"really? My GPS says I averaged 81kph while moving and did 218kms (from my home in Manukau).
I didn't gas it up much and I'd be surprised if I used more than 14 or 15 liters. I'll fill up later and let you know."
Wow I don't have a fancy GPS thingy lol and yes I fulled at 19th hole(pressed the reset odo) rode to Drury Karaka back to the Auto Barn...Did the ride and back to Patumahoe and the bike says 200ks well 196 but who's counting:bleh: No my bike didn't use all the gas but did say empty(must have a few liters left)But yes I did have to cane it to keep up:eek:
Thanks for not going to fast I really had fun....:niceone:

4 bikes turned up and 4 bikes stopped at Kaiaua for a natter and a drink.
Stu; the road after we popped out of Ponga Rd was great; it's been so long since I rode it I'd forgotten it was even there.
The coast road to Kaiaua is in really bad condition: mud all over the road and more slips than I've ever seen. I spun the back wheel up on the slippery stuff a couple of times.
The hill over to Orere Point was also a bit messy; most of the slips had been cleared up but there was quite a bit of slimy clay on the road so be careful; that's where I spun the back wheel the hardest; the bike stepped out a fair way as I powered on coming out of a bend.

Was a nice night for a ride and a beer, but clay vs Shinko = dodgy , got a bit slippy.
Seems like the trucks dropped it on almost every corner trucking it out of there, not a good place for it.

Those were the remains of the many slips after the heavy rain.
They scoop up the dirt but don't water blast the roads afterwards.
It wasn't your Shinko tyre, my Michelin (adventure tyre) was just as bad and spun up/slipped a few times.

Can't make it this week.
Apart from the fact that I'm on a live-in course Wed to Friday: I crashed my bike!
Yep, went in too hot, slipped over to a negative camber, hit loose meal and lost the front end. Hit the deck pretty hard but didnt hit anything solid apart from the gravel.
My shoulder and elbow are pretty sore but my leg is worse; deep gravel rash from knee down. Gloves did a damn good job tho.
Leg throbbing, pain killers kicking in........ahhhhh!

Doesn't sound good but as long as you still with us, I know you are tough nut but in your age recovery from fall like that will take time. I guess it's fair to say I'm a bad boy: I seem to have misled y'all into thinking I crashed my Moto Morini or perhaps the KTM. :innocent:
In fact I crashed my single speed mountainbike on the Totara Park MTB track!!
I was trying to get 50km under my belt in one ride and got to the 43km mark before losing it on a corner.
The bike is fine, barely a mark on it; I would have been doing no more than 10kph when i dropped it after all.
My pain and suffering is real although perhaps not as bad as if I'd actually crashed one of my motorbikes. :whocares:
Everything I posted was completely true but instead of thinking 'motorbike' where I wrote 'bike'; y'all should be thinking 'mountainbike'.
My right arm is scuffed up on the elbow and pretty bruised on the shoulder and my right knee is quite badly gravel rashed with one deep 'hole' where flesh used to be pretty much to the bone. My calf muscle below the knee is bloody sore as it was both scuffed and burnt on that limestone shingle they use. I'm limping and in quite a bit of pain but I suspect that now I've revealed the detail of my crash; you'll all be less than sympathetic about any pain I'm in.
Anyway, I'm not gonna be riding this week or this weekend and at present, I can barely bend my right leg enough to squeeze into and drive my car.

see y'all when I'm healed.
The Morini is in the shop getting a bit of refinement done; it runs like shit at a steady throttle.
KTM needs chain, sprockets, 2x tyres and a service; I think I'll put it on hold for a while.
Hope to be back on board next week.

Be good to see you PUDDY, had a blast last night mate,l the guys all rode to conditions and we were lead a merry chase by ol Didjit.
No worries about the turn mate, could have happened to anyone, we got where we were going .
BUTT the "fact" that the Paddy had cooked and released all of our American Hot dogs was a bit of a bummer, though to be fair there were heaps of the Waiuku Riders there last night and it is in their honour that they are put on so no real worries there either, just went hungry was all.
Come on PUD lets be seeing you next week then.

We are coming into winter, good weather will be less & less over the next few months. If you want to entice riders to come to the ride you need to make it attactive to them. Post up Pic's of where you guys have been on the ride & some talk of where you would like to go in the future. Make it interesting for the newby's that want to come.
There is little reason for someone to just rock up when there is an even chance that the regulars havn't bothered to come cos it's to wet, to cold, the wife said etc. No one is going to bother taking the trip from town to find they are the only ones there.

