I am definitely there this week. Spotlights fitted, Ramair intake system fitted, ready to ride.
"Ramair"Spewsuki's had that didnt they?
Good, be seeing you then', then.
Din, Didji,Jafar, Puddy, come on guys, it's warming up and the pubs rebuilt, time to ride.

Well I wont have my spots fitted, but do have highway pegs fitted... not the ones I was going to fit as while I was looking for mount options I went through my box of bits and found some handle bar risers that would make mounting the old factory pegs easy.... So it will be interesting to see how much I use them :P

I missed the extended ride, but found the road works at Kingseat 1km gravel
and 2 of those fellows we saw at the BP earlier interviewing someone else
and there are still more road works on the recently completed Papakura Bridge resurfacing - looks like concrete

hi not sure how to use this forum, ive been looking for an xv owner as i was doing my monthy scavinge at a friends scrap yard and spied what looks like and xv1000 on its way to the crusher, its only good for parts, seems a waste to scrap it, im sure some gear is still ok, the engine in still in it carbs are there but not on the engine. Email me at qld.tsv.game@gmail.com let me know if you or somone else may want to save it, it will cost its weight in scrap which is bugger at the moment.

Thanks for thinking of us, my ol "coal Burning" XV is really a TR!1. But no one here in NZ knows what that is.
She's 100% rebuilt literally from the ground up, including a hand done paint job by a bloody amazing artist.
I've got plenty of bits and pieces for her, but others out there might jumpin and ask you for stuff and they'd be welcome.

with new slips and road slumps around the place I will pass, I know of 5 local slips/slumps that had Onewhero school closed today as the buses couldn't get around... looks like the same deal tomorrow
Plus I need to catch up on work jobs being Jeff didn't get to work...... He felt it to much of a risk of not getting home with 2 of the 3 ways to work having slips already..... I hope they get it back open tomorrow

also got some work on the bike to do in the meantime. :(
Last post I had so much time sitting stationary in traffic, I logged into KB and sent post, edited it and did some reading. Still had time to waste in the lines of still traffic. Next time I will take a book, War and Peace might just be long enough.
Metvuw says dry evening tomorrow - any starters?

Stripped and repaired a rock crushed the other day, more than 60 years old. Had to work out what was worn and missing to get it back to original condition. Owner is wrapped, as it is now working the best it has for more than 20 yrs. Sometimes a little TLC works miracles when you make an effect. Makes you proud of your efforts when you receive good feedback.

Long hours and working weeks without a day off does get a bit repetitive. It won't last forever and the weather not really suitable for longer rides.

I'll second that! Deep loose and widely spread metal is a real hazard for us road going motorcyclists, OL Bass had no worries on his GS Goat, but me, well, um suffice to say we had a wee clenche or two going through that lot.

I have had it, a strange one.
Annoying dry throat and hard to swallow with the headaches (migrane as well, bad when I work in a noisy environment)
not a lot of coughing.
Not much else. Sleep deprevation hasn't helped either
Use the old cough medication just helps keep the throat moist, and vicks on the nose.
Most effective was the soluble Panadol dropped into a hot cup of water on the desk - the fumes helped.
I didn't bother having time off, would only be board out of my tree, with worry about catching up work I am missing(so far behind).
Sounds like your recovering, the nicer weather will help.:niceone:
see you out there!

I was reminded recently that I should scrub up on my slow speed riding skills (or total lack thereof)
and
while travelling to work
- Emergency serve/braking - practise how the bike will react when something suddenly appears
- Don't go overtaking a stationary lane without being very careful that someone isn't going to suddenly appear thru the stationary lane
Even if you are overtaking 2 lanes this is more likely to occur, as I witnessed this week.
- Scanning ahead
- Think about possible things that might go wrong.
eg This is a nice corner someone might be tempted to cut, coming the other way.
And if its me doing the thinking, its gunna happen
- Some people just are steerers, blindly going where someone has gone before.
- Be mindful of people who maybe lost or trying to find a location, sudden turns can happen.
- On every trip there is at least one (stereotype) person who will try and beat the que, wow one car length-the stress of it.
and these where just things seen while in a cage - this week.

Yeah yeah all of that...but on the slow speed thing, some years ago I had an idea (ominous some may say) to hold a slow speed race over a distance of 200 mts. Your feet may not touch the ground and the winner is the 'last one' to complete the 200 metre straight. A lot are not that comfortable with slow speed work so the idea was a moot point before it went any further. Riding fast is one thing but being the slowest is another level of skill.

