I probably can't get to the 7pm leaving time now. Need to give the car a clean, as I'm just about to sell it. Might try and pop along to the pub.

I would like to have come along, but alas I have managed to get a contagious eye infection, so I'm in isolation till Monday. :(

Now I'm just trying to figure out if I need to do something to try and kill the bacteria that are probably in my helmet.

I think you need to be capable of doing the speed limit which on the open road is 100 km/h however on a learners license you are not supposed to go faster than 70 km/h.

I think in the past, some riders have been pulled over by the police for various infractions including not adhering to learner license conditions. The risk is yours.

I have not been on the ATNR for quite a while however I am hoping to tag along this evening. If the route is the old usual one - then I know where to go so I'd be happy to cruise along and you can follow me. Unfortunately, if the route is a different one then you will be dependent upon the TEC (Tail End Charlie) waiting for you to catch up at various intersections etc.

The old route can be quite twisty in sections and if you are not confident riding at night then I would suggest avoiding this ride until daylight savings starts as many sections of the road have no street lighting at all.

Just my two bits worth!

If you aren't just taking the piss and are serious about wanting to be a copper, then you are an idiot for riding outside of your license conditions.

You get pulled over once and it's bye bye :bye: police career.

Worse still the only excuse you have is laziness - get off your arse and go and sit your restricted.

Not true! Do you really think that all cops are straight shooters? There's a big difference between getting a breach of licence conditions and having a serious criminal record.

I have a mate who was pulled over in taupo for some outright dangerous driving.
Said mate asked the cop whether it would harm his chances of getting into the police force, cop let him go :)

Come and visit the beautiful Hazard County!

Home of rolling hills, Surf beaches, Twisty roads, silly open road speed limits, and of course, it is New Zealands Premier Police District.

Hazard county (some people know it as Rodney) is located just north of New Zealands capital City, Auckland, and encompasses such glorious destinations as Helensville, Dairy Flat and parakai.

The main attraction of Hazard in recent times is due to the activities of a creature known as Ginga. There is mass debate over the number of Gingas, but most reports suggest one or two exist in the area. No other sightings of this species have been made anywhere else in New Zealand!

Although its taxynonymy status is uncertain, it is thought by some that despite being a New Zealand native species, Hazard's Gingas could indeed be closely related to European Gingas - but without the cross breeding with leprechauns.

Reports on its behavior however are sparse, but it does seem more active at night. It also has been known to venture outside of hazard, but the sources of this information are yet to be confirmed.

Behaviour witnessed thus far (from credible Hazard experts) Include: Entrapment, Bribery, Blackmail, bullying and lying.

WARNING!
Data suggests that Ginga's are actually caring creatures! If you are travelling too fast for its liking, regardless of speedlimits, it will punish you for your own protection! This is highly unadvisable as there is little chance for escape - it is very resourceful and will call upon its pack of minions to catch you via roadblocks in a cost efficient and constructive use of police time.

Hazard County Tours run weekly, departing Westgate Shell station at 7pm every thursday.
You can be assured that a Hazard expert will be on hand as your guide. Enjoy the scenery, and if very lucky, a Ginga sighting may occur.

Providing you have the balls and horsepower, and Ginga does not know you or your bike [notice I did not say 'taken note of your licence plate'-Hazzard county coppers are happy to lie], doing a runner is not to hard. Many participants on the ATNR [and Hazzard county pilots] have successfully left gasping commodore police cars in their wake.

Have a good ride people and keep an eye on your bike.

Also the Tauranga Thursday Night Ride has been hijacked buy over zealous mods and has been sent to PD http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=24981

I cant believe why and how they have done this, I asked what was up in the senior members section and got an interesting reply http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=30901&page=29 if your not a senior member you wont be able to see the thread and I dont think I should quote from there.

But I got from the reply is that the mods seem more concerned about people getting their post count numbers up by posting in the ride thread, (who cares) so it was moved to rant and rave....(no post count recorded)
They (Mods) sited it was to hard for new members to get the correct ride information from the thread, what a load of crap in my opinion,

This bunch of people are one of the most active riders on the site and although there may be some crap (humorous and light hearted) on the thread at least these people are out riding.

I guess KB is more about the internet than riding bikes.

Morcs
11th November 2009, 11:50
We rarely go through there unless we go upto warkworth occaisionally...

I emailed them anyway with a pretty standard argument.

Hi,

I am a motorcyclist, and naturally I am biased and disagree with the toll...

But, I believe motorcyclists shouldn't have to pay the toll because:

*Smaller carbon footprint, better for the environment
*Doesn't contribute to traffic jams
*Doesn't have any wear effect on the road surface itself, whereas cars and trucks do - supporting the fact that they should be paying for the road.

We all know how bad the traffic can get on that section of road in summer as people flock north on the weekends.

Personally If I had to pay a toll, Id use the convenience of my car - thus increasing my carbon footprint, adding to the traffic, and the eventual deterioration of the road.

Regards,

Bikes written off:
QKCHK = 0
INDIAN TIGER = Is it 3 or 4 now Raj, I've lost count?

Perhaps I should of thrown gravel at your bike when you were parked up, just to return the favor eh? :finger:

Becides the marbles at the start of Woodcocks, it was quite a pleasant ride. Made some noise as me and QKKID rode through Johnsons tunnel (for free while it lasts). However the ride back home from the pub was an interesting one.........

Oye I passed you carefully so pls no bs! I think u might be getting a Ho-Bag confused with an R1? Impossible.

bikes written off is only 2, and the first one didn't count!

The Sth Akl Thursday Ride folk are thinking about coming your way this week.

Now that Nick Smith has clearly said that rises to the levies WILL go ahead, it seems time to ramp the protests up.

The National/ACT Govt always knew they would not get away with 300% increases: that was nothing but a starting point for what they actually expect: 100-200% increases.

As far as I'm concerned, NO increase is the target and we will have to back that message up in the media. Given that the media and govt have largely ignored us between events, we have to start engaging in action that grabs media attention so those bargaining for us can secure complete elimination of this unfair rise.

So, that being the case, I have already started a thread to generate ideas on how to LEGALLY disrupt New Zealand and gain publicity for the cause.
I, and some of my fellow SATNR riders would like to come and talk with you about this action.

We will decide online and on the night but I'd say it is probable that our Thursday night ride will be to meet you people.

For a starter, take a look at the thread:
http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=112498

Note: BRONZ have made it quite clear that their organisation cannot condone illegal or disruptive action. I understand that and agree. BRONZ however, CAN use the LEGAL but disruptive actions of many riders to push our cuase.

Take a look at some of the ideas posted and lets have a discussion.
