Alright then you homo's in order to save a 100km round trip to the Albany Pub and avoid the attention of the filth I'm organising a South Auckland Thursday Night Ride.

Organising being a loose description. I have a route in mind, sadly I don't know where the pubs are around south yet but I will endeavour to lay on a box of piss on the comfort of the deck at Chez Dover's Cuntry Gateaux. Mucho biko parko.

If you are keen for a tootle tonight on a few goat tracks at reasonably legal speeds then post a reply and I'll set about organising details. I'll do this via PM to those who are interested as I don't want any fucking pigs turning up, I won't be carrying my guns as they ruin the lines of my leathers.

I'm not going to waste time on rules etc because essentially it's a free country but if you piss me or anyone off then you'll get told to fuck off anyway, or run into a ditch depending on what sort of day I have in the orifice.

Open to all - except pigs, coons and homosexuals. (unless they bring weed!)

McJim
14th September 2006, 10:55
I've got to see to the weans first (tuckin them in and stories and suchlike) - but since I was spouting off about exactly this kind of thing yesterday I should at least turn up.

Jist meetin' at chez vous?

PM me the details Big Yin.

McJim

The_Dover
14th September 2006, 10:58
Planned meet up at a gas station just off the southern at around 6.30pm. That is if anyone is interested, otherwise I'll PM you my address.

Vic and I will be taking the gixxers out for a spaz anyway but as people have spoken about this before and no one has organised it I thought I'd hop on the good foot and do the bad thing.

and coons and homosexuals are welcome btw, just no pigs.

Fantastic guys!!!

Keep an eye out for a suitable "clubrooms" watering hole along the way, and it is all off to a good start!
The more rides organised around town on a Thursday night, the larger the resources of the ecilops will need to be...:scooter:

Fatjim
14th September 2006, 12:35

Then you should fit nicely.

The_Dover

Any weather updates from out south? I'm not riding the goat tracks in this shite so if it's wet out there then the ride is postponed until next week!

Well its fine in Albany bugger its raining out south huh? Have fun trying to organise a weekly ride Dover, its not as easy as people think.

The_Dover
14th September 2006, 16:39
Fark organisation, I tell them the start time and, if they show up, the route and end point and if they get lost or fuck around it's not my problem!

We're all adults, somewhere deep down.

SwanTiger
14th September 2006, 16:40
Check out the Rain Radar on metservice.co.nz - it looks like there might be a shower comes through but I'd say that will be all for tonight.

Anyway, I'll have to organise my own ride, will post up details soon.

The_Dover
14th September 2006, 16:43
It's still pissing here in town and if a shower does pass thought then the roads I had in mind will still be wet and no fun.

I'll keep it pencilled in for next week tho.

Wow - what a blast - twisty twisties in the dark! Thanks to Vixter for babysitting the noob at the back of the bunch - certainly has given me more confidence in my handling.

Thanks to all that turned up for making it a good night - good to put names to the avatars!

See you all next week - missus permitting!

280 kms and I'm fucked.

cheers to dover for the riding gear .. I hit fog in the waikato and got pretty wet, but not cold :) I'll courier it back to you, or we can hook up some time.

and I'm proud to say I have ridden with the_dover and not crashed :D

Do we get badges and shit? Sorry Mr Joe1313.

I found a great trick to riding with the_dover and not crashing....make no attempt to keep up:rofl:

Mind you he was true to his word and the speeds were reasonably legal - we even saw plod with lights on after someone else when we got our fish and chips. the difficulty in keeping up with Dover lies within the legal speed limit but on very twisty roads in the dark - best not attempted unless you really know what you're about.

Great organisation, great hospitality and great roads.

we had a six pack of speights at my place.

would you park your bike outside the pub in papakura?

McJim
15th September 2006, 17:02
There's a wee Irish pub at Botany Junction
There's the White Horse Tavern in Pakuranga
There's a Cock and Bull at Botany town Centre
There are quite a few pubs in Howick.

Chez Dover is nice though - needs some sort of outdoor lighting coz it took me 4 minutes to get the key in the ignition of my bike in the dark.,

And I never drink alcohol if I'm riding so cannot comment on the beer - the coke was nice - soft drink was tasty too.

