Nah we shouldnt have any trouble with the weather this Thursday - 2 Huge HIGHS out in the Tasman = Farken shit-hot weather for the next couple of days (and even into the weekend me thinks)

Dont worry about Dover, he's having too much fun making noobies fall off their bikes out south....

Just been outside cleaning the bike is/has anyone else?:sunny: Feels like its gonna be a bloody cold night tonight....... tomorrow night aint goin to be any warmer either...definately a night for the thermals...:cold:

As quoted last week, I purchased a PROGRIP visor insert (Which Qkkid needs to avoid tickets - but thats another story..) from Henderson Motorcycles. Put it in me helmet and PRESTO! all fog is now non-existent. This insert even has photocromic qualities too (light sensitive). If it's bright outside it automatically tints for you (not very dark but enough), so is ideal for those who travel to work in the dark and come home in daylight or vice-versa. VERY RECOMMENDED if you want to enjoy the ATNR. Just wished I hadn't spent all those prior years trying to keep my visor clear. Spent enough $$$'s on products that dont work where this one is one application (it sticks to the inside like a second skin) Bit of useful reading - Comparasion between Fog City and Progrip anti-fog Visor inserts (http://www.webbikeworld.com/motorcycle-helmets/visors/fog-city-progrip.htm)

Easily 30+ bikes present tonight, good turnout once again, tks to the Qk's!

The ride was heaps of fun, one big adrenalin rush  . I enjoy the night riding more and more now that I know those roads at night, it took some weeks to get used to, the first few times were kinda scary and I feel for the noobs who come along, specially if they follow Custard, oops :innocent: sory Qkkid, down the alternate route to the pub! Twas good there were no 'moments' on the road tonight. Saw one :Police: (mufti tks Speedie) flashing his lights going the opposite direction, thankfully I was behind a wee twofiddy and had just come out of a 50km area :scooter: , so I hadn't passed him yet...on one wheel. Come to think of it, that Crazy guy Steve from Hams was also on the ride tonight and I saw him doing some wheelstands the nutter - good onya for coming up and introin' yerself Steve! :niceone: Saw Skelstar from Wllgtn and who should show up from New Plymouth but Inlinefour! Good to see you outatowners turning up...all is forgiven Inline, well, nearly all :brick: . 'Rayza on crutches' was there, i think keeping a close eye on his K6, which he had generously loaned to a fellow KBer (something about the chain rusting away lol?), good to see you out and about and get well soon. Busa Pete 1&2 were there IN A CAGE :oi-grr: , but they are forgiven cos both were wearing their KB beanies!! :bleh: Sixpackback was there, I think he's worried about Gareth? Maybe it's that loud R6 he rides and wheelies everywhere? :blip:

Anyway, it was a good night. :2thumbsup

Apologies to the two bikers behind me on the tikki tour to the pub from the first Caltex check point. Got separated from the pack - QKkid you said it was going to be a leisurely pace cause no TEC! Then stuck behind some $&#%& cages so by the time we emerged from Sunnyvale? rd was completely lost - turned right instead of left. Just as I started thinking that the ride was going on a bit longer than I remember a pack of riders fly past in opposite direction:shutup:

Taking the hint we few stragglers did a prompt u-y and tried to relocate said bike pack. No chance - bike pack vanished:shit: So carried on and on and on and on and on and on and suddenly Albany:second: just as bike pack emerged from Pirimarimarimairmaimriaimrambamwham road.

plus boobs on bikes was a public promotion, hardly in the same category now is it?

I would second that Postie...... I would deem it a breach of privacy.

Sorry Maha, Im gonna have to disagree with you on this. I would be so pissed off if someone posted pics of my bike (when) if I binned. Becides the embarassment, some people appeciate a bit of privacy eh.... and another point, what if someones partner/best buddy saw their bike on here before they found out? Its a very touchy subject just like posting up crash details before anyone knows who it was.

IF I FIND ANYONE ON HERE POSTING UP WHO THE RIDERS WERE, I FUCKEN COME DOWN ON YOU LIKE A TON OF BRICKS!!! NO NAMES PLEASE.
If those riders involved want to say something, it's up to them.

Yeah I was the other silly duffer to lose it. Dumb thing was I was on my way to see how the other guy guy was. Doh! Got body slammed into the road and KO'd apparently. I don't really know cos I was on another planet at the time lol. Feel like I've been run over though. No idea what caused me to lose it but I sure did.

