Don't know if it's been said or no... but if you are on point make sure you are easily visible to the stream of bikes that need to see you. Sitting 20m around the corner is a bit fucken late when a bike goes past you, closely followed by the bikes behind them.

I understand there was a case (or two?) or people leaving the corner before Tail End Charlie came through too. For those that are new(ish) to the ride - this causes ab-so-lute mayhem.

People go missing, get lost, we're not sure if anyone's lying in a gutter somewhere and it makes life absolute hell for those organising it (That'd be the quickies by the way... huge huge HUGE ups to them for that).

I recon anyone on point going AWOL has to buy one food platter for the table at the far end. Lessons get learned and us poor hungry bikers get a feed...

Shame hubby and I couldn't make it yesterday for the ride, as it had a good turn out. But it was great catching up with "the mad house lot" afterwards at the pub.

*and Frosty gives great hugs :D, and Big Dog gives the best piggy back rides :niceone:*

So many new faces though :shit:.

I hope to be able to ride out with you all next week, then go on to have some drinkies for Mack.

Well said MDU. :yeah: As I said at the midway re-group, if you do not want to participate and do pointer duty you might as well f#$k off from the ride as you are letting down the rest of the group! The pointer system works very well - it stops riders getting lost and helps locate accidents or breakdowns.... and dont think that I never take note of who was supposed to be at those points....

Some riders did have trouble spotting the pointers due to their position on the road. Keep in the back of your mind when get to point, that if you were to come around the corner - would you see them where you are sitting now?

However there were 80% new riders on the ATNR last night and we did 70% new route so even with a few hiccups I think things went very well considering we had 38 bikes...............

On another note:

What did everyone think of the route last night? Boring or good? (Becides the Road Works - but they were everywhere!) Still open to peoples comments via PM - if you know of a good road let me know and we will see if it can be included into the ATNR.

Thanks for the ride guys n gals - Will be trying another new route next Thursday.......

It's actually better when you're in the right place too because you get the best seat in the house. You can see the stream of bikes pouring up tot he intersection, then powering away. I think it looks great!

Was a great ride last night Qkchk. Thanx.... Oh I miss the ATNR.....
Glad I can come up and do it from time to time.
Was disappointed not seeing more of the older crowd on the ride . Mostly newbies. Was a great route tho......
The Road works was a bit hair-raising near Albany. Didn't realise they were there until on top of the gravel.

Actually it ainst so much newbees--as you lot havent turned up for awhile :spanking:
One Thing I'd just like to add --JORJA was on a lil 225. I was riding ultra conservative sticking to posted speeds etc. Jorja stayed with me the whole time. Then we got to the gravel bits and her dirt riding experience came in.
She was Catching up with much bigger bikes
And this for a ATNR virgin --and only her second ride on that bike
Brought a tear to me eye it did

Take the sweepers at 110 ull get ur knee down have fun if thats your thing etc... let alone some of the other bits, I'd be impressed if anyone could hold a constant 80 through some of those twisties. my 2c.

There's two options, they go like this:

1) Turn up
2) Have a nice cruise through the countryside
3) Finish up at pub to talk shit before heading home.

Or the other option which people seem to like taking:

1) Turn up
2) Ride like a knob and lose licence
3) Too embarrased to turn up at pub.

I generally pick the first one.

Reading Page 1 of this thread sums it up quite nicely. Don't endanger anyone else on the ride and you are responsible for your own actions. All is explained at the pre-ride briefing on the night. As said above - Come and try, if you dont like what you see.......well, its up to you.

Unbreakable rules for ATNR. --DON'T go OHH shit the lead rider went down the wrong road --and try to pass 30 other bikes to get to her.Especially not on a 27 odd horsepower nekkid twin thats seen better days.
Dont whilst trying to catch the lead rider actually PASS her as she is marking a point.
DONT spend half an hour wondering why in heck you CANT catch said lead rider whilst being chased by a green kawasaki 636.
DON'T think to yaself--"heck Ill give him a run for his money" on said 27 HP no fork oil bucking bronco.
Dont be embarresed when you realise NOONE is actually in front of you except for that dratted 636.
NEVER say--OHH that rain clouds gonna miss us.
And most of all NEVER EVER tell a ZX10 owner that ya thought his bike was a 636 --cos first chance he gets he'll shower ya in tyre rubber and road sand/grit
Yep Had a bllody good time.27 hp is all I can deal with --but shit it was more fun than a barrel full of monkeys

Had to overshoot the corner..takng the bunch with me. I know it was the right road choice to make but you could have used a little more tack to inform us that you had a direct line to the weather gods rather than trying to sweep us before you like some sort of two wheeled bulldozer.

Really enjoyed the ride, first half was great roads (until Peak which is license losing material), and decided to head home to fix daughters car from Dairy Flat and got the Noahs Ark treatment going over Albany Hill, then Carl showed up for the drag off contest in Albany but all lights green, revenge will have to wait, and detoured direct to pub, didnt pass go (and no $200), but was best choice seeing the rag dolls arrive from second half.
Thanks Dawn for good night (daughters car can wait!!)
Keith, you are riding well, tho license could be a slim grip, about time you moved up to a Suzy, your going well, and Neil, you too.

They maybe good on the water but the Honda F1 cars really suck :Pokey::2thumbsup

Their return to racing has certainly not been that successful but then neither has any manufacturer who tried to build a car themselves, in the last twenty five years, with the sole exception of Ferrari. All other cars were built by those clever Poms. Similarly the Cart cars and WRC rally cars.
You cannot deny the success Honda enjoyed when they were last involved in F1 racing. Honda engines were considered the ticket to Grand Prix glory due to their power, reliability, and winning track record. Honda supplied its engines to six constructor champions, as well as five driver championships in a ten year period.
Their time may come again as a car constructor not just an engine supplier.
Remember their road cars used to have fantastic engines but really suck in the handling department. There is no argument they have sorted that. Witness James Toseland on a 600 trying to race a Civic Type R and getting toasted thru' the twisties.

Pre not post pub drags.
Fairly ungracious to not admit that you were totally wasted by a 16 yr old Touring bike.

Hey, the booze up planned for work this Thurs has been postponed, so I'm free to come along this week. Hopefully another hen party booze bus will turn up at the pub.

When does daylight saving finish? Do we want to go further afield if it's the last ride with daylight for a while?
Um it would be a bit better if the hens turned up a bit earlier than last week, that way the foxes stand a better chance....

In brief:
SH16 - good, fading light,
Woodcocks, raining half way thru, spoiled it a bit, dried up towards end, Warkworth pub, not bad, stayed for 1
SH1 back to Albany - excellent, being in the bike 'train'
Bar Africa - noone there except for Warkworth stragglers, stayed for second one

Dunno about others but I'm finding the Peak Rd section a crazy, over testosteroned scramble, its always the same, before and after are good. Doesnt help I think when the rider group keeps changing week to week.
Contemplating giving up on the ride and joining the straight to pub brigade... (yeah I know Carl - HTFU)

Personally I have always found the food pretty good at all the ale houses I have been to around the country, an I dont think the beer is all that cheap either, just average prices for a pint.

I thought the ale house kicked everyone out in the first place....

Ale House did not kick us out, the bar manager on a Thursday changed and we were no longer being looked after (free food, our own little room when it wasnt being used by paying functions, etc). Bar Africa started looking after us when we first arrived but now they are no better than what the Ale House were (just they seem to charge a little more for some things)
