Roads were dry when I took the bike for a squirt to get some parts and bits for the office, will need to head back soon as one of the boxes was empty...Damn another ride, Today...... Life's hard at times :D

Chris came 2nd he's 96 now tho? was leadng on points after round 2 but got piped at the post.

Just got back from doing a parts run on the bike....Great riding ATM..... Bloody shame I have heaps to do as I could have kept going all afternoon, did manage to do the long way both ways going 4 x the distance I needed to :yes:

. Might be doing more mods before the ride tonight as the intake is a bit loud fully de-snorkeled. OK just cruising but when you open it up it has the bogging noise I don't like to much..

Floor boards lifted 1" when I got home and adjusted the brakes and gear leaver to suit the higher setting, now higher than the old pegs....... Scratched them a little after lowering them to suit the gear leaver on the way home :P

i do like the shadows....always thort they had really nice lines...my first bike years ago was the vt500...i think it was like the grandma of the modern shadows...really nice, no fuss no messing around...all i needed to do was clean it every couple of weeks and she seemed to run better...enjoy...

The 1100 isn't going to get much done.... Might run a tank or too through it then check the bike over...... It has surface rust under the tank to sort, carb clean, service, suspension update etc then just ride it

the 750.....well its going to have a major change if all goes to plan ;)

If this weather holds of I will go for a trundle tonight... My brother will use my old (newer) bike so worst case I can follow him as I know that lights up OK at night :P

Suspension hasn't been touched on the 1100 yet and it seriously needs it.. Fork springs are here but the shocks are a way off yet... so wont be hitting the corners to fast.... not great ATM but I want to run a couple of tanks through with moreys in before the tune etc :D

So far all is well with the world, carb rubbers are here, footpeg rubbers are here, waiting on new diaphragms, removing carbs, fitting new dia's and re installing ain't going to take long, we know how to do it blindfolded now. Wiring issues all gone, amazing what reconnecting broken power wires does for things, same with cleaning all contacts and providing good! earths.

I should have my Vacuum pistons in soon, arrived this morning. Then a quick check over and the 1100 should be all go (didn't stop going just was rich on one cylinder, swap vacuum pistons then rich on the other..) so a pair of new ones should sort it.... I hope :P

Well, many thanks for a great ride fella's. The Ol Coal Burner performed faultlessly mechanically last night and now only awaits her new lung ( Carb) internals and paint ( next week and on schedule) to be once again fully restored to her former glory.
Loved the road choices and hadn't actually been out to Kaiaua through Orere for nearly 2 years.
6 bikes is some sort of record for the SATNR ride of late, lets hope we get a few more with us next week.

coils are in, new leads.... some plugs I hope are OK in (fouled the plugs last Thursday night).... Carb parts aren't here yet but I hope with a stronger spark I wont have the plug issue when it runs rich, time will tell.

Might do a trip to Pukekohe to test it and get some new plugs for spares....will fit them after the last of the carb bits arrive of if it fouls again :)

Might want to call in on a friend on the ride, will discuss if I get there (also have a meeting I need to confirm the time)

Shod both Ratbags and my bike with Shenko's at DPC, thanks to them it didn't cost me narms and leggings both bikes, 4 tyres, fitting and balancing cheers guys.

slowly working through the 1100 and why it has been playing up..... Coils, leads and plugs didn't fix it so maybe it was the Pulse generators .... cant find my small tester so I leave the seat of and go to ride next door to use noels and sit down and the bike stops.... :blink:

Start her up and goes fine, touch the plug for the pulse generator wires at it dies.... OK so one fault found! 20 years of use has taken its toll a little on some of the connections..... some got drenched in oil when a seal blew too so beater sort those too :shutup:

So working my way through the plugs stripping cleaning and giving them a squeeze to get a tighter connection then assemble and I will do a road test... not today I guess :laugh:

Sorry mate, could not go last night, cooked the .5of a mm left of my rear shoes to the inside of teh drums last weekend on the way to Roto Vegas. Stopped and didn't even have to put her in gear, the rear brakes locked up as soon as i stopped, the powdercoating was bubbling too, let her cool dowen a bit released the adjuster and hit the lever, they came off and i carried on my way without using the rears for the next 400 odd K's. Got the new ones from Red baron today. OEM and funnily the cheapest option of them all at just $66.00 including and with brand new springs to boot.
In tonight, ready for a ride tomorrow, I hope.

+1 Caseye mate, I really think it's time you went the same route as me - after three '80s bikes and a handful of '90s bikes AND a tonne of money down each one, I've no regrets with my current bike.

I ride it more often than I've ever done on any of my previous bikes, except maybe the last one which only died from electrical problems. And if like me, you're not competently mechanical, then do yourself and your bank account a favour and get a newer more reliable bike, bud... :yes:

I love dem older bikes just like you, but they can be a big drain and pain :brick: if you're not able to fix 'em yerself!

Yeah we got a good dose of rain Sunday... was ahead of it until one ridier lost some gear of the bike...... while he did the 20min round trip to retrieve the bag that fell of the bike the rain caught up.... still not enough to stop me riding. The first section of seal was completely covered in pine needles and leaves, sticks, twiggs, branches, trees, rocks, mud and other assorted ( McDonalds bags) items, literally all over what road there was left.
The gravel section was a breeze after the first sealed part, but still threw rocks slides, boulders and oncoming camper vans at us.

Nope, sadly I was busy removing bits from wifeys bike now that bike trans have successfully removed the left hand side mirror and rear indicator as well as cutting a perfectly good lock that was around the bike and a fence post. Key was just 12 feet behind the bike, but the instructions were obviously too hard for the pickerupperer to understand.
Never mind it's back home and now it's time to fix it.
Just not sure where to start or how to go about it.

Pink Ribbon was OK, I was Marshaling mid ride so only got the ride the last half, reasonable turnout but being a fundraiser ride I was a bit mystified that more didn't put hands in pockets for badges, tee shirts or raffle tickets.... Less than $10 per bike raised and I know lots that had pillions that did buy both..... then the food etc 2K down this year from memory?

Great ride destination too at the Tuakau Pub, Hell ya couldn't really call it a Pub. More like a top class restaurant with a bloody big drinks area, inside and out, brilliant place to stop, bikes right outside and visible through the glass.

I want to get some miles in to test my fuel usage after the last tweaks to get more K's on a tank, if I get no gain in is K's on the tank I will be tweaking again as I has lost a little top end..... but I can live with that as it is a cruiser.... if I get further :P