Anyway thanks to all those that helped me out. The Qkchck and Qkkid for getting me to Hospital. Speedie and K19 for getting there ahead of me to ensure I didn't have wait in line :innocent: . Don't remember much on the road so thanks to the guys that helped me out there.

And ta to those that texted me to see how I was yesterday.

Its good to have support from fellow bikers when the shit hits the fan. Only just got to an internet connection so I apologise for the delay.

Cheers

HAPPY 1ST YEAR ANNIVERSARY FOR THE ATNR!

Bit late for the party and champagne (yeah right), but the first proper ATNR was started on the 29th September 2005 see here (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=17886)for the original 'got no idea what we are going to do but lets go out for a ride anyway' in which, over the following couple of weeks morphed into the ATNR as we know it today.

Has anyone got any ideas for tomorrow night? Somewhere different? Something different maybe? Provided theres no mishaps..............like crashing

I have to traverse this long stretch of gravel road to get to and from home which has steadily been getting worse over the winter. I'm OK really, wasn't doing insane speeds due to the condition of the road. Some parts of my bod are a little sore, my gear's looking a little second hand and the bike's wearing a new set of battle scars. Just glad it wasn't worse and but annoyed that it happened all the same. :whocares:

Not as annoyed as the few who were pinged on the ride though!

Hey guys and girls,

Nice meeting you all. The ride was awesome besides the fact I have to get used to night riding. Finished off well with beers and dinner at Albany. Good lot you are!

But I really do feel sorry for those snapped tonight and the ones who had to "walk" home. Lets face the fact, there were a few others who were "naughty" besides the ones who got done and you know who you are! Lol.

To the ones who got done just my 2c worth, please don't pay the fines and at the least write in and dispute. Few things you could mention which I know you probably would have already thought of, but none the less worth a crack.

There were a few bikes.
They didn't clock you and show you your speed.
It wasn't me was another green ZX 10 R who was with us and gapped it.

Or ofcourse other more feasible excuses you can come up with?

WICKY
8th September 2006, 00:45
Just a couple of points, as you say there were a number of riders who were being naughty, don't you think thats why the Police were selective in their enforcement using an unmarked car and all. Guess registration plates don't mean anything these days. By the way it is not a requirement to show the locked speed on the device.

SwanTiger
8th September 2006, 01:00
The circumstances revolving around my loss of license can and will be disputed on two valid technicalities once I have my opportunity to do so in court.

The only thing I'm pissed off about is the fact I wasn't even enjoying the ride, stuck doing 70 - 90 km/h most of the way, and by the time we got to Dairy Flat I was busting to take a shit.

Only in NZ eh...

Proof? We don't need proof, as long as I say you were speeding then you must have been.

What kind of fucking retarded system lets them just write down a plate and say what speed you were doing... given there were 30 of us, in the dark, and the coppers didn't know which bike was which, how can they say, beyond reasonable doubt, that they actually caught the people they ticketed?

I really think there was a bit of over-kill going on with the police response to last night. By the end of it there were 2 highway patrol cars and 2 unmarked mazda 6's. Are we really that much of a threat? Next thing you know the tazers would have been flying............:Playnice:

Hi all, was a good cruise all concidered.
Picked up my VFR that morning from the shop :scooter: .. did not too badly for going without for 2yrs!

To the lot that got pigged, err pinged.. My thoughts are with you. Having said that, I hung around at Dairyflat for a bit before headin to the pub for wedges and sour cream.. Mmm wedges  ....
My 2cents: * The the policeman chap from Warkworth was pleasant though. * Another good night, thanks to the Kids

Perhaps, but some of the people caught were legitimately exceeding the limit by some amount. However the way they (The Police) carried it out was somewhat dangerous and "Cowboy" like.

For instance, the unmarked vehicle which followed me (TEC) and the slowest rider was doing so closely, something I would consider "debatable".

The funny thing is, and I hope some of you there heard it, one of the Officers in the unmarked car who allegedly caught "most" of the riders laughed and said "Yeah we were following you two, you were only doing 100 - 110 kmp/h and then we flashed the lights and passed you about the Forest".

Based on a few comments I don't think they were very methodical.

