Din,
I've got the Beemer back and had the suspension tweaked. Need to take Mrs Idleidolidyll for a ride to see what it's like. If it's fine enough Saturday am, I'm a starter for a ride anywhere
That is awesome, good on you for taking your wife for ride ( just don't scare her like I did my wife:nono:). That is what I had in mind as I start this ride , just nice and ease weekend ride . So what you think of go for ride north it be warm up for cold kiwi and weather is looking good for Friday and Saturday at this stage . Join SAR social group and we can talk about it, you are more then welcome mite.
PS I had my first experience as pillion on SharperXB Buell, and it was scary at first, every time he stop or slow down I start putting my leg down, it is just habit, but as I got use to it it was fun , it is good to know what is like to be Pillion !

I've booked my entry and feeds but haven't jacked up riding partners. Korumba is thinking Saturday morning at sparrows fart; I'd be OK leaving then or even on Friday as long as it isn't nightime........................Hey! This is supposed to be fun not a chore!
Just got Friday off work so will be heading down to Cold Kiwi Friday..
Will be a no show tonight, going to watch Southland beat North Harbour.
Ride safe and have fun all.

That is normal I suppose after that many years of marriage, you just get use to one another. I know I'm scared of my wife but one thing that always bother me is why is my dog scared of her, yet she is always nice to him, she even make me sleep with him if I do something wrong. Just recently I found out WHY and my wife being Tongan explain it !
You know what is name for dog in Tonga that wiggle his tail?
Happy meal:lol:
I love my wife

Well if you don't mind share with me and my son there is enough room for 4 in our tent. Me and him will sleep on double LI LO, all you need to bring is met to sleep on. It is advantage and luxury of having ST1100.

Hey guys & gals, won't be a starter tonight as I got t-boned by a hit & run driver on the way to work this morning. :(
I'm scraped, bleeding, bruised, battered & (apparently) concussed... but I'm still standing. :niceone: Poor ol' Black Beauty, though, took one for the team and is looking distinctly worse for wear. :doctor:
Was only just on my way to work (like, 50m out the drive) when it happened. Who should then appear to give me a hand but idleidolidyll (evidently we're almost neighbours).
Let me say publicly big ups to you, idleidolidyll, for helping me pick up the bike and making sure I was ok. It was actually quite reassuring to see a familiar face. Thanks mate, I appreciate it.
Gutted I can't join the SATNR or the Cold Kiwi, but y'all have fun and safe rides to you all.

The ride went to the AMCC and I'm sad to say that having our hopes raised so terribly, that PB wasn't in fact ON THE BAR.She was howver wearing night attire(her bleed'n PJ's)
However, after much tooing and frooing up their damn silly ramp and finally being directed to the actual AMCC club rooms by a passing cage driver, who happened to be going there too.We enjoyed PB's company and hospitality, the coffees free, ( perked of course) but the beers still cost.
So thats that done.

That wide angle lens of yours... I don't like it.
I can't imagine any amount of photoshopping fixing those images.
And No!... I'm not just talking about the ones of me.
These days the only MacAdam limits I'm interested in is the edge of the carriageway and the degree of tar melt.
idleidolidyll
24th September 2009, 20:11
ha! ha!
it sure aint flattering that's for sure..........and that's why i like it. IMO, none of them need 'fixing' 'cause they aint broken
But it can be 'fixed' if one could be bothered. I use DxO Optics for Raw processing (photoshop is generally bloatware for photographers: too many features at too high a price) and if a fisheye lens is listed, it can be pretty much turned into a normal wide. This explains if you're interested and gives a visual example http://www.dxo.com/intl/photo/dxo_optics_pro/optics_geometry_corrections/distortion . DxO does what most photographers, as opposed to graphic designers, really want: corrects distortion and adjusts light, noise, colour etc at a fraction of the photoshop cost. I only ever open PS when I want to turn a photo into something it never was.
Re that fisheye though: I was invited along with 3 other photographers to shoot the UCI World Trials Champs in Rotovegas recently. When I arrived, none of them had a real wide. I looked at all our first up lenses and we all had 24-70 or 24-105's. I had intended to shoot rear curtain flash and a slow shutter speed to lend my shots a point of difference but the 'action' wasn't conducive to it. Instead, I pulled out my 16mm fisheye and shot at least half my shots with it from real close. I certainly had more than my fair share published and the other 3 photogs were all pretty impressed too.
Sometimes it aint about purity, just about being different.
Here's a link to shots on the 3 days: http://www.ucitrialsrotoruanz.com/gallery.php
When I got home there was a message advising all four of us of the passwords etc so we could put up extra shots if we wanted: I was busy all week and didn't put any more up but I have perhaps 1000 pics to sort through. I like the others too, particularly Alans, but mine were quite unique because of that extra wide. The jump shots looked so much higher etc

Well fellow SATNRs, except for the squall on the way home, it wasn't so bad a night for a ride... I got to lead my first SATNR! :first: (Never mind that there wasn't anybody behind me...)
As you can imagine, the pace was therefore rather sedate. :scooter: ;) Perhaps just as well as it was very dark tonight, misty in some places and going through the twisties particulary in the gorges there were slips, sendiment, loose grit and sometimes all three!
After negotiating my way through all of that, I found my way to ol' Muddies for a refreshing beverage before the return leg. As I was wandering in, I noticed a NZ Skydiving van in the carpark... At first I thought Din's fan must be waiting for a return from the big man :eek5:, but as it turned out it was karaoke night (that explains a lot...) :wari: Suffice to say, I didn't stick around to find out. :wavey:

if your not a senior member you wont be able to see the thread and I dont think I should quote from there.
But I got from the reply is that the mods seem more concerned about people getting their post count numbers up by posting in the ride thread, (who cares) so it was moved to rant and rave....(no post count recorded)
They (Mods) sited it was to hard for new members to get the correct ride information from the thread, what a load of crap in my opinion,

Old Guy if I saw ya at a SATNR ride, when I'd gotten up off the ground I'd shout you a beer never mind bringing you a copy, that'd go without saying, pity is I'm out town for the next two rides so it's going to be at least three weeks before I see anyone you all.
Course by then the sky will be still be light at ride times so I'll expect to find you there with your old bike ready to go! K.