Red fox. or that other place on the left on the road out to wozzaname. Past the gravelly bit. I know where I mean.

Or if y'want a bit of a ride, that Springs place. Waingaro ? Head off at Huntly past the coal mine and keep going for a bit. Very nice.

Rather than the White Horse, the White House in Paps is alright, right next to the Motorway too, or onto Clevedon Rd, for the back roads to Botany.

The smokers at the White House will be able to keep an eye on the Bikes, as smoking is on the Verandah over looking the car park.

I'm not posting the route and in future will try and vary it to avoid pissing of locals and gaining unwanted attention from the fuzz.

It is tight and dark, like a nun's naughty bits and licence losing speeds are a no no for the most part, unless you are a fan of nocturnal botanical studies.

Dai
21st September 2006, 12:55
Lesuirely jaunt suites me. Still working off a banned licence in the UK for exceeding the posted speed limits (7 years) dont want to have to do this over here also.

I also find high speed night time runs knackering.

2 years in the mid 90's as an intercity bike courier in UK clocking up over 250,000 miles in that time. Done my high speed stuff.

I will be content to follow.

The_Dover

Do we need to ask the pub if we can go for a beer?

Sorry,
I lived in London too long - got used to having to ask permission from pubs to enter on account of being Glaswegian.

Thi kiwis obviously have no such hang ups!

The_Dover
21st September 2006, 14:21
Do you really think we are riding around Papakura?

If they don't appreciate the custom of 10+ bikers then we don't go back. Simple.

I refuse to ask if we can go to a public bar for a beer, fuck that. If my money isn't good enough for them then I'll stick it up my own arse.

Ozzie
21st September 2006, 14:23
uhh id ask them mate... dont know where it is.... dont wanna choose sumthing more local?! im not too fussed a:beer:

I drink there reasonably often, they will have no objections, bikers often go there.

There is a nice big fire out the back too, with picnic tables, provided it doen't do the "R" thing, it will be nice, and bikes will be safe.

If you like, I will give Kevin a call, ensure he is happy with the idea.

What sort of numbers are we looking at?

Adiddy, piece of piss to get back to Paps, it is on the Clevedon - Kawakawa Bay Rd, a main drag, you've prob been past it a 100 times.

Great ride tonight, thanks Dover - I can't believe it, I didn't bin it riding out with you in the lead again tonight! :msn-wink: Well lead run and great group to ride with at night. Was fark'n great to put names and faces to nicks - nice little blat around the back blocks which I normally do in the day!

I turned up to Dover's place around 6pm with a load of fush'n'chups with a nasi gorang in my backpack (1st time to ride with consumables sloshing around!), McJim popped in and after a little nibble we fired off to BP Takanini where a lovely sight was beheld... bikers and their rides dominating the parking bays :headbang: Some shite was spouted, more shite listened to - McJim holding court with his antics and me slobbering over the bikes on display

The blat went quite quickly, twisties galore and some loose stuff on the roads which was ably pointed out by the stops Dover made (got to practice my uphill starts!). As for my perspective I had the odd pucker moment  when a cager cut his corner into my line and I had to fire off to the left more - saw white stripe and my Asphalt Angel leaning over me! Overcooked one corner which saw me intrude into the other lane a bit

The guys up front roared off on the straights and I just pootled along and made it up in the twisties. One stage I thought there was an alien UFO behind me - everything was lit up bright as day! Turns out it was Croft on her machine with bling bling headlights! Turned up a hill and I had to switch to reserve when I felt loss of power (memories of puttering out of gas before Meremere came back!) but knew I had plenty in the tank this time!

Great sess at the pub to spin some yarns and talk about bikes and stuff in general! Will post up some piccies a little later on once I get the old Mac firing up! Nice ride guys and gals - had a blast and enjoyed confusing people with my bling bling tyre valve LED lights

Spotcha all on the next ride out!

Thanks very much for a great ride. Thanks for taking it a little easy on an old fella. I havent worked the bike like that for quite a while and it sure needed it.

It was great to be able to put faces to the alias'.

BTW my lady wishes to thank you all as well. This was only the second time she has been on a bike and she thoroughly enjoyed herself. I've introduced her to both of my sports/hobbies now (bikes and guns) and she is supprised at how much she enjoys both. She was actually talking last night about getting a little scooter to get to and from work. Two weeks ago she joined my pistol club and is going for her handgun licence now she wants to ride a bike.

