Shot down from Tauranga down through Pyes pa rd, then headed out past Hamurana, Mourea, Lake Rotoiti, Lake Rotoma, Stopped at Whakatane for some KFC, then back again.

Too bad about the straights nearing Whakatane, but there were some great sets of twisties, not sure whether that was the route taken in one of Sauls videos?, the one with the er6n; (Trying to find where that was).

Overall a wicked ride, cept for the 2 rear wheel lockups because of kicking up the pace a little too high. :o

It could have been from over that way but we have done a few runs through the conecting Hikawai and over the Tairua hill mate (check out the kauri inone of the clips)

Did the Kopu gp today (with some good guys) and the road through there is just nasty:bye: the heat is making the road melt and there are places where the road is patchy asssssssss. The connecting road has pea metal and gravel in unexpected places, no signage.

I met a girl in Whakatane, and have been driving down every weekend (3hrs!), so this move works out great. Anyhow...point of this is that I'll be riding around Tauranga looking for some good haunts. You're a legend Annette...12000km before your first feet change! Damn, I have only done 3500 on the Strada's but was telling Sir D I havent been on the bike as much as I would like with competitions and the holiday season BUT will be making up for the lost time soon enough.

I will be taking up Sir D's advice regarding my next tire and give the PP's a go, they certainly sound like the shizzle!!!

It was a bit of a punt as the bat was dead so I couldn't see how many k's she had or what the engine ran or if it even did run.

A few clues though, no lose of any fluids. Front brake pads still have lots of meat on them Rad looked really fresh.

I thought that she had done about 17 -20K when I saw her filthy and scummy. When I fired her up the engine was so sweet and the she has 7.5 k on the clock.

Work in progress of course and will take me a while.

Even though I did hear someone (she will remain namless, rides a little 600 honda) say that she thought the colour was boring and other stuff like that:eek: I know I'm gonna have a great time with her.:love:

Makes the 636 feels like its got a big fat tank lol.

Just a quick thumbs up to Police for Policing the bus/bike lane on Hewletts Road this arvo.

After a week in Gisborne then Napier and driving about 1500k's in the car (grrr) I had to go into work, so hopped on the bike about 4pm. I was glad I did - Hewletts Road was packed solid heading to Tga so I head off down the bus lane and some prick in a 4 wheel drive cuts in front of me near Strata, and pulls the finger in the rear view mirror at the same time.

I sit on his ass and as we come up to Totara Street a HP car pulls out and into the bus lane behind me, red and blues flashing...

I turn around and shrug my shoulders as if to say "me?". The cop shakes his head and points to the 4x4 and I pull over. The cop pulls over the 4x guy, who looks right pissed off. HA!

Love those lanes :) I get dirty looks all the time from stationary cages when using them, feeling smug as I cruise along, hand on hip, whistling away lol.

Oh and as for what I was up to Saturday for the others that asked, The 12 was easier to ride out of town and the 9 was easier in town. The 9 felt far twitchier and unstable on the open road, go figure since it's more or less the same frame.

Also, does anyone know why the rear brake on just about all the Buells have no give in them what-so-ever? It's like pressing down on the peg instead of the brake with the same amount of braking as from just letting off the throttle...

Well the started out nicely with me giving Kiwifruit the learn on the way to Spuds lol... Couldnt fix motor problem so I was on a GSXR 568 TRIPLE :spanking:

Seeing as there weren't any AMAC(©Kornholio industries) riders with us I promptly went and binned my bike in retaliation coming down the Coro hill... picked it up and carried on....got to Coroglen fer lunch and had a bit of a chin wag there and carried on down down to Whangamata

Then a cop walks in and tells us he had a complaint about riding down the footpath and scaring people, so he gave us a gentle reminder about not being allowed to be parked on footpath and carried on :blink:

Was nice overcast weather all day (not melting the tar) apart from getting the learn from multiple Hondas (Girlygirl included :spanking: ) it was a bloody good day, Kiwifruit, the numb nuts thought he would cheat and go the other way to beat us to Coroglen

Good company, cold beer and dry roads made it an awesome day

My 1984 GPZ is making some god awful rattly engine noises, mainly around 3000rpm on acceleration. Not long after buying it I took it into Smiths in Durham Street for a carb balance and general tickle up (I bought it from there) and asked about the engine noise and was told it was one of the quietest GPZ's he's heard and they all make noise...

Well this evening it sounded really rough and my son (who was on the back) says it sounds like a stone's in the engine.

I'd welcome any suggestions from you guys, especially anyone who can suggest where to take it for an honest listen and suggestion as to what to do / how much it will cost (I'm not allowed to spend much $$$ on bikes till we get a new couch, apparently !)

Not long after buying it I took it into Smiths in Durham Street for a carb balance and general tickle up (I bought it from there) and asked about the engine noise and was told it was one of the quietest GPZ's he's heard and they all make noise...

I don't know a lot about bike's but cam belt tensioner comes to mind?

I once owned a mighty GPZ back in the day, twas only the 600 tho. Sounds like ya cam chain there fulla - no biggy, nothing but time an coin will fix.

I pulled the tensioner off a few months ago, checked it out, still had plenty of push, put it back in after depressing it and holding it in place with the screw till it was back in position, so it's probably the chain or other bits inside. At least you can get to it easily on this bike, not like the CX that I had to remove the motor and crack the case to get to the cam chain ...

I TOO HAD A GPZ BUT 900 WHEN THEY WERE NEW I THINK THEY WERE ONE OF THE FIRST MUTI'S TO HAVE THE CAM CHAIN ON ONE SIDE AND USED TO GO THROUGH CHAINS AND TENSIONERS IN LESS THEN 10K SO IF THE KHMS ARE GETTING UP ABIT IT'S A GOOD BET.EASY FIX LIKE YOU SAID.
