Hey guys,

Just wondering if this is open to all if I wanted to come along for the ride and a beer after at bar africa (used to work at bar africa, I was the random bartender with the stupid mini chopper) Would be good to meet some people from KB and learn from other peoples riding styles. Think i'll avoid learning from the people doing wheel stands and standing on seats though.... Haha :doctor:

Check out what I got up to last weekend!

Quote is from DingoZ's "Holiday rides" post......

"So we pulled up in Ngawi, and hopped off the bikes. Next thing Rob comes over map in hand, frothing at the mouth, and doing little jumps, as he has seen the sign to Cape Palliser. Looks at the pair of us and says "do we mind if he goes out to the Cape", as "It would be rude not to"....Sure Rob go for it, says J2, Rob.....Rob....Nope too late he can't hear you any longer Jim, as we watched the dust ploom fade around the corner. Bloody Adventure riders.

So that left J2 and myself to have a cool drink and sit in the shade and chat, until we see's the mighty adventure rider return with a huge grin on his face. Worth the effort.....I think so..

So after Rob has a bit of a break, we saddle up again and head for Martinborough as by now the tum's are starting to growl at not being fed. So back the way we came, and into martinborough, and Toppy's for lunch. Superb as always...

Then it was home time. Back over the taka's I once again took it easy, J2 and Rob dissapeared off into the distance and waited for me at the info centre before Upper Hutt....Quick chat and off our seperate ways.

Just shy of 290km's for the day for me. Total k's on the bike now 2092..

Bloody brilliant way to spend a Saturday... "

Rob and I had a very pleasant, scenic pootle to the pub.
Dry roads, full moon, crisp freshly washed air and little traffic. What more could a man ask for.

I think the Kaukap pub might just have the nod.
Did a reverse ATNR ride last night. Road seemed so different and so much longer. Partly because I missed the turnoff and ended up at Helensville. All good tho' as it gave me a chance to do some more of it.

I hope you gave yourself the briefing, identified yourself as the leader , identified yourself as tail-end charlie and asked if there were any questions! Yeap shes a good ride in summer 50 + bikes...

in winter anywhere from 1 to 10...

just depends... alot of people are to knackered after work or just general rubbish weather...

don't speed. there are long straight and the local coppers are well onto this ride, they seem to have backed off as people are being more sensible...

but it only takes one person getting pinged at a silly speed down a straight and they will be on it like shit on a blanket.

good bunch of people to ride with also, its good to just enjoy the ride rather than attract cop trouble.

Honest Officer I couldn't have been going that fast look my average speeds only been ....

Right, report back time. What a brisk evening it was last night - perfect riding weather - (where were you pansies? :spanking: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O88k4i6pF1A ) - I am sure you all hand really good excuses :tui:

Still it was a decent turn out, there was BMW Leader guy, Old school CBR (I think) guy, Street Triple guy, Hyosang 250R guy, my Ducatti mate and Thumper. You couldn't ask for a more diverse crowd - and what a bunch of nice blokes. (Names of the innocent have been changed because I am terrible with names - no offense)

See set off into the night :chase: with 250 guy leading soon we hit some nice roads ;) It was mostly dry but occasionally there was some darker patches of road on the corners. Being new on Thumper, it was er, thrilling to say the lease, especially when I didn't know the roads

Although it was cold there wasn't time to think about that as I was concentrating hard on braking, the road surface, making usr I didn't rear end the 250 guy and staying alive. Also looked out for :Police: but they must have been hiding well in the cold night.

After some brisk riding, we stopped for a stretch to get some life into the fingers and drool over heated grips. When we were starting up Thumper gave me a scare, she wouldn't stat - but just displayed a red light with 'CHECK' on the consul :eek5: Ooh no! called over Street Tipple guy who used to have an SV and we soon discovered I had left it in gear - she had to be in neutral to start :slap:

Another short jaunt through to Africa cafe where we met up with KTM Motard guy and unknow cage driving guy for a nice dark ale and some grub and swapped war stories.

Good stuff! See you next week if its not too cold :cold:

I'll have to get some TALK LOUDER pills. Or maybe a key-chain ball-pein hammer with which to hammer home messages to the less receptive members of my acquaintance.

I know you just want to gloat when you arrive at Turangi all toastie warm and I arrive as frigid as the wife of a little man.

I suppose we can both wish for an absence of earthquakes while we are there. That should cheer me up.