You fellow KB ers were great. It was just the intro to bike riding she needed.

I loved the roads. I had forgotten how different it was riding unknown roads at night. Shit myself a few times.

I will be definitely in for another gentle jaunt.

Not a member of that group but if they allow shooters I'm in.

Dover, we had a great time last night. Thanks for the run. PM me for the next. Who knows I may one day be able to keep your tail lights in view for longer than the first 30 seconds of a run. Then again maybe not.

Have to try those roads in daylight sometime.

Glad you enjoyed it mate.

Hopefully when daylight savings comes around we can go a bit further afield and find some more decent pubs.

I'll try and find another route for next week to mix it up a bit and if anyone wants a map of where we went I can flick one out via email and you can go have a look over the weekend in the light of day!

hi all, bit slow dropping a line, between friday nite benders and other stuff been bit busy.thanks all for awesome ride, good on ya for organising dover.
pace was good but flabby old Kwaka struggled a bit with the tight stuff, as a result spent this morning down at AMPs in search of new toy.Rode a Buell XB12 and no offence Big Dave and maybe i'm not used to v-twin but that one ain't for me, tried a speed triple which was much better then tried a fireblade for something different, this i believe is when the lord revealed himself unto me,and his name was Honda and it was good.So i payed my money and this thursday will be getting to know my new toy.
also adiddy great skills for learner license, made that GPX go,made my old truck look a bit sad on the tight stuff
anywho enough of the rambling, will pm later in the week dover, cheers all

Last week I go and screw up my lower back and have trouble even getting on the bike.

Bollocks to it all I've missed two good rides. Next week the world better be ending in order to stop me.

Well this week i thought i'd travel south to check out this SATNR, i think there were about 10-12 bikes turn up which was a comfy group and easy to keep together, especially up that tricky 'goat track', awesome little narrow challenging road that, 1st time down there for me and i'm sure glad it was in the daylight!! :shit:

Apart from a very close call with a pukeko and a tiny rabbit running across the road my ride was fun and care free, was a nice medium pace set throughout without hardly any opportunities to open up the throttle to licence-losing speeds.

Good company & atmosphere afterwards at the watering hole, always neat to meet & ride with new and old faces! :niceone:

Hey Matt, is that Twilight Road you are referring to? The one coming out of Clevedon?.

Ozzie
6th October 2006, 09:22
Good fun ride, thanks again Dover.

Kind of expected to see some sights as TEC, specially given the light and increased pace, but all good.

Our pace was a little slow, so TEC worked well for us. Had one butt clencher, just before the turn off onto Clevedon Rd, loose stuff had both wheels moving around under us, but all good.

Fishy: Twilight Rd is the one we were on leaving Clevedon after our little stop, big long and very tight in spots, lovely piece of road, can be quite nasty in the wet, lots of moss in the centre of the lanes.

Anyway, all good, great to see the crew again, have a good weekend guys.

Zed
6th October 2006, 09:24
Hey Matt, is that Twilight Road you are referring to? The one coming out of Clevedon?.Nah Josh, this is some back road hidden from the populace that winds it's way thru the bush, often with no road markings whatsoever and only wide enuf to fit 1 car & 1 bike in places! I can't recall the name of it but Dover may tell...

Well Fishy,i have lived in Howick for 20 years, the road Dover took us on last night,i never new existed,it's better than twilight rd,

Good to go on a ride thats a bit closer to home, miss the lane splitting thou,Good to meet some new faces & some from out west,Dover led the group very well, just have to see if we can have a chat to the pub to see if they can have some grub for us,will see ya all next week.

Well cheers for the meet and greet and ride! Apologies to those I didn't meet but will do so next time! Had great time watching all the big machines turn into little dots and then riding hard to try and catch up in twisties.

Enjoyed the pub food and the snippets of biking info (this stuff is like gold to a newbie like me!), had plenty o'fun!

So much in fact that even riding out with one other that when we parted ways at the Takanini interchange, I rode around the block and then headed out to Dorkland Central! From there to Mission Bay, St Heliers down through GI, out to Panmure, tootled around Pakuranga to Howick and then did Chapel Rd back to Takanini! I managed to resist the urge to ride to Hamilton this time!

