatting with a chap who is a longtime lurking KBer with a Beemer. Seems we may have another participant for the Monday night madness next week! :niceone:

Anyhows, I put it to TOTO that we should do SH16 and off we went. After getting stuck at city lights for 10 minutes!

So TOTO takes point and we make our merry way to Wellsford via the long way round! Just the ticket for pootlers like us two! We stopped at Helensville for TOTO to sack out and we had a bit of a natter with a fellow biker who pulled over to say hi to us! Was in a pick-up, but attended the Westpac ride on Sunday just gone ... small world :msn-wink:

Booting off to Wellsford, the roads were a mixture of damp to dry and there was the reflected light of a full moon ... very nice! We meandered our way to the welcoming light of Wellsford servo where TOTO went om nom nom nom to a plate of nosh, and I did my customary eating of a soft serve ice cream ("I rode to Wellsford for an ice cream I did" :innocent:)

I took point back and some heavy, but brief spatters of rain entertained us on the way home. We parted company at Westgate and voila, I am home after tending to the Big Ol'Hornet and making jibes at Gremlin who is still stuck at work!

Time for some piccies methinks!

TOTO
10th March 2009, 22:33
Yes a good night it so was. Maybe we can go dancing sometime on a hornet swarm with the new hornet swarm member. Learn some fancy moves we may and use it as an excuse to bring some female companions to the swarm ;)

This is a step by step instruction guide to providing a portable liquid deflector from an improvised resource. Namely rubbish bags of the plastic variety.

Step 1 : Talk to bemused servo attendant and locate appropriate resources. Drape said bags over Big Ol'Hornet to look tres chic in the demi monde of the biking underbelly.

Step 2 : Using your ignition keys, artfully design Andy Warholesque holes in strategic points for your head and arms to egress out of desired bag. Next, lose keys somewhere on person necessitating a 5 minutes search to relocate it from the place you put it.

Step 3 : Return to bemused servo attendant and plead for the lend of a pair of scissors. Ensure scissors are blunt and no use whatsoever for this project. Knowing how cheap arse they are, they will try to recycle the bag to use as a rubbish bag by using copious amounts of duct tape ... which exceeds the cost of the bag itself.

Step 4 : Continue with making the holes. Remember the large hole at the other end is already made and is how you will put the ensemble device at completion on.

Step 5 : Taking care to locate your noggin and bendy army bits into right holes, suck in gut and pull the bag over. Keep pulling over until it tears which means you need to repeat steps 1-3 again, if not, then keep pulling till your head is free - unless you collapse from lack of oxygen due to self-strangulation or asphyxiation occurs.

Step 6 : Voila! You have proven to be a cheap arse biker who probably should have spent the readies to buy a decent rain gear system due to the cost of these bags adding up over the long run!

TOTO

Pish, amateur :-p
We gathered at the library to a swarm of triumphs! :shit: The triumph power club having their bi-weekly drinkies. All rolled up on their triumphs, in their triumph jackets, took them off to reveal their triumph shirts underneath... Too bad us honda crew were there for a ride :devil2:

The thought of scenic drive arose, but was decided against. And off northwest we pootled. Gas and a slash stop at westgate, off down donbucks, and out the back way to old north road, through some nice roads i never remember the names of, and ended up out by kaukapakapa.
Headin back toward albany in the dark cool night my damn heated grips cut out on me again, and my nice cool thin vented summer gloves led to my fingers freezing to the grips. So i pulled over and had a poke at the wiring, and a chinwag ensued. Eventually we geared up and the destination of Albany GP was decided upon :D

Sharry's first time there, and Choco is really getting the hang of it now, whipping round like one of those guys doing the Gymkana (sp?) on youtube, most impressive :first:

Choco turned into a pumpkin, so toto sharry and myself shot off to bar africa for some wedges and a chinwag.
Only just got home now, so much for my early night and early start at work tomorrow!

TOTO

Well Choco and I pootled over to the usual time and place to find Badger already waiting , eager for a ride.

It appears that tonight was the night that al the trimoomph riders were having a beer at the coffe shop over across to our normal swarm meet. Fully fulfilling their stereotipes of loud , hairy, tattoed covered giants who snobily looked at our gey hondas. :whocares:

Then all of nowhere Sharry shows up on her trusty jade. Looking so cool on the sunlight, all of the trimoomph gangsters shushed and looked over while our grasious companion was parking her bike and didnt pay them even the slightest attention

So we chatted about the usual filthy biker scum things and off we pootled somewhere out north west. Stopped over at the servo so that choco and sharry can feed the trusty horseys and mr TOTO to ensure he had the proper equipemt working to make Badger, Sharry and Choco Moving Stars

Took the long way around the short way trough some nice pootling corners taking in the view of the golden sunset and the views in the distance. We saluted :wavey: to an attention grabbing female who responded with a gorgeous smile

At one point we stopped because poor Badgers hands got cold due to the heated grips on his stalion not working properly. He is a sensitive boy our Badger, and having cold hands is way outside the filthy biker scum scale of tolerance. Ensuring the hands could get warm again we pootled on.

