Thanks Sis, yeah, I've been a stranger over the last year haven't I. I'm definitely keen to get back into SASS but I'm just not keen if it's raining. Crossing my fingers for next week :)
As for my new ride, I got it yesterday and I had to ride it home in the pouring rain on Anzac-eve traffic from the city. I did not enjoy it. Man, I'd forgotten how painful riding a sportsbike is. Here's a pic, kudos to anyone who can guess the model

It's been three weeks since the last sessh, I can't even remember!
I think it was stuff (some slow speed) like one-handed slaloms/cornering, riding within a tight gap (simulating lane-splitting), hill starts, tight U-turns, etc.

Ok, peeps.
I am looking for some volunteers to help me with my CBTA1 (Competency Based Training and Assessment) trials. I need about 20 riders.
These riders would IDEALLY have been riding for a few months, and be near the Restricted Licence test standard, but if they are higher or lower, or on any bike licence, I can use them as well.
If you have had some training, or not, that's ok too.
If you are interested in helping to make the roads safer for motorcyclists, then please contact me to make a booking.
My approved test route is in the Rodney area..
You might be asking yourself, "What's in it for me?"
Several benefits really......
A chance to have an honest assessment of where your riding is at, at the moment..(on a bike, you don't get a second chance to get that overtaking/cornering manoeuvre correct)
Secondly, the chance to help make our roads safer for those who love to have the wind in your hair, and the flies in your teeth ;-)......
And each participant will be entered into a draw, for the chance to win a SUPER DUPER PRIZE PACK....
Can I please ask you to share this with your biking mates, or on the walls of groups, such as Mag New Zealand, Facebook bikers, New Zealand Motorbike Riders, other KB forums, so I can get a broad range of riders through the assessment.
If anyone would like to undertake some training prior to the assessment, then please contact me, sooner,, rather than later...
www.rcsom.co.nz or rcsom@xtra.co.nz or PM me, through FB or KB
My cell phone number is: 021 269 3246. 0800 4 LESSON

I'm confident enough to get to the Z, but I'm not sure about going for a ride around the area as I'm not too familiar with it. I really want to practice my slow speed stuff so a car park session would be wonderful to start with.
We're on a bit of a budget so I avoid eating out. I also need to feed my partner - he tends to forget to eat if I don't feed him :)

No worries, it is a LEARNER-friendly ride, so no fast stuff, no difficult routes... Just riding with people who've got your back and can give you some friendly feedback.

Easy to polish if they are stainless. Or wrap them with exhaust tape for more powa.

How did those grip puppy things work out?
If they were stainless they wouldnt have rusted out.....

29th May 2013, 08:24
How did those grip puppy things work out?
Very well. I'd recommend them for reducing vibration through the handlebars and a larger diameter for gripping (less tiring than a standard thin/narrow grip). Basically sponge-like neoprene tubes slipped on to the grip, very tight so you don't need glue.
If they were stainless they wouldnt have rusted out.....
Apparently the stainless were more guards than actual pipe, so there were actually two - A stainless on the outside and a standard steel on the inside and somehow the one inside rusted away till you could hear it really well. It also rattled around inside the stainless outside tube.
He didn't have enough dosh to fit in a new stainless and not for an old bike like this, so he opted for a standard steel pipe painted matt black. That was a shame since this bike looks good with the chrome but at least the 'new' black pipes matched the engine.

Was aiming on coming tonight but started feeling a little under the weather riding into work this morning, so it might pay for me to sit out this week.
I've come a couple times before, almost a year ago actually, so don't expect anyone to remember me. Used to ride a blue Ninja 250. On a blue VTR now.
Will hopefully be along next week. If anyone is planning on going for a ride on the weekend flick me a PM on here before the end of Friday. Always keen for a ride with fellow southies!

Had one of those moments tonight , had to go to te awamutu and back today ( well kih kihi just bout ) ride down was cold but mint , the ride home not so much . Left round 10.30ish bout 15 minute in to the ride home and the ninja rain comes out to play ( fine rain blocks out the visor in bout 5-10 minutes , but stings like shit if the visor is up - ninja rain ) out on the open road visor half up looking for a street light to pull over to get my wets on . Now i have A hoody , leather jacket , poly waistcoat , rain jacket , high viz on they are pushing the back of my helmet up , ninja rain , dark as . And some fog as well got my arse home but feel like i leveled up or some thing . Lol and some people think we are mad riding in the rain , nar we do it to level up =D

Glad ya made it made back home in one piece mate Ninja rains not fun. The levelling is prob just ur self preservation instincts kicking in upon reflection. Least ur not scared of the rain but have a healthy respect for the hazards that come with riding in the rain - and kudos for having gear for the weather conditions. Be well out there yáll. Won't be at SASS tomorrow, heading to Cambridge...and hoping weathers nice to me but if not then the trench coat and oxfords are comin out. Peace out yáll.