Oh! and if you bring a sticky lid tube of Berocca that could really make me happiness filled. Fuck the heated grips; a repeat of your hung over performance from last year will melt any feelings of resentment, rejection, jealousy. That scene still makes me smile...
Thanks for the entertainment.

yeah but you'll get that with allot of bikes. the light on the hyo is a bit puny but if you check you'll see the switch has a third setting in the middle and you can have both brights and dip on. but in general it wont help, the headlight points in the wrong direction for corners, lol i learned to see in the dark so it doesn't phase me too much

see you all tonight. if its a small turn out again and no one minds ill be happy to lead again. i had fun last time.

i need to look into those.one of my bikes(the tiddler)is unlikely to support them due to its tiny electrical system.

The other two might be ok.I think i will get those "electric blanket"type ones,so i can ditch them for trackdays in summer etc.truth is its too dam cold to ride without them lately.:nono:

Cany help in that regard mate, as ive been guilty as sin everytime.

However, the treatment given by the cops, with the whole targetting, and singling out of motorcycles, waste of police resources etc. Oh and everytime you politely contest a charge on the roadside they wave a dangerous driving charge in your face...

Are you talking about your radar going off or seeing the number on the patrol cars unit?

NinjaNanna
14th June 2009, 10:25
One thing I was wondering is how can a police officer show up on your doorstep well after the event and issue a ticket? Technically how is it any different to a Speed Camera ticket?

Surely they have the powers to issue an infringement notice to the registered owner and then it's up to the owner to recover the fine from whom ever was riding the bike at the time? But as for demerit points how can he assert that it was you riding without the benefit of the roadside license check?

Hinny
14th June 2009, 11:15
Are you talking about your radar going off or seeing the number on the patrol cars unit?

Both really.
How many have been given the opportunity to view the recorded speed on the radar unit?
Have any others been told they were checked by radar and not had their radar detectors go off?
Have they got a new stealth unit that is undetectable?

Ive always been showed my speed by Mr Walker.
Never been ticketed since had radar. Though everytime theyve been out ive detected them - the most recent of which Instant-On was used when he was right in front of me going the other way.

I got a dangerous speed conviction in a car with a brand new valintine one radar.
Didnt make any sound. cop spins pulls me over and says hes arresting me and charging me with dangerous speed. I Said to him that rediculous. I was doing about 80 km in a 50 km/hr zone (quay street, Auckland). Asked to see it on radar and he told me he doesnt have to legally. So I went to court about it and $1500 later on lawyers fees it didnt get me anywhere. Ended up pleading quilty. Moral of the story is your word against the cops is all they need. I dont believe he even had a radar and if he did it wasnt even turned on.

They are oblidged to show the readout.
Then the next step is to ask to see the previous infringment they gave to check whether their radar was reset - but they arent oblidged to show you that.

they only add the one with the most demerits...

so do i get 25 for breach of license condition...

or will i get done on the demerits for 35 kph over... there is no offence for speeding apart from the exceeded 70kph on learners thing.... sooo is that just mandatory details to go with it or will i get the 40 demerits that go with a 35kph

that fucking asshole has raped me up to 85 demerits....

what a fuking cunt

ill get a liense alright... a fucking gun license...

then noel can host another pork spitroast.

Gutted for ya Mark.

But you should know by now, unless you are absolutely squeaky clean - correct license for speed and time that you are riding, bike all legal etc.. you do not do the ATNR.

Over 70kph on learners...

But the question on everybodies lips is, "Did you insist on seeing the speed readout on the radar and did he let you see it?"

If he didn't, then surely your expert lawyer who isn't a 'tard can get you off.

Surely this is a pisstake?
I really can't believe that someone who's only just got his licence back after such a long time, would risk jeopardising it by not carrying his licence and riding in a way to attract attention to himself.

I followed him for quite a long way and was impressed by his behaviour.
He rode without cause for complaint. Within the law at all times. Good lines through corners, cautious and safe interactions with other vehicles on the road.
I can see how easy it would be to get pinged for exceeding a temporary speed limit on the motorway. Every Thursday night they have the road blocked off somewhere or other with varying speed limits. Sometimes down to 30kph. Who drives within those limits? The only one I have seen has been myself because I am gun shy when out on an ATNR ride When Ginga is around, if you are on a bike, you will be the one he will target.

I don't think riding at 105kph on the motorway should be regarded as 'in a way to attract attention to yourself'.
It certainly would be a hell of a lot safer than trying to ride on an Auckland motorway at 70kph. That would be lunacy. A quick way to get hurt or killed.

From the Urban dictionary.
ginga

A ginger or red headed person who displays an inability to control emotions and a bad temperament. Gingas frequently explode into self destructive fits of impotent rage and under no circumstances will they ever back up their pathetic outbursts with violence. The defective gene which has tainted their hair colour so unattractively has also stained their personailty red so they always act like a 'bitch on her rags'.
Shit! I just passed through a ginga's shadow. I better go home and scrub myself with bleach!
