If the weather is good, which it looks like it will be the Apiti Loop could be a go, if its shit we could do option 2 without the Mangaweke deviation

yeh the dirtbike goes, don't think it quite hits a hundy though, so may not be good for FNRs, mind you it shortcuts across farmland pretty good  may try getting the VT going this weekend just for lols as well, backyard skids on :D And nah, all the other bikes have short cables too, yup, I did check!

The Rangi and then Apiti Loop were great on the GC but then things went very wrong over Pongaroa way.
Catch you all soon - East Cape awaits...

And while on the topic of FNR's I think its a good time to reiterate a few words relating to the orginal intent of the ride.
After a bit of feedback I'd like to say that EVERYONE is welcome on these rides as they are great fun and a really good way to kickback after a long week, have a good ride and talk crap with mates.
Yes, they did get a bit quick for a while there so it ought to be noted that there should always be a group leader and a TEC to ensure the group doesn't get split up or anyone left behind.
A preride brief should occur so everyone knows exactly what the route is to be.
There is nothing wrong with people doing their own thing as long as it is done SAFELY and doesn't interfere with others enjoyment of the ride.
Basically, lets try and keep it a group ride, that is where the real fun lies and everyone should feel free to provide input into the route and how the ride should be conducted

After a bit of feedback I'd like to say that EVERYONE except kawasaki riders are welcome on these rides as they are great fun and a really good way to kickback after a long week, have a good ride and talk crap with all other non-kawasaki riders.
Yes, they did get a bit quick for a while there so it ought to be noted that there should always be a group leader and a TEC to ensure the group doesn't get split up or anyone left behind. But since we won't have any kawasaki riders along, we shouldn't get lost anymore.
A preride brief should occur so everyone knows exactly what the route is to be. We may let a kawasaki rider come along to give the speech.
There is nothing wrong with people doing their own thing as long as it is done SAFELY, doesn't force us to ride with any kawasakis and doesn't interfere with others enjoyment of the ride.
Basically, lets try and keep it a group ride, that is where the real fun lies and everyone should feel free to provide input into the route and how the ride should be conducted

Hoy does that work for ya? Original post VVVVVVVVVV
I've just had to give Dog's his Triumph back :weep: but we thought it would be a great idea to get people out for a cruisy easy short ride on a Thursday or Friday night and end up at a cafe for coffee and a chat
So, ideas and sugestions welcome, the basic idea being a short, no pressure ride around some of the great back roads round here.
All experience levels catered for, it would be great to see some of the newer riders out there and a great chance to pick up tips and hints from the more experienced.
Rides would probably be no more than an hour or so and be home before dark.
So get posting with your ideas guys, now's the time for those warm balmy evenings which are so good on the bikes
Thats a sterling idea :scooter:

Apologies from me also, had covered around 600km today and have a very, very sore clutch finger. From Napier to Palmerston I just did clutchless the whole way, as it hurt so much, and with a Trackday tommorow I went for the 'rest up' option. Hope to see some of you tommorow, and will be there next week. Cheers.

Another small turn out last night but obviously it didn't detract from the ride.
Punchy, Bogan, Meanie and myself. I took the led at an easy pace with Meanie as TEC. A bit of trizzle but not enough to effect the road surface at all, with a mild breeze to consider when aproaching the corners. On the road to Mangamirei the river had cut into the bank and half the road had vanished. Something to be aware of if you are out that way. There is a set of traffic lights (was a bit of surprise out in the middle of nowwhereville) and work is underway for a new section of road to be constructed. Quite a bit of cow shit on the backroad to Pahiatua. All made back to the centre of the universe without incident. Thanks guys.

Nice to see another well used Honda out and about. Just got a new rear tire today. Wof in a few weeks time so pays to be ahead of the game. Your welcome along anytime mate as is anybody who doesn't ride like a muppet.
Just one thing though, I don't know how serious the second part of your statement is about keeping up, I suspect it's tongue in cheek which is all good 'round here mate, plenty of light hearted ribbing and shit talk on the Manawatu forums for sure.
Just incase you weren't kidding, none of the rides that the Manawatu crowd organize especially the Friday night rides require you to "keep up". They are there for all riders of all skill levels to enjoy with NO pressure to go beyond your skill of comfort levels. These rides can go one of two ways as I see it, either the ride can be a fairly relaxed low key pace as it was last night or there can be times where some like to go a "smidge" quicker which is just fine as long as ANY passing is done with the utmost consideration to others and better still if you feel going a "smidge" quicker it's be better to get yourself to the front of the group from the get go.
The idea is for everyone to be comfortable with the ride and enjoy, never should anyone be concerned with holding people up or being left behind as the Friday night rides are and always have been as far as i'm concerned an opportunity for like minded people to get together at the end of the week to wind down and socialize etc...
