Gotta love the work to rule speak. When I worked for MAF the clowns at Northland Testing Station(when run by govt the stations)decided to work to rule, the higher salaries commission commented in the following months report that throughput was up,as was takings and people saying very quick service with no delays. They forgot work to rule meant 10 mins smokos,30-60 mins lunch as per regulations. Not 15mins or more smokos,45-75mins lunch as per normal back in 1985.

Right you lot. I'm due back in 4 and a half weeks.
I will be looking to retake possesion of the RF and get it all good to go. Inline with that, buy some new gear so I can be back to two wheels sooner rather than later.
I guess i am returning at a good time as the friday night runs will still be going for a while.
Now that the sprog is old enough to go to nan and pops I might even be able to convince the wife to come out and help hold the rear end down for stabilty mid corner. Not that her little frame will help much but it all counts right???????
So anyway, I will hit NZ soil around the 8th Dec and hope to be out the following friday.
Meanie, I want cake for my welcome back lol.. Well I don't actually eat cake but you know how it is haha.
Oh and nobody mention spicey rum to me either, that is totally off the menu for this man now. Water water and maybe some more water!!!!!
See you all soon, I know how much you have missed me so I won't hesitate to grace you with my presence.

Well worth doing it adrenaline wise, but that was 25years ago I went. Was bloody good crowd we went with, they had a fatality not long after, they used to use ex army trucks to take to start point,a truck went over the bank and killed a rafter, the company were pretty religious from the states and they never recovered, they could relate to a death(just)on the river due to risk factor, but not travelling to and fro.
Think river rats or similar took over their spot, and built it up.Also great scenery to get there, bloody steep banks,no wonder they say if you fall out DON'T stand up in white water, long way to haul ass up those cliffs.
Actually not a bad rode to do a ride to the base maybe.

speed and danger do not go hand in hand. one doesnt directly relate to the other. I wont be at any more fri night rides cause I working nights now but there a a few of us who have been here since the beginning and would hate to see fri night ride get a repuatation that is just doesnt deserve.
It is a newbie friendly social ride where everyone keeps in their comfort zone and rides at the pace they feel comfortable with. The only thing thats not allow is falling off.

Pleased your ok sparles, unfortunatly it happens to most of us when we start riding. Normaly a great reality check
I am a bit concerned with the amount of accidents on the fnr as well, like cowboyz has stated we started this ride as an easy ride to finish the week off and enable us all to have a regular catch up. My suggestion is leave the testosterone at home if you are a little competative when you ride and ride to live.
Lets be a bit more carefull out there, life is short enough as it is

Had a few speedsters on Taranaki rides which were Tuesday night rides, went on one,and never again, when you see a guy pass 5 bikes on yellow lines and just(and was just)miss being a bonnet emblem on a Mack truck as he went round a corner. Was ok but 2 or 3 of us were just pssed and right in the line of crash had it happened.
Just slow down a bit guys, sure at the end of the week you can be either knackered mentally and brain fade kicks in,or just stuffed,no need to hoon off with the fast guys, mind you the straights are good if ya can tuck in behind them, they get caught first.
I suggest a Friday ride meeting at Takapau intersection about 6.00pm,heading into town.

Was thinking about maybe organising a cafe/bar to meet at after the rides on Friday.Somewhere that if you're unable to get on the ride can have a coffee or beer with any crew not heading home.Might be about 8.00 ish or so depending on ride length.Or a finishing spot to end the ride and grab a feed and drink.
Maybe Speights bar,Cuba,Aqaba,Barista(open till midnight),Rexs as example,or anyone have a favorite.Needs to have enough room if a few stay on.

WOW, I'm offline for a few days and there are two bins :Oops:and FNR rides to the Bay sounds like fun but costly. At this rate we should be able to get all bikes binned within 12 months. Glad that everyone is OK. The Kat will be out for a quiet pootle this Friday, looking forward to catching up with a few riders again.:Punk:

It's not a requirement and certainly not to be encouraged. Had a chat with Sarge on Sunday and we both agree with Cowboyz sentiments that it is not something we want repeated.
The emphasis needs to be on having fun without endangering anyone and also keeping a look out for each other. This means that we all (me too) have to rein ourselves in a bit at times.
Al started a great event to finish the working week off and we do not want it marred my any sort of nasty incident. ACC are watching...

I also concur.
I made the poor mistake of panicking in the gravel when I probably could have ridden through it without hassle.
I hope that I haven't put anyone off coming, I'll probably come out again tomorrow, I'm packing up and shifting house on the weekend so won't have much time for 2 wheeling..

FFS!!!!!!!!!
2 weeks in a row? Ok last week was a minor but this is very rapidly becoming unacceptable. The Friday night ride was created as a wind down to the end fo the week and where everyone could relax and ride their own ride.
this falling off business just has to stop! :bash::bash::bash::bash::bash:
...CDMTC track days really aren't all that far away... perhaps that could/should be the goal of those of us (me included) that like to blaze alittle too much. Cruise the FNR's and prep the bikes and ourselves for trying pin it at the Trackdays in Jan and April? Save the tires and the brakepads for those to events as they will kill them for sure anyway and those items aren't cheap!
Saves those riders who like to try to hug the rear of the faster bikes from finding they dont have as much talent, technology, or in my case, just plain luck when its finally needed. Bins are funny right up until something irreplaceable breaks or dies. I think some of us forget these aren't dirtbikes that you can usually get back on after a crash. These are weapons that can do some serious damage.
I know I forget from time to time.

Well said guys. Yep, it's supposed to be a nice cruisy ride to end the working week and it achieves that pretty well. Just keep it simple, ride your own ride, and ride to the conditions and your experience level. Afterall, the only way to get experience is to just do it. Accidents do happen of course and it ain't pretty when they do. Tends to ruin the day somewhat. So, just take it easy
And yep, Honda trackday at Manfield Sunday 22 Nov. Non members Pre reg $125.00. On the day $150.00. Don't have to be a member or ride a Honda. Arron Slight will be there to give some pointers

Mine was fun,Napier 5.15pm beautifull evening, onto SH50(without getting lost),great road and trip to join SH2.Look to left and see massive black clouds around Waipukurau and happy I didn't go SH2,about 5km from corner(SH50/SH2) rain and heaps till Dannevirke(6.30pm)then stopped about start of gorge.
Overall, strong winds was interesting, first real ride in wet,and went better than thought. When fuel guage shows 2 bars and goes to last one just as leaving turn off to Hastings/SH50,maybe fill up,had 18.75ltrs in at 'Vegas in a 19ltr tank 330km with headwinds, daily 3km commute and travelling at 115km-120km.

3 weeks till I'm back people. Looking forward to riding to Mobil in asshurtsville on the friday. Well, if the wife lets me out that is and I have my new gear.
Shall we run a sweepstake on who is more likely to be a no show?

All donations can be made to my new helmet fund, ask for bank details the next time you see me. $5 to participate. Coem on team, you know you want to. I want me a matt black AGV S4 with a tinted visor so you lot don't know if I'm sizing you up or not!!!!! So come on, raid the kiddies piggy banks, steal from your wife's or husbands wallats ( purse in YOD's case ) and bring ya $5 along to ASSHURTS mobil on the second friday ride in Dec. hahaha
