When - Sunday 10th meet drivers high noon
Chris and Donna have invited our crew for a Drivers Bar BBQ next Sunday. Planning to meet there mid day for a wee pootle then back to Drivers for a BBQ around 4pm. They both very much appreciate our continued support of their bar and have kindly offered to do this for us. Hope as many as possible can recover from the Ralph headaches from the night before.
Could you all please post your interest so I can give them some numbers by next Thursday

Yes folks, me. Got a verbal warning yesterday afternoon for a dangerous overtaking maneuver. The offense took place about three corners north of Te Hana. Now I do know there was a bad fatal accident on the approaching downhill corner from the north end about three years ago, and I know this road well and where I am so I do treat this stretch of road with care.
Thing is, I dont believe it was a dangerous maneuver, and certainly not as dangerous as the State Highway One U turn the cop did behind me and several other cars to catch up with me. I did overtake on a gentle right hand bend. I overtook one car. I had 100 metres visability and there were no yellow centre lines. I was doing 90kms at the time I overtook (the car in front was going so slow that I completed the pass reasonably quickly, even at this speed).
The cop checked out my license, rego, wof, and anything else that needed to be legal. Thing is, I think his maneuver was more dangerous than mine, and I reminded him of the fatality in Bulla Gorge recently.
No tick but ended up in his little black book, whatever that means

Sounds like a poofta cop that hates bikes out to fill his quota.
Like the one that told me he had to lock up his breaks and u-turn quickly to catch me when I was doin 109.

Im sure most peps will agree Im a pretty safe and cautious rider. OK sometimes we get it wrong and it was a little tight, but hell what I call tight is wide open to others (Im expecting some retort on this post ). The traffic was reasonably solid, but not like I was lane splitting or blind corner or anything like that, and I see lots of drivers doing far worse...

'dem some good speeds at the 1/4mile run! well done lads!
how's about doing it down Sulby Straight, thru' a right-hand kink, testing yer front brake to see if they're there, then grabbing 'em & banging down the gears for the 90degree r/hander over the bridge..?!

headed down to carterton at 4am,had a good run down, got wet on the desert road still dark wearing tints:doh:got their 8.30am,signed up for the sprints.
first run my nerves where shot took it easy, second run nerves still had it,did a 257km run(reading 280 on the clock)third time down all good.
My best run was 261 (reading 290 on the clock)poor bloody blackbird, well spose it can handle,it is a honda.
standing 1/4 mile got a 10.64 very happy with that.
standing back and watching it well you mad buggers.
rode back with dumted yet another good run, got back about 10.30 and 1020kms
later:done:
not to much of a speed freek like kelvin, he was running strong, the 14 was looking and sounding good.

Well, here we go, the second video, from Whangamata to Waihi, originally more than 30mins, chopped down to under 9mins. With the camera forward, it was picking up more wind noise instead of engine noise, so I added some music this time.

Cool, we're heading up too so will see you guys there.
Thankfully, Cajun's aunty is on the organising committee so we dump our gear with her for the day in the air conditioned office (an excuse to visit the rellies ).
We're using our brains this year and giving some stuff to people we know who're taking their 4WD along. We'll be the ones with the chilly bin, umbrella, and deck chairs. It's all about roughing it :innocent:

Been well worth the wait, it turned out wicked :2thumbsup. A couple of dodgy overtakes I'll admit, but overall a great vid.
Im on dial up speed atm, so left the computer for the last hour to load the clip. Watched it the whole way through, added it to my favourites, went back to it a couple of minutes later and it wants to load all over again FARRKKK!!!!
Gonna have to wait till Saturday when I get full speed again to watch it.

Great to meet up with Tauranga crowd for ride to Paeroa via Whangamata and put a few more names to faces. Just loved that run from Whangamata to Kopu ,apart from the the road works towards the end. Had a good run home today down the Western Lake and some back roads through the Manawatu.
Look forward to seeing some of you in the Wairarapa for the hill climb in March.
Cheers Wayne.
How did you manage to stay in my mirrors for the whole ride, Wayne? I'm usedto being left behind when 2up. Must have been an easy ride to enjoy the scenery at our pillion pace  and what a beaut road to be having a bit of a look around aye.
Glad to hear you made it home safely.

Was awesome to have you guys along on our roads Sunday, enjoyed watching the SV slowly pull away through the Kopu/Hikawai's (spl). I was too busy getting my toe down (bloody hell with pillion, massive luggage and heaps of bike that was kinda cool), I figure the drag on the toe held me back
Madandy you guys looked so relaxed, I havent done a lot of two up, 15 months since I did a serious trip with luggage so was a bit of a challenge for me, especially through the pass from Waihi to Whangamata. Was a great outing :sunny::yes:

Frist time over that road and I don't know where your local tax collectors hide out. After I got held up a bit with traffic I had dropped out of the main school of fish so thought I would try and not draw to much attention to myself by just enjoing the ride,:innocent:

Only saw two different ones that day. One was checking rego and warrent just this side of Waihi ('skillfully' avoided that one...) and the other was cruising back and forth while we were at the cafe in Whangamata.
