Nice ride today fellas and felleress! Lots of interesting side events going on - the bike-swap-meet was a new one on me and the lovely gravel patches was a great way to see if someone needed to sandpaper their lovely rides!

Interesting moments when sunstrike hits and you're about to drop into some nice tight corners :sweatdrop

Being TEC had advantages this week - since my light had crapped out (barely bright enough to be seen!) I had the lovely Croft guide me in on a wing and prayer, until some old geezer on a loud bike illuminated the whole proceedings (and promptly whizzed by on some tight twisties!)

I ended up riding back to Clevedon pub alone when everyone suddenly pulled off to the right along the way :eek5: So I pootled merrily to the pub - thank gawd I've ridden those roads enough to actually say to myself "Straight a bit, will curve left sharp - avoid metal in middle of road, speed up, straight down with a dip, flick left ... see tennis court lights ahead..."

Great to hear the banter of mad biker passions, been missing that! Must admit, drooled over Croft ... her bike that is and marvelled at the pink helmet sprouting ... her helmet that is :shutup:

Anyhows the pootle home was interesting...slowest I've ever done it (at ... a gadfly 80kph!) found out that my indicators threw out more light than my main beam! So rode with them alternating. Will see to it tomorrow when shops are open!

Had two interesting moments ... one on the straight stretch before the kink leading out towards Takanini, three cars with high beams on ... one double parked it looks like ... when they saw my light, they scattered in all directions ... drug deal methinks? :sweatdrop

The other turning into Ardmore, I think the car thought I was a bicycle and started to drift over into the middle of the lanes! :gob: I flashed my indicators left and right, moved to the left until I felt my tyres cresting the loose stuff and still the muppet is in the center of the two lanes! :angry2:

I let loose with a mighty blast of invective and choice of insults that would make a sailor blush - :mad: must've heard me, he (I assume it's a he) pulls back where he should have been!

Next time, I'll pack a spare bulb! :innocent:

A good ride tonight, good company, me and my Guardian Angel, headed out back of Drury, road condition not to bad a bit of road works, dry for most part, a little bit of rain, just enough to dampin the road so you don't push it to hard in the corners, top of the hill coming down towards Clevedon, then headed out to Maraetai, Whitford, and home.

The new toy is a Honda vtx 1800c, it was involved in a slight incident with some gravel when it was new ( 150k ish new ) . I brought it from the insurance co & am in the process of fixing it up. Some of the bits are easy to get, others I have to get in from overseas . The rest I will get made locally. Custom chambers have made a new pipe & man what a difference , the vtx already had torque to burn but the pipe has given it even more.
I still have to get the ding taken out of the tank & change a few things. A winter project to keep me outa the wifes hair :innocent:

Two of the guys had shot ahead while I waited for the back group and as we headed off I started playing catch up and off in the distance I saw flashing lights (behind various cars and bikes...)

Well what a bunch of girls, :yes:do I have to post up on this thread first, seams like you lot wont turn up unless I post up to let you all know I'm coming on the ride, :angry:

I was thinking of staying home and washing my hair and doing my nails, but thought I'll go for a ride, sat around till 7.10 then bugga waiting any longer I'm off, so headed out to Waiuku stopped in to see family.

On the way home I decided to take the turnoff to Pukekohe, then when I got to Pukekohe, I headed back towards Drury then on the motorway and home.
I'd just like to say thanks to oldguy for the company.

I blame Donor for my non-appearance ... he said to donate blood, and I said "but there's the South Auckies night ride!"

sez he "but a real mate would help his mate out"
"sheesh, playing that card!"

so... what happens? He ends up coming back to base late, zeocen is waiting for us at the blood donation centre, and it all ends pear shaped.

I miss a ride out, no blood is donated and Daisy didn't even get fixed! :(