We made our way to the albany gp where Sharry, Badger and Choco all went loose on the racetrack and I enjoyed the harmony created by the buzzing trio.

Eventually choco pootled off home to ensure no pumpkin turning occurs. Mr Badger, Miss Sharry and I decided that it would be nice to go to Africa to warm up and have some african food. The african environment was warm cosy and not too crowded and the tasty african food didnt dissapoint once again. Sharry wanted a gazelle, I was craving a zebra and Badger had an elephant an elephant on his mind, but seeing that they had run out we all got the wedges

Our Moving Stars shall hopefully shine soon on the mini screen :)

Okay, don't get me wrong I love my Hornet. I can deal with them being popular, and being labled 'boring' bikes. I love it, I really do, but I have a serious bone to pick with it.

I HAVE BEEN STUNG MORE ON MY HORNET THAN MY ENTIRE LIFE IN THE SPACE OF 2 MONTHS:mad:

I may be overreacting, because before this bike I've only been stung once, when I was a little kid. But now I've been stung by a wasp TWO times on the hornet!
Both the same deal, angry wasp flies into my colar at some point, sits there boiling in anger and when I stop and get off the bike, he jabs me a billion times before I can find the little fucker and pull him off.
The second time happened tonight!

GRRRRR!!!

That said, anyone riding tomorrow? :headbang:

Yeah, it looks bitchin, if a bit heavy. Just gotta figure out a clasp for it :2thumbsup

Zip ties...

:headbang:

Lol that is funny. I only stung once - you can read about it here... (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=63738)

you may wanna start zipping up your jacket...

I'm afraid I shall miss tomorrow as I work mondays at this stage.

Well, as I live and breathe - I pulled into ye meeting spot and I see two scallywags and one wench at the spot! Gwinch and zeocen in the company of Sharry

Well, we wait for the witching hour and then Musicman rocks up ... by the time we leave for a quick ride to the Shore, somehow we have misplaced him taking the long way to the Shore via Ponsnobby. Only to find the bridge on ramp from Herne bay closed arrr! Shiver me timbers! So we ride under the bridge to see Davy Jone's Locker and we ride to the Head. From up high, a nice view of the sunset was seen, 'cepting for the blind zeocen who suddenly realised when he turned around how nice it was :slap:

Musicman at this stage we saw riding along King Edward's drive, we knew it was him because Gwinch said "does he ride like a nana?" and we watched him ease around the twisties to our locality :bleh:

I'll leave it to him to explain the situation

Anyway, we ride together and to the Devonport Wharf we yo ho hoed! :msn-wink: Via some twisties and down some dead end streets! :innocent:

By this stage Sharry was well hungry, but no mercy me landlubbers! gijoe1313 leads the shore party to Mission Bay to do the St Heliers twisties arrr! We plundered it of its goodies and to our pirate hang out Blush we boldly rode! Outside, waiting in repose with a dangerous gleam in his eye was the interminable Badger8! Yaar me hearties!

At blush over a tot of the finest ice slush and some portions of greasy spoon titbits, we guffawed and made bad impressions of filthy pirating biker scum :spanking:

I do have to say that Gwinch and zeocen give Stalking a bad name, and the hen in hentai when it comes to the serving scullery wenches of that establishment! :chase: Push comes to shove, I forked over some doubloons and pieces o'eight to the treasure trove and we purloined our bikes from their vestibules.

And cast off anchors, weigh sail and spliced the mizzen we did! Well met me fellow buccaneers of the roadways! I be honoured to ride with ye all till next we cut a caper on the way to riches, fame and wenches! Arrr!