EDIT: The guy in the marked HP vehicle was definitely a decent cop. Someone mentioned that the others in the unmarked car were from somewhere else? Judging by their attitude I would assume they're based in the city.

WTF?

This is a sure sign they are reading the forums... come on people... organise your rides through PM from now... less chance of the piggies catching you... or stalking more like it...

Just as well my bike is off the road otheriwse I would have been there... and more than likely got pinged myself...

Bummer to those who got pinged and had to walk...

Complaints are in order... obviously bikers going on a peaceful ride are WAY more of a threat than baby killers... P addicts and drunks... go the police force... working up thier rep again...

How many cars did we actually see on the road the whole evening? 10 tops...

I realise there have been accidents on that route before now, but I'm still thinking that the coppers were sneaky in taking as many plates as possible before pulling us up.

Doubt I'll be heading up that way again for quite some time, and if the Albany pub wants to know what happened to their business then tell them to ask the cops eh.

I didn't go on the ride but I did go to the pub later and hear about the carnage.

On the way to the pub there were 4 police cars dealing to what looked like a boy racer just off Greenlane.

There was a cop on a bike stationary on the Greenlane Freeway onramp.

There were two more hwy patrols (one a support ute) before the harbour bridge.

There was one more hwy patrol I passed at 95kph going up the hill before the Bays turnoff.

There was another bike cop going the other way in what looked like a pursuit just before the Albany off ramp.

There were 4 cars reportedly involved in the KB episode.

Typical i guess. I wasn't speeding and it didn't bother me - part of me is happy that they are eradicating the boi racers doing stupid things on the motorway too.

But at what cost?

The night before I had to go and 'rescue' my son from the fuckwits that live next door to him - they get pissed in their front yard and start harassing him and threatening him because of the fallout from their pit bull biting him.

Obviously dealing with this type of social disorder with pissed ropeheads banging on his door, and threatening a lone young bloke is of lesser importance than the traffic flow on greenlane roundabout.

'Obvious' because when he has called the police about the incidents in the past they have taken 4 HOURS to respond - not the officers fault - prime time and only so many of them - so now he calls dad and I'd like a word with whoever is in charge of the allocation of resources.

And then I read that high profile lawlessness has come to parts of Auckland - yet there are 11 or more units attending traffic on a quiet freeway at half past 8 on Thursday night?

It appears to me we desperately need a change of government or someone to balance the system - shame the alternatives seem just as bad.

PS - I didn't have to do or say anything just turning up was enough to send them indoors.

Not necessarily, if locals are complaining it wouldn't take an idiot to figure out it's usually on a Thursday night and usually at the same time. Still, better to be safe than sorry. Has anyone been monitoring police band - would this have even been broadcast?

for the next "TOTNR" ride:
Meeting place: "Gold"
Meeting time: "Utah"
Route: "Omaha"
Please PM "D-Day" with confirmation of attendance. We might stop at St Lo or Carentan to do some wheelies and stoppies & stuff like that...

The dude in the marked HP gave me a lift.

As for the Police watching this Forum, I don't think it really matters, we do the same route pretty much every night and they are aware of it.

They aren't exactly stupid either.

The fact the HP unit came past us at our first stop and turned right going up our intended route makes you wonder. Either they were blocking off both routes (I imagine another unit would of been on the third possible route) or someone informed them of our intended route.

Commiserations to those who got busted, I sincerely hope that the methods being used by the police on this occasion do not represent the regions priorities of policing.
I'm starting to think maybe some of the locals are upset about something? I'm not referring to residents btw.

What really fucks me off is the people who think they know 'all about the ride' but have yet to come to one. Keep ya farken fat face out of business that doesn't concern you! It ALSO seems we have a bunch of 'experts' who think they can run a ride, Ouuu it's the same ride at the same time every week, blah blah blah - well lets see how fucken wonderful you guys are at organizing 30+ bikes cause I cant be bothered with all criticism and no thanks anymore........ .

Disclaimer: You participate on this ride at your own risk. I will not be held accountable for anyones actions, to/from and during the ride.. Anyone who is caught endangering others by their actions will be asked to leave the ride and may be refused entry to forthcoming rides! (As we have had seen in the past)

BTW Keep ya sticky beaks out of peoples business - Noone will be posting up names of those involved. If ya want to see some action, go and watch a TV soap.