Next time I might even have my bike with me
DidJit
6th May 2011, 17:50
Likewise, mate. :niceone: I ended up doing one of the ol' favourite SATNR routes: Ponga Rd (fuck me, it's been a while since I've done that road! Technical much?!? Then add in Night...); John Hill Monument Rds (half of which is just dirt at the moment while it's being resealed); Clevedon Kawakawa Kaiaua Mangatangi (can anyone say, "fog & mist"?); then back home through the Drury Hills.
Had a HUGE moment coming down Ararimu Rd: it's misty, the odd car's coming the other way, so I'm taking it easy (even more than usual); coming through a right-hander and wouldn't ya know it there's fresh effluent right across the road (and I mean right across, not just a patty you can ride around; a fuckin' stream of shit).
So, I'm making my way through this right-hander, got nowhere to go but through (don't even have time to stand the bike up, only just enough time to register what's coming); the front hits the effluent, immediately slides, collapses (I'm fairly certain I felt the bars lock, albeit briefly) and I'm thinking, "Ah, fuck..." while watching the effluent-stained road coming up at me... then the front tyre reaches dry asphalt, gains traction, the bike goes into a bit of a slapper and I'm coasting down the road before I know what's going on.
Needless to say I was thanking everyone and everything I could think of.
And it's amazing that all of this happened within a second. Seemed like a lot longer at the time.
I've replayed it over & over in my mind trying to see if I have a case to answer for before Katman. I was already going slower than usual due to conditions and traffic, I was halfway through the corner cranked over the effluent was just situated in a blind part of the corner and was right across the road... What could I have done differently? Not gone out is about all I can think of.
So take care out there, people sometimes shit happens (literally in this case) and there ain't anything you can do except grip the tank harder ('cos your sphincter's just gone mental), keep the arms loose, ride through it and let the bike sort it out. 'Cos that's pretty much what happened in this case.
So yeah, just another SATNR really. <_<

How was it then? (Hampton Downs) :scooter:
Spent the day practicing passing in the medium group. Wanted to try different lines through the corners but, other than going round the outside (which is fun) or going in wider, deeper then squaring off the corner and getting them by being on the gas sooner (also very fun), I wasn't too keen to cut in on the inside (although I did succeed a couple of times).
Had a pretty cool duel with a guy on a ZX10R in the last session: I knew I was faster going into the corners, but he kept brake checking me then taking a line which would've caused some swapping of paint had I tried going up the inside. He had really good drive coming out of the corners but I'd always be right behind or alongside him by the next corner; just couldn't quite get past him. Was fun though.
Next time I might move up a group and see if I can tail some of the faster riders and take the racing lines rather than the theoretically correct line. My corner entries are getting faster (slowly), but I need to work on my exiting drive.
When are you at the track next?

Some thieving bastard stole my poor old VFR400 1986 from my garage, they must have wanted it badly as they cut the chain on our gate, dragged it out from the garage with the steering lock on and took it away
So I am without a motorbike, well one that goes.
If you see it around phone or text me: 021 2720272

Easy to spot, all black incl black rims, only TRAC sticker on front mudguard, VFR400 Sticker on frame under tank, really loud as I never fixed leak in exhaust mixer box. REGO A7AEH. Rear sprocket not blue anymore and tank is shinier as i changed it.
PS: I would have come riding, but have been busy getting the new house/ section in order. Living out Ararimu now :-)
Maybe time for an upgrade anyway.
That suck mate, hope you get it back

Anybody know if Crazy Steve and Lula had the baby yet?

What I've heard is that the answer is yes! Hope Mom and bubs are doing well. The Ole Girl has been for her first official spin about the block. She looks HOT with her newly painted front end bits and her middle painted bits and her rear end painted bit, but MAN does she need the newly painted TANK on to look right! couple of weeks and it'll be on to.
Rides true, but brakes (front pulse like mad) newly machined disc's, bit more vibration than I remember but hey it's been, COUNT EM 14 bloody months!!!@#$%%. Sounds fantastic, no oil leaks, no other bad traits, starts first time and runs strong.
Be seeing you guys in the near future I hope, come on Old Guy get her up and running.
Ha, sorry mate, easy to say Now.

Didjit and I were planning on going to see this "TT 3D, Closer to the Edge" Next Tuesday 13th @ 6:50 pm at Hoyts Botany if any of you fullas / fullaess's would like to join us. Sort your own bloody tickets if you are attending as its way to hard organising that. Will be good to see you if you can partake.:woohoo:

Well hell I could ride there! Yep just Rego to go. Got her oil changed, her new neutral light switch fitted her new air filter in and of course a new oil filter while we were at it. Re adjusted the chain and added the magic chain lubrication formula to the enclosed bit so she wont wear out in another 107,000 K's, yep still original chain. The man took one look at it and said put it back, it's like new still.
Still got to change the tank over to be completely done, oh yeah and go get nice soft reach anywhere brush to wash the blacked out Pro coated barrels and heads with. No scratching going on there.
Stu , mateeeee, nice to see you.
Sad to say the penny pinching must continue as it's Bathurst again in about 3 weeks time and I do need some damned Ozzie dollars again, therefore i have to forego the movies but have fun and may all the old guard show up.

Had a call earlier tonight from the police, they found my motorbike when they raided a guys house in Pokeno ( http://www.odt.co.nz/news/national/178529/high-tech-bomb-found-garage )
So I have to go pick it up from the towing yard Papakura tomorrow, police said it was looking fine, wearing a different numberplate.
