More than welcome.

(puts chanceyy voice on)
Just bear in mind that there will be a few experienced riders who ride these roads every day, also be peeps that have had their bikes less than a week. Whatever your pace you will fit in just fine but dont jump in over your head cause it gets real messy real fast.
(takes chanceyy voice off)
Would be good to meet up though. What bike you planning on picking up?
[/QUOTE]

Cheers for that, Will hopefully be picking up a '90 fzr250. Something fun to blat round on.

That conversion must be rubbing off on me,Wednsday had a look at AFC some nice Kwakas, like the GPX? 250 nice bike, good value for learners/restricted,the concours don't seem soo big up real close and stable footing(a guy parked one next to us on a cruise midweek last year, but left it in neutral and on roadside gravel started moving on him whilst dismounting),then had a look at the Honda guys, didn't get to PTM to check out the mighty suzis.

hmm that ride was Anzac day .. I remember it well  ...

kinda thinking of a similar route for waitangi day but apart from getting lost thought we could do the middle road loop (end back at the pub again)

I think that this ride should take the pace of the ride I was thinking about (Te Awanga/Clifton) cause gawd knows when that might happen so might be better to leave it to latter in the year perhaps, not to mention it's pretty much the same loop I was considering.:niceone:

Spill.....

was thinking we could go the reverse to last time, so Patangata to Elsthorpe then up Kahuranaki Rd, etc....

but at Elsthorpe we could hang a right and nip out to Kairakau Beach - only about 25-30km there and back, road looks good and is sealed, maybe have lunch out there (if there are any shops...who knows)

just a little diversion for half an hour or so

yod
1st February 2008, 10:29
yeah thats the one .. dunno if adding weber in will make it a really huge ride though ?? or can ride up turn off at ormsondville again

dannevirke to waipuk via weber is about 120km, but going via ormondville, takapau, etc its about 60km so i guess an extra hour/hour and a quarter since we'll probably stop at Wimbledon and the road would be slower going too

I spose without the weber loop it would be a 6 hour ride so maybe 7-7.5 if its included?? (thats ashhurst to ashhurst btw)

Either way you know it's a good ride.
The road condition from Weber to Wimbledon being the only reel issue with going that way I reckon.
But it's not a race so if everyone rides accordingly it should be all good.

I would hate you to upset the locals. Also anything derogatory about Kawasaki Heavy Industries doesn't go down well either.

Meh just kidding mate, had a '04 XR6 Turbo on lease until about 8 months ago, nice car that, it was a great cruising machine. That said, if I was coined up and looking for a brand new aussie car, having driven one I would go a VE commodore, they have moved the game on from the BA/BF fords.
But in reality, being the only one in my car usually I would buy a VW Golf GTi on the 18 inch telephone dial alloys.

Pissed down from Ashhurst to home though. Stopped to pickup/move some tree branches again, this time about 5 kms before Apiti. Seems to be a common occurence lately.

I was also interested to see how the rear shenko handled the wet. Not bad at all. No worse than any other tyre I've had on the CX.

Rode out to Scotts Ferry/ Moana Roa beach yesterday evening. Then back thru Sandtoft coming out onto the highway just past the old Lake Alice complex. Good ride with plenty of corners. The ride to back Feilding I came in via Sandon Rd. Was home by about 7.30 after leaving around 5.45pm.

Bloody good ride, and great to meet more of the locals. I really need to do that Apiti loop more often, it's good twisty experience. Just need to find a better return route - that Apiti-Cheltenham-Feilding section is a little lacking in the excitement. And thanks for hanging out with the slowpoke Bonez, I'm happy to ride at my own pace but I wasn't exactly sure of the route - as you saw! :)

Only two real pucker moments - one on a straight bit as a farm worker pulls up to the edge of the road on a quad.... and keeps going. "Surely she's seen us and is going to stop?" thinks I - nope, had to haul on the anchors, by the time she stopped I was already slow enough to go around her. And she was looking right at us the whole time!

And one LH corner onto one of the narrow one-lane bridges I was a little fast (for me!) and a little wide and met a car coming the other way. No great drama except the mottled pattern on the bridge made me think it was all loose gravel. Turns out it's just the colour of the surface texture, but had me worried for a split second. I need to watch my line on those blinder corners - if there had been gravel on that bridge (as there are on some of the others) it could have been slightly more exciting.

but you made it there and back and no damage to the bikes which is good.

Gave the 9 a bit of a nudge tonight. Been a while since I gave it a workout and can confirm that even over 100000km it still acts like its a young-en.

Great entertainly ride.
