I can see why you lot don't do this at the moment. If it's not raining, there's mist; if the roads aren't wet, there are roadworks; if the oncoming cars aren't forgetting to dip their lights, they're hugging the centreline a lil' too close for my liking... Ah well, at least there was a nice, big moon out there lighting the way. :scooter:

Usually like to be there at about 60 615 pm for a 7pm ride off.
Normally ride for a good hour or so, never really measured how far. Most often end up at a hostilery soemwhere to wheet the whistle and then all head home fromthere.
Weather and family dependant I might even make it out this week, have to talk nice to the wife to see if i can borrow her new(Old) bike.
Will try, have missed the road on 2 wheels something chronic.

I knew I could trust you to enter into the spirit of the thing.Truth is mate, we'll leave the Bee Pee and go down to the Drury on off ramp and head back Norf to the Takanini off ramp, from whence we shall slowly commute down The great South Road all the way through Takannini, through the papakura, and on to Drury at a sedate pace with hopefully lotsa! scooters etc in tow, those who can't ride on the motorway see.
Also gives the locals a chance to see a couple of hundred or more bikes in one place at once.

I remember the Shinkoes on the Hyo requiring a little more attention in the wet. Dry cowshit on the roads appears to get rather slippery with a bit of drizzle as well — Suzi's back wheel got very slippy crossing that bridge on Mangatangi Road. And hey, now you know your tank range!
... Turkey?
Eye don't get it.
Leading the pack in the dark on the way home, came up over a rise to immediately discover a turkey in the middle of the lane facing us, head cocked, one eye staring at Suzi's headlight on full beam.
Adjusted my line and passed it (closely) on the left. The thing must've shit itself with 3 big, bright, noisy lights whizzing past it like that.

Ok thanks for that Hiss, i read the discussion forum and to be honest it sounds a bit vague, people not going or not knowing for sure if they will turn up, I dont know how many peeps you normally have at your ride nights, it seems a more deffo arrangement at the south ride so unless i hear from you and your group otherwise I will stick with my original plan. :ride:

To be honest I've only done a couple so far, but it sounds like there's always at least 4-5 people (occasionally only 1 or 2, but rarely). Plenty of Summer left so mayas well go on as many different rides as possible.... I think the Southies have a sat ride , and we have a Sunday ride. Anyway, no dramas :D

Well, we got to The BP at Papakura for 18:04, :sweatdrop worried that we were a tad late met one solitary biker called Martin, AKA Jafar, we waited til gone ten to seven only for no-one else to turn up, :zzzz: so we ventured out on a twistie road for about 40 kms, stopping twice, once to check out a view and again to stop a local bike haunt that looked from the outside like a western type saloon. :2guns:
We then took off again down Pioneer Road til we got to the The Village Bar & Kitchen where there was a Hot Rod evening. :ride:
We stayed there and chatted for about an hour before heading back and unfortunately getting absolutely soaked while riding through some major rain showers and hail storms, ( that'll teach me to clean my f**king Blade i thought ). :angry2:
So ! So much for me turning up to the South Auckland ride as it seemed that it was more planned and that more people would be turning up rather than going to the North Auckland night, but at least the evening was saved by the thoroughly nice bloke ( Martin ) that we met, even if the night ended up being a total washout.
Thanks mate. :niceone:
Cheers.

Route:
Turn off southern Mway at Drury. Turn right and ride under Mway onto Karaka Rd. Turn 1st left on Great South Rd and then right onto Runciman Rd.
Follow Runciman rd to its end and turn left on Pukekohe East Rd/Mill Rd and turn right after a couple of kms onto Harrisville Rd. Go about 200 metres and turn left onto Jericho Rd. Follow Jericho for about 5km. After the very sharp left hander, continue for a few hundred metres and veer right with Jericho Rd rather than going straight ahead on Beaver Rd (follow the centre line around the R/H curve).
Jericho Rd ends at Harrisville Rd. Turn left and follow that all the way through Tuakau town centre. At the intersection, turn left onto Buckland Rd/George St/River Rd (the road changes name depending on location) and follow that road until you cross the Waikato River over the Tuakau Bridge.
Turn left after the bridge and you are on SH22. Follow that for around 25km and turn left onto Glen Murray Rd. This is the tight twisty road that winds around Lake Whangapu.
Follow that road for about another 10km and when the road comes out on the flatland, watch for the turn off onto Rotongaro Rd on your right.
Follow that road until you hit an intersection where you'll have to stop. Turn right onto Hetherington Rd and after just about 100 metres, turn left onto Waikokowai Rd (there's a hall or something on that corner).
10km or so later you'll have to stop at another intersection in the small town of Waikokowai. Turn left and follow past the Rotowaro coal mine (open cast). You'll hit another intersection. At that point, if you go left, you'll end up in Huntly. We turned right toward Waignaro on Rotowaro Rd. Follow that road until you hit the next intersection. The road ahead is Waignaro Rd and going left takes you toward Ngarawahia. We turned right to Waignaro Hot Springs and stopped just after the Hot Springs where the road heads back toward Tuakau on SH22. Where we stopped, the other road goes toward Raglan and is a wonderful twisty road with tricky corners.
We then pretty much followed that road back to Pukekawa where I stopped at the Mercer turnoff to wait for the others.
I'd post a Google Map or my Garmin GPS map address but I don't trust the pigs who would use any overtaking speeds we may have hit to prosecute (its been done before when people posted videos etc).
If you want that detail (map with lots more detail, pm me). I'll only send that to those on the ride or those I know very well.

idleidolidyll That was a good pace mate used 22ltrs of gas in 200ks:chase:
Just filled up: mine used 13.9 litres in 210km (roughly 15km per litre which is about normal for me at an easy pace)
That's one thirsty VStrom you have! 9km per litre; that's about what the wifes 20 year old Toyota gets

Thanks for the ride fellas, hope I didn't hold anyone up too much. Idle...top man for waiting and making sure that I got home in the dark. Note to self...remember to bring a clear visor when riding unknown pitch black roads!!! Thanks again guys.