Thanks to BigB for taking over as Sqd Cmdr from Dover, I sat Tail Gunner and enjoyed eating stone chips from the bigger bikes up front :( but it was all good  :chase:

see you's next week.

The_Dover
19th October 2006, 21:21
yeah, cheers all.

pace was a bit slower this week cos I didn't really know where the fuck I was going and then it got dark and bug ridden.

still, good to see some old mates and some new ones and have a coupleof jars.

we're gonna restructure the rides a bit from now and do a whip around to cover the munchies and build a few bucks for spank and an end of summer bbq/piss up.

i'll discuss the details with the family and post up soon

Wish I could say that. Old and slow. 10 min behind the pack.

One day I hope to halve that.

Another great ride. Another brilliant social night.

My partner was feeling really tired and miserable before comming out with all of you. By the time we got home she was laughing, smiling and happy as hell. For that I thank you.

Dover, she thinks you have a wonderfully sick sense of humour and loved the banter between you and Boomer.

Ozzie
20th October 2006, 09:29
Great night chaps and chapettes!

Hopefully will get to do the ride with you lot next time, see how it goes. Was good to make it to the common end point though.

Sorry to all about the bomb shell re the food, I swear I didn't know before hand.

In talking with Dover and Boomer, we have come up with an idea of taking a $5 per head donation at the beginning of each ride. For this donation, you can partake in the nibbles (the food, not Dover), which based on the head count last night was $40, the left over, will be accumulated and perhaps at the end of the year, or the end of summer, we'll have a kick arse Sunday ride, ending up with a free (sort of) BBQ at the pub.

If everyone is in agreement, I will put to the pub that our "group" will use them as the base (a few of us drink there regularily anyway), sort of how their fishing club is set up. Then we can look at having the pub "help us out" with our end of year/season piss up. Not sure what that will get us, but maybe a discount on the piss for the do or something.

So, thoughts?

Oh, there was $20 left over from last night, which I have. If everyone is in agreement, I will get the paper work for a trust account, sort of multiple signatures for withdrawl sort of thing, to keep it all legit.

boomer
20th October 2006, 09:53
yeah, cheers Dover. pretty simple from there on in, even a fick norfern munkey like myself can find north ( after a couple of detours )

Dai, you should get out on teh day/weekend rides to build teh confidence. I'm sure in teh daytime you'll be ahead of The_Dover and only 5 minutes behind the pack.

i need to go find a screw for my radar mount as i felt naked last night without my pig spotter:yes:

I'll talk to you about it at the pub - cheers for the offer. Going down there on Saturday morning taking it easy. Will probably start heading back to Auckland early Sunday afternoon so we can get the boys tucked into bed at their usual time. So no dramas really. I used to do 6-8 hours of cycling per day so 4 hours on a motorbike should be a piece of piss.

you'd have to be pretty retarded to want to ride a 150 2 stroke to taupo and back...............

Ixion
26th October 2006, 10:16
In my youff I frequently rode a 4bhp 125 two stroke to taupo and points south. No problem, just allow an extra half hour.

The_Dover
26th October 2006, 10:21
is that for the slower speed or the roadside repairs?

Ixion

was that to get the milk and paper Ixion?

Milk came from the milkman's cow, into the billy. papers hadn't been invented.

Actually it was mainly to get Suzuki parts, which in them days could only be got from Wanganui. So whenever the Jap bikes broke down it was time to get out the trusty Beezer Bantam. They weren't RELIABLE but you knew that come what may they'd get you home. When I'm buried I want them to bury a Bantam with me, I'm quite certain it'll get me out of there , fire , brimstone, Stygian dark and bottomless pits not withstanding.

and honda's are built for comfort, not speed so he'll be sweet.

My GSX-R is far far more comfotable than my Fireblade. I used to ride the blade for about 30 mins and get a sore arse and wrists, the gixxer I can ride all day without any discomfort.

The_Dover
26th October 2006, 11:03
did you remove the optional dildo attachment from your fireblade?

that's bound to give you a sore arse and the sore wrists come from honda's trademark "reach around strengthening clip-ons", did you notice the funny angle of them and the flesh like texture of the grips??