It's actually really stable! two points of contact with the ground (front wheel, stand) the front brake lever is tied to the bar so the front wheel doesnt move and the whole bike is angled so if the block of wood shifts it falls back ONTO the rear wheel, not onto it's side :D

And speaking of dirty girls...
I snuck away up north this weekend just gone. Boosted up to just outside whangarei on friday night to a secret spot. Dinner devoured, a beer or two downed, and a pillow scrounged for the night.
The next day came, and spare gear was produced from the pack, and a pillion was acquired! :shifty:
The ol boy where i stayed just happened to have himself a lovely 1962 BSA B65 (i think twas a B65, dont attack me if i'm wrong!) which he had bored and stroked out to approx a 780cc beastie. As it was a lovely day saturday morning (okay, lunchtime ) when we were about to set off, we insisted he come for a a ride up through twin bridges with us :sunny:
So off through maungatapere just down the road, and through to the bridges. We cleared all the usual patches of roadworks without a problem, then hit a real nasty couple of k's of it right before the bridges themselves. Real fresh limestone down, not graded yet, and the water sprayer truck had just gone over it. So it was wet and slimy and flicked muck ALL over my nice clean baby! :weep:
But we were not to be deterred, and onward we pressed. Up to kaikohe, and across to Rawene. Over on the vehicle ferry, and up to visit some folk in Kohukohu. A lovely afternoon cuppa tea up on the hillside in the bush, and onward we pressed. Through the maungamuka gorge and on to Kerikeri where a BBQ dinner and a hot shower awaited at my folks place :first:
Dinner devoured, beverages consumed (including some Estonian chocolate liqueurs to die for!) and some well earned kip!
Full english brunch in the morn, and off round the corner to Opito bay to dip toes-ies in the water and enjoy the sunshine. A little lay around and relax was had, then realised the time was getting on and there was still much to see and do.
Stopped in the stone store and the Makana chocolate factory on the way back through Kerikeri township. Now i dont think i will ever understand the female obsession with chocolate, but i think i came close for a moment there... They gave us some little samples of some macadamia butternut crunch chocolate, and i just melted on the spot!
So she squished as much chocolate as she could into the already squashed pack, and onward we rode. Stopped in Kawakawa for the obligatory toilet stop at the arty farty bogs, and an ice choc was enjoyed at the cafe across the road (best coffee in the area if you're into that sortof thing, but neither of us are). A text to a friend just down the road, and she was home indeed, so onward to the secret spot in Whakapara. A bucket and a hose were presented (with much laughter on my part) and a soft brush to remove much of the lime splashes from my poor baby. I did as best i could with what little tank water i could bring myself to use.
A beer was placed in my hand to fuel the cleaning, and it went down so well it barely touched the sides! A margarita was then produced from goodness knows where, and it became apparent i would be staying the night!
A lovely spot indeed that i remember well from my high school days. None of those silly things like power or locks on the doors. A clear starry night beaming in the window as we napped.
At 4:30 in the morning the phone started chirping, and the badger lept back into action! Up and geared and ready to go! Barely a mumble was the response when goodbyes were said, but a jab in the ribs soon got a bit more! :girlfight:

So plowing on through the freezing morning fog the brave warrior badger did plunge henceforth
! Onward with much ground to cover and work to start in a few short hours! Had to stop at the end of the road to wipe my glasses which had become rather sopping from the wet fog. Was a long chilly ride home, but worth it for a great weekend with a great pillion onboard!
Currently convincing her to come down to aucks next weekend, so a little pootle may be organised round some lovely coastal spots down south-east if plans come to fruition... She is keen to come on a group ride and see what it is all about, so i shall let you good folk know in due time ;)

Is it legal to carry a gas bottle on your bike?

Akin to a NOS bottle, surely?

It's well-ventilated at least. Also easy to steal and hardly particularly crash-proof.

Probably legal (as it's pretty much the same as carrying one in the boot of your car), but the practical application would be a bit more fun to get working.

Well, this morning I dropped off my Big Ol'Hornet to Botany Honda for its regular service ... and got given a ... Big Ol'Hornet to ride again as a loaner!

Anyway, rode to BP Botany to await the turn up of the crew ... and with a nice gourmet pepper steak pie and a Frank's Passionfruit and Tart Lemon fizzy drink, I was all set to go.

Eventually Badger8 and pillion turns up first ...
Then Andy_r ...
Then Musicman with pillion and Sharry!

All present and accounted for, TOTO would be riding in from afar and would catch us up later!

So off we tootle, via Whitford to Maraetai to yada blada blah (most people know the score for that sort of ride by now! :msn-wink:)

I was in my favoured position of TEC! :woohoo: Roads were relatively emptied of traffic, nice overcast day and apart from a teeny tiny amount of gravel it was all plain riding! :ride:

Had the usual scoff of tucker at the Kaiaua fush n'chuppies when TOTO rocked on up .. with a Ducati behind him! By this stage we had all eaten and we got on with the most important thing ... riding! :msn-wink:

Off to Hunuas to Clevedon where I said goodbyes to the group ... my Big Ol'Hornet was ready to be picked up! $180 later, I was busy chortling my way back home via the long way home (is there any other way for me?)

