We did the Maraetai Run last night. At a nice pace. Flowing lines. Sorry you weren't with us Funrunna.
Then a bit of tight turning at slow riding. That was a good workout.

This morning, on my ride to work, I got soaked. I was wearing my one-piece-exo-condom which protected my jacket and pants but my gloves, boots and helmet are sodden.

I really didn't feel like wearing all that wet shit again for tonight's ride.

At least it wasn't raining for y'all huh.

No rain for us.
We just had a pootle thru Twilight Road to the car park
Then decided to go home before we did get wet.

Hope I get to ride this Wednesday! Just read that tbs has a new bike!
Did a loop of the East Cape on Saturday (1100km for the day) and am definitely doing that again over the real summer. That stretch from Gisborne to Opotiki was in the rain so need to go back and do it in the dry :woohoo:

Got a telling off for excess corner speed (I may or may not have been trying to get a knee down) and having alcohol on my breath. And then L plate after 10.

Heya fellow SASSians...took my bike in for a service this morn seeing that my chain was as loose as bat guano on Weds. Parked her up in the garage after ride night. Pronouncement-Loose chain yep, but on closer inspection twas deduced ma chain was FUBRd, so had it replaced before imminent problems. There were stones lodged under the front too. I went to two diff bike shops for opinions, both concurred bout chain. Anyhow, somewhat sorted for the mean time. Choked on having to fork over but needs must...now ready for a pootle up north...Whangaroa here i come. Glorious day today...

Good stuff Maakz, I bet your bike rides way nicer now, that old chain you had on it was like chewing gum.

On Thursday I got some work done on my bike too. New PR3 tyres on the front and back, new chain, new brakepads and a new WOF.

I gave the rear tyre a good seeing off

Was a nice pootle...finished off with a hot choccy and a gas bag...awesome.

After humming and harring bout the state of the weather, the weather Gods came through for me today...sunshine and good drivers. Oh BTW...got my FULL 6F today at lunchtime, did it through Manukau AA. Not as bad as i had pictured in my mind, even got complimented on my road position, lines & defensive driving-BIG UPS to SASS for that. Assessor even brought out the lads to check the bike out afterward, the pseudo Harley strikes again lol... Be awhile before i can afford my 'grown ups' bike, so atleast i won't stress about turning into a pumpkin after 10pm now...even though i prob look like one on agent orange lol...good stuff and all is right with the world.

When I did my full test the instructor criticized my road positioning. He couldn't understand why I would want to ride round the outside of the bends. I explained the concept of maximizing my sight lines, but he just didn't get it.

Anyway, I'm coming along tonight. I have to make a quick delivery at Ardmore on the way, so if I'm a few minutes late then please wait for me.

Trying to fit in lots of riding.
Totally different ball game now.
When I take off I have to pick my feet up and forward, Not just let them drag and find the pegs.
I have to hold the handlebars firmly as the torque is instant.
I don't have to change down a gear or two to pass, just twist the wrist.
Rather laid back.
A bit more chrome than I was looking for
A decent-sized petrol tank so I don't have to worry about refuelling at every station I come across

He is strengthening the wrists by riding the Heritage a bit. We have ridden over the new Kopu Bridge a couple of weeks ago. On the way home he rode the CBR while I rode the Heritage.

He was pleasantly surprised that his wrists could handle the sports bike.

But he hasn't taken out the ZX12R yet.

Just let me know if you need someone to take the ZX out to blast the cobwebs off. It's very dangerous to leave them alone or unridden for more than a few weeks. I won't even charge you anything for my services.

So, met some friends for a run to Kawhia food festival. Tentative in the going but soon settled into a groove. Concerned about the twisties, but Mellow Yellow goes into them like a dream. Getting used to the wide arms, and they make the countersteer that much easier. Very self conscious in that all eyes watch and wait for the chick to mess up, had an almost o shit moment when trying to manoeuvre the bike down a slope bank and got stuck, so had to reverse and rev to get up whilst not doing a slide plant and or rev into a crash. That was in front of pub garden bar full with people, luckily pulled it off and regrouped. Crisis averted.

However, pootling along, get to Whatawhata and stop, then try to start the bike up and ...she's dead...WTF...just filled up 15clicks back...what gives? So i check, my buddies check? We give it 10 mins, then try again. Kill switch-all good, petrol-yes...pulled key out a few times then try start her up. Hoorah, she starts. Boys reckon the taggy thing flappin in the wind somehow messed with bikes feng shui, but petrol icon on the consol came on, checked petrol and opened fuel cap to double check-yes it had petrol. Quandary-should i be alarmed. All in all, happy with how MY performs, but def need more experience, i'm still wary of the throttle and torque. ARGHHHH...pesky road works at various intervals along the route from Ngaruawahia to Kawhia, well...on one particular stretch bloody car kicked up gravel and flung it at my precious. So now i have a scratch on one of the pipes from where it caught the bike...goddamn it. Saw it coming in slow mo too, but there was nothing i could do..My precious...NNNOOOOOOooooo

Tomorrow gunna ride with blue to call on Maha and Mom, then perhaps head up to Waitangi with some buddies, get in some ride time with M.Y.

