Now now not all of us are constantly calling your bikes pieces of shit (even when they are working perfectly). I think I speek for eveyone when I say that
you have had some bad luck with bikes espiecally with your latest purchase.
And that maybe some positve comments would go along way from time to time, Instead of blaming the world for your misfortune.

Also DMNTD can take it just fine but it has been getting a bit old with the constaint
remarks about their bikes.

All I can say is don't give up on NZ, you still have a long way to go in life

Youre oblivious to anything not Italian aye Jon boy
hey, sono italiano... i'm oblivious to everything full stop!

my thoughts on the race - he came in at a good time. he was 2 places ahead of milkybar-kid when he pitted, and was 4 or 5 ahead when he came out. in some ways he did a 'schumacher', ie, putting in a blinding lap before coming in to pit.

my thoughts on milkybar-kid - like others, i'm waiting 'til michelin, yamaha & honda sort themselves out and we get some proper close racing, like Estoril. at this stage i'm thinking he's over-rated, good, but not great.

Was a good turnout last nights lots of bikes always good to see. Put it this way, if I was new to a Tauranga Thursday night I would have been impressed with all of the bikes there in their own way.
Went for a quick squirt through Pyes Pa around 4.30pm with Tonka and friend on an R1. Its pretty average through there at present with lots of patches of road works. I gotta say, maybe its a bit soon but Im loving this 14, it has taken me completely by surprise how relaxed I am on it. And Im starting to love pushing it (well, in my world thats what Im doing :Punk:). A little mod to the throttle the other day making it a 1/5th turn, and Im now not relying on the de-acceleration habit I brought over from the twins, but holding the power then changing down, just like what Aaron Slight told Chris to do, wow:yes:

Hot damn that was fun.

Thing wheelies easy as just changing gear, 1st to 2nd to 3rd to 4th. Front wheel just didn't want to stay down, then I figured out not to be so quick with the clutch lever. Turns before I even think about turning and all I have to do is look, the bike does the rest. Don't know what Brett was talking about, front brakes felt fine to me. Back one was a bit tight though and no feel through it but meh, hardly use it anyway.

Had trouble figuring out what gear I needed to be in around town High gears had the engine at just above idle and the lower gears were real twitchy on the power. But that's probably something that comes with time on the bike.

IF I do decide tog et one I'm gonna be sure to get a steering damper. Buttoning off the power to lose some speed before a couple turns had the front doing a small wiggle (nothing major just not something I'm used to) and of course I'm not the best at wheelies so landing those were interesting.

Oh and the sound is just mean! Loved blipping the throttle at lights just to see who would look lol.

Hope you guys had a good ride today. Im back up in Whangarei. Weather here is crappy today. Rode up with Jay on the back yesterday. Was his first big ride ever and he did really well and I think quietly enjoyed it.
14 is great to commute on and the fuel economy was good. I did 266kms on 15 litres of fuel, and could have easily made it to Warkworth on one tank which is awesome. 17.7kms per litre of fuel and 14 is running rich so Im pretty pleased with that.
Heading back tomorrow about lunchtime, I hope the weather gives me a break.

Umm...In countries with reasonable speed limits and less nazi's in patrol cars I have owned adult bikes Chris. I honestly can't say the technique is much different between similar "classes" of bike (I didn't say they rode the same, I said the riding technique is the same). Comparing ZX10 to ZX14 to Superduke is comparing a sportsbike to a (shh...) sports tourer to a dual sports (or whatever the hell the KTM is classed as these days). Compare ZX14 to ye old'e ZZR600. Both a bit point and squirt due to excess weight and long wheelbase. Compare ZX10 to ZXR400, both hard on brakes flick round corners with high corner speed. etc etc.

What difference is there in steering or braking technique on a 250cc bike or a 1 litre bike?

Of course I'm totally mistaken if you equate "adult" sized bike with an old man lady tourer like a ZX14 :devil2:

Indeed...point taken and partially agreed with too, however the uninformed, ignorant comments came from a guy who rides a 400cc sprotbike.
As Unit pointed out she was simply passing on her own feedback from her experience.

Well I agree with DMNTD about a sport bike not really suiting me. Would be fun I admit and I do like the look of the R6 but my main reason for wanting a sport bike other than the better handling is to keep up with you folks.

And lets just face facts, that ain't gonna happen. But I don't want another cruiser. Too soft and slow in the twisties without constantly worrying about the peg or exhaust levering one of the tyres off the ground. Tourers aren't my thing either ( No offense Unit, Blackbird2 and Bravo1) Too broad a purpose.

Leaving the upright nakids, of which the only ones I like the look of as of now are the Superduke and Buell Lightning. And after all the shit I gave you about the 14, getting a Superduke would be very hypocritical lol.

Hopefully I'll have it before summer is over...

Oh and I don't see a drag bike powered by a Virago 1100 motor with a Vmax frame and wheelie bars made out of the Rebel frame really being practical.

Well I'm having major withdrawals from not riding my bike since I've been to busy
but hope to get out this Thurs for a ride to Oko to celibrate day light savings.

I was going to take the indirect route and leave about 15:15.
The weather at this stage looks good but if it goes bad or I can't make it will post it
the day before.
Otherwise hopefully meet some of you at BP Gate Pa @ 15:00

Edit: Please post up if you plan on coming.

Weather looks good peoples.

Diverging from the subject for a mo, I see we now have our own lane on Hewletts Road now! It even says "Motorcycles" - shame we have to share with buses and bicycles, but they are few and far between. It's a start though, we need more parking around town now...

Certainly make the commute home from work a bit safer. No more splitting. Though traffic isn't stand still anymore. They need to put one on Manganui Rd from the fly over to Bayfair now.

Cajun and I had a nice pootle today out to the Ngatea Water Gardens. I hadn't been there before and the Ulysses club was going on its nana ride, so we tagged along for the hell of it. It wasn't a fast ride (or even close to it) out there, which was a weeeeeee bit different to yesterday's antics

After we'd seen the gardens, the Ulyssians were going to the Waihi RSA for lunch so we split off home via Paeroa > Te Aroha > Kaimais. I hear Olivia and Rick saw us in Te Aroha, but I just snobbed them. Sorry about that :crybaby: the woman in the white Camry was dawdling and I was distracted.

Anyway, I've done about 600km this weekend and am feeling loads better on the bike. I'm gradually waving goodbye to being "slow" and advancing to "reasonable"