I was reasonable before, but havent ridden for a few months (and out of shape - Yes Caseye round is a shape).
I was like one of those skittles with a round base that always stood back up when knocked over, weaving and wobbling. Haha!
summer is coming, so time to practise when I can.
200m thats quite a way.:niceone:
could always wait at the start till every one else has finished then go

Reckless at work YES
Reckless on the bike, not so much
Impart wisdom to me, few have succeeded
not enough room for wisdom

The ol coal burner is at your disposal if required, shes sitting quietly in the shed waiting for another 4 yrs of youngness to wear off before becoming a real cheap date/rego!
Hope the 5 days off was good and quiet.

last week there was so many corners it was like being in a barrel. :devil2:
It was a good and varied ride to places we hadn't been before. My skills were lacking but I improved as the ride progressed. Prefer night riding.
we also learnt not to invest in radio controlled model airplane racing, although the technical aspect was interesting as it also applies to all types of fuel burning engines.

Looking at pics I definitely got the raw end of the deal.
i gotta earn more moolah to pay for mbike and gear
should be no excuses for me next week as we breakup earlier in the day.
been thinking might go for a ride to Te Kuiti over the weekend to drop off and pickup some parts for work.
weather and availability dependant. Saturday arvo or Sunday. Unless customer has organised something else.
Hoping the weather holds.

Was a good ride, if I do say so myself. I being the leader for the night, plan the Muddy via Kaiaua. Off at Drury, back road through to Ararimu Rd - Paparimu Rd - Hunua Rd - Clevedon through to Kaiaua one stop for the photos along the coast. Kaiaua Rd back to Mercer, and the Muddy for a beer and a bowl of hot chips.

Ararimu Rd - Paparimu Rd - .
One area to keep in mind 'Lots of drivers cutting corners on these 2 roads'
not just the edge, the whole lane on the wrong side, around completely blind corners and a LOT
I know from several years of experience driving those 2 roads.
You should have seen the panic when they met me coming the other way.
I often also drove behind these dickheads, they thought they were going fast - useless.
I had a much less powerful vehicle, could keep up and stay on the correct side of the lane, even avoid oncoming dickheads
These roads are the ones to watch
There are some shady 'wet' corners even in summer the grass/moss grows here, and the occasional road slump can upset a bike too.
nice ride though, must be a real bonus having a bigger tank!
off to Otorohanga tomorrow for lunch, bike all loaded up, lights and a few other bits and bobs all fixed.....
might have a deco at viands on the way back

Hope that barby was a good one Leathel, we had a bloody good ride with ol Doggy sandwiched between nominated ride leader (Ratbag) an TEC ( my good self) on his newly returned to the road Bandy (Mark, she looks as good as when she was yours mate), no problems a nice quiet ride out to Miranda ,Kaiaua and return via 27, the sallops and John Dory from the PUB were beautiful as always ( never mind the chippy next door ( you know, the world famous one, yeah Na!) Good trip, roads quiet, dry and mostly roadworks free.
One small scrape with a stupid van driver who didn't seem to care that there were bikes in the left lane in front of him as him tried to dive into us,Literally.
I gave him a good old fashioned KB wave, that got him scampering away and, more importantly away from us.
Ride that baby alot in the coming weeks El Doggy boy, you'll love what she can do for you.

maybe a ride tomorrow arvo? To see if difference.
checked both on side and centre stand no real difference.
allowed air to cool, approx 5min checked and reset to same, couple of psi
cause I am using a hand pump
Washing all all of my gear because it stinks, and if I Notice it then it’s bad.
trying Nikwax tech wash for washing, tx direct for outer textile jacket and trouser and soft shell waterproof for liners (most of the smell is here) also washing helmet liner to see if any improvement.
the outers were filthy, tech wash is supposed to remove the dirt and clean the pores....
TX direct wash in for the outers, even though they aren’t waterproof.
softshell washing for liners, never were quite waterproof from the start.
its a 3 season suite. Not suitable for freezing or boiling hot.
helmet liners cleaned fine drip dry.
outers and liners proofed, hanging to dry, reassemble tomorrow arvo, and test tomorrow night

No wonder you were taking your time, it must have felt extremely unpredictable. You WILL notice a huge difference, remember to check them again before going out, the tires may have settled and without working (being ridden) they could have developed air escape routes.
Try them out once you know whats in them, then if you are not happy, replace them mate, sorry but safe than sorry has to be the right way to go.
Could be on for a longish pootle tomorrow, Ratbags keen.

It made very interesting riding, would pickup every track, line, bump and follow it, dragging me along for the ride, a capable of sudden slides to left and right on the country road on the way back.
i also recognised that famous bump before i got there, so must be looking further down the road now.
Understood, plenty of time to check tomorrow, just in case.
not sure about fuel range, 3+bars for that little pootle.
go early, Miss traffic & heat. Watch out for tar bleed, if your going South.