Hey y'all
Caseye-did both for ya, and will accept that my precious is gonna get some wing dings...in fact...i shall come to that one later on in the piece. Chuckle material i tell ya. Sis-i like Buttercup, but have taken to using Mellow Yellow...seems to fit. Nzspokes-i hope ur pootle went ok, ribs? Still in recovery mate?

So, i met blue-maha and a couple others Sunday and went for a ride round Dairy Flats/Woodcocks. Then met some buddies in Wellsford then headed up to Waitangi. Nice ride, roads have been done up real nice. Funny being the girl with a whole bunch of fullaz, def get some double looks from cars/peops on the town streets and at gas stations. KRACK UPs. I decided to gap it from Waitangi to go tiki touring solo that evening, whilst the guys did there thing-went round Whangaroa Puketi ways-lovely lovely. We headed back to Aukz this avo, as luck would have it, poured down upon leaving Waitangi, but boys took a lazy cruz home, so all good. HOWEVER, my buddies reckon there's something up with Mellow Yellow, idling funny and perhaps a in need of a clutch adjustment? When i accellerate apparently the can hear over revs, and i can feel it when i throttle on, is it supposed to do that or am i doing something incorrectly...Sis? They reckon it doesn't sound quite right, but that it's prob not too serious...dunno...Not sure if its the way um riding or the bike itself-what to do..Taupos this weekend...hmmmmm worries aside, exhilerated to have arrived home safe and sound without major O shite moments to report...except...we get to Warkworth and we're filtering, and i'm getting through without any probs...then...go through a que and PING...the mirrors just ping a cars passenger mirror...slowed at the lights slightly up from car, i turn around and gesticlate my profuse apologies wildly (couple in the car wave me on and just smile-thankyou lord and understanding jack and jill public) and mentally slap myself for forgetting about the wide westerns i now sport. ARGHHHH !!!!!!!!! But literally a ping sound, just nicked it, upon reaching home and cleaning my precious after angsting about it all the way home, i take a look and it only has the barest graze. But it was hilarious, wee ping...damnit forgot. So tired now...but just had to get on here to letchaz know. Love Mellow Yellow.

If they had tried mine, they would have got a sharp alarm sound as it goes off even when stood up off the stand. But also there is a little alarm flashing sign.

And they didn't take my tennis balls this time. Maybe they decided that they had enough from the previous time. If we sit outside we will be able to keep an eye on the bikes.

hi there, I've been on my learners for years... about 6 years! And my old GN250 has just got a new WOF and rego after standing in my dad's garage for a year, so my skills are a bit rusty. Was wondering if this event will be on next week?

Ideas on where to go, remember this will be the last ones of daylight savings.

My idea for tonight is to meet at the Z station then practise group riding out through Hunua to the coast then up through the back way to Clevdon and to the pub about the normal time. This will be weather permitting.

Let me know if your coming.

Diff riding position and compact front consol had me temporarily vexed but sweet commute and highway blatts once i got ma comfy on. Only thing annoying, kill swith position and wind factor. Have you sat on one? Really tight leg position. I like me CBX still for town, ride it once a week to go get my kids. It beats the Ninja for round town hands down. So easy to split on. I think for commuting 250 is fine.

Yeap, make that kill switch...and oh, i was offered it for a couple days so decided what the hang and took up the offer. Have wanted to try one out and see how it compares, oh i'm def a cruiser kinda girl but gotta exercise the feminine perogative to switch it up now and then. Quite taken with the GT and felt the need to understand the differences between bikes more, understand the perspective other riders get as they ride and the mechanics of the ride/how the bike handles under varied conditions. My brain meanders are beginning to manifest themselves; when i start overthinking, crazy $hit happens...not buying a new entry level bike...don't worry Black Bird.lol;) Luv A.O & MY. Spokey, i've had one for the day but give it back tommorrow, AOs great round town, must say the GTs better to split on, leg positions not as bad as i thought it would be. Adapted to it well, but am a bit short on it, tippy toes..NOT a chance i'm turning to the dark side, i'm def a CRUISER admirer an avowed rider. OMG i didn't realise motu was code for fingers, that's not the emoticon i was goin for, how rude!

Maakz - GT250N's fairly nice but personally I found it too tight for leg space (but I'm a tall fella anyway) and it felt a bit gutless (though the one I tried was an old one). Maybe come Oct if and when LAMS comes into effect, you and I can pick up a 250 naked sports for cheap... :blip:

Collecting, sounds like someone tall we all know? GT was a 2011, i've only ridden cruisers so was way different for me. Compared to the braking on my hyo the GT felt more response for less effort, which surprised me...was dubious about squishing ma derriere in there but fit the wee black work horse no probs BUT wish i was taller. I'll come shopping with ya on collecting expedition Tigadee, awww birthday for the lil ones-sweet. AWS-yup, been mighty fine riding weather all week, bummer nobody turned up.