A great day out pootling around in good company. Piccies to come mon amis!

Defenestration is fun, I used to do it to people all the time on Facebook's Superpoke application. It doesn't result in missing limbs though does it? I saw a movie last night, Watchmen, and one guy was defenestrated near the beginning of the movie. He didn't lose any limbs.

Fair enuf guvna. Least i was polite enough to ask for full size to be sent, rather than hurl abuse... fiught the urge!
i find that for some reason if i open my pics in paint, save them, then close them again, it cuts down the file size a lot without seeming to drop the quality at all. Not sure why, but it does. Maybe the compression on my camera not as good as on a comp? who knows...
My standard trick for KB posting is to resize to half-size, and save (all in paint mind you :bleh:) and post up. They seem to have a smallish file size, but still plenty big photo's :)

something about a 918cc bike on an RC car track just doesn't tickle my fancy.

And I *DID* loosen it for you! Hmph! :D

Was nice to just stand around and chat and relax to be honest. So sorry I have someone to go home to that makes me decide to go home early on rides :P

zeocen gets annoyed at being called a girl... then utters the phrase by all girls... I loosened it for you

Badger complained that usually when he went to a carpark to practise, he stood around yapping instead of practising his skills... so all he did was yap ... again.

Gremlin had fun like everyone else... typical KB meet really, lots of biker talk done, very little riding done

You do realise that I have taken my Big Ol'Hornet around that track ... along with TOTO?

And the lil'ol'hornet was even easier with ... I think Pippi would be laughing away (and she isn't much bigger than a RC car anyways! :o)

thats right it was me you and badger on the race track.

ZEO has still no realised the full potential of his bike. Like sitting on a pile of gold and begging for money :D

Oh, I do think he is realising it ... he still like to comment on how well the Big Ol'Hornet goes around corners, how good handling it is (with new and better tyres), how he always is greeted by all sorts of other bike riders in a friendly manner, etc etc ....

All the normal stuff Hornet riders are used to! :msn-wink:

These Born Again Hornet riders are very evangelical in outlook!

Don't get me wrong I love my bike to pieces. I'm not doubting it can't do it, but if I had that kind of time to go to Albany from Manurewa to ride in a carpark RC track then I'd rather be riding on the back streets of South Auck :)

I think your Hornet needs to be ridden moar! Heck, if I can ride to Wellington for dinner, then you riding to Albany is like a little trip to the dairy! Yes? No? :innocent:

We all know that your "trip to the dairy" is by no means short. It usually involves ending up in Wellington or Tauranga... or both

I'd rather go 2 mins down the road to instant fun roads than all the way to Albany for fun roads :)

Check out the tyre on my work bike! These pictures are all of different parts of the tyre.

I tried to fully lean the bike over around a corner on this tyre, and man the rear end started jumping around like a bucking bronco trying to throw me off! Then they replaced the tyre and I had to ride on a brand new tyre on Thursday... the day we had rain and a slight bit of hail :argh: during which time I was riding up Symonds St, it was so much fun but it hurt! I was riding along going "hahahaha, ouch it hurts! hahaha! it hurts!! ow!! hahahaha!!!", I wonder what people would've thought if they heard me!

Anyway, I know this isn't a Hornet, but I didn't want to post a new thread for this, so I posted it here, haha.

hey banzai. Some of the pootlers have been covering up lately that I forgot what they look like..., but then you know the other few of us never stop clocking up the kms - round and round and round we go.

New adventure report to come in soon :innocent:

This thing about the gsr 400 ....ammmmmmmm...5year loan - are you NUTS ???? tell me you are joking :oi-grr:

yea, you can always come back to nz you know - there are barely dressed women marching on the streets of auckland, shouting your name, and expecting your royal suzuki return

I'm paying back my debts still and so far I haven't returned it much coz I'm just living off by part time jobs.

Once I get full time job then I would have slightly more money sothat I can pat back debts as well as start planning to buy a bike :p

GSR400 is great bike man, the most powerful bike in 400class, CB400 i-VTEC power is nothing close to GSR's.

It's ¥829,500. Now NZD=60Y so its about NZD13800. Make it a 5yr loan and I will need to pay $230/mth if there are no deposit. Plus insurance, gas maintenance etc...
Average Jap income nowdays are 200,000/mth so =$3333(Yay for recession! It used to be half a value of that!)

Then I probly need to pay for $400-500/mth.

I think I can manage if I cut down my foods :done:
